Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Footnote to Plato takes place in 2012 at a tiny liberal arts college in Vermont. Philosophy professor Dr. Isaac Fischelson finds himself embroiled in a student drama that leads to a false accusation of sexual harassment and an investigation intended to force him out. He faces a disgraceful end to his long career unless he retires immediately. But Dr. Fischelson refuses to be, as his students like to say, an epic failure. Zeb is a promising math student who has resorted to dealing coke to pay for college. He lives on a failed hippie commune with his toxic mother, who seems intent on bankrupting her son, both materially and spiritually. Zeb tries his best to escape her world, but what he really needs is a bit of luck. The two meet in the Maintenance Committee and soon form a Socrates-Plato bond. When Zeb offers to help the professor put together an online lecture series, Dr. Fischelson decides to take him and a small group of students to Greece to film it. It's an opportunity of a lifetime for Zeb and Dr. Fischelson's last chance to save his reputation--and maybe leave behind a legacy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today's first-time grandmothers are the youngest ever. At an average age of only 47, they're not the white-haired, cookie-scented matrons of yesteryear -- and please, don't call them "Granny." The Hip Grandma's Handbook resents is the perfect accessory for today's new grandma. An eclectic collection of humor, reflections, and product recommendations, it offers worldly wisdom and common-sense advice on everything from glam alternatives to "Grammy" (think M'Mere) to tips on feigning interest in yet another round of ultrasounds ("It looks...just like you"). The book's funny, funky voice is a refreshing alternative to the traditional titles on the market, yet it offers wholesome, time-honored information for conscientious grandmothers looking to nourish and nurture grandchildren -- while maintaining their own identity and having fun in the process. Entertaining and inspiring, the book is a thoughtful gift for M'Meres of any age.

Plans, brainstorms, insights, and reflections get pushed back during our busy days until they disappear. Then, when we at last stumble upon a quiet moment–like bedtime–they rise like the moon in the night sky, to be remembered, cared for, and honored. Our thoughts may revolve around our relationships, or they may simply tell us to pick up oranges at the market. But whether life-changing or trivial, worldly or heavenly, they can keep us from finding the sleep we need…until they are safely captured by pen and paper. Catch Each Shining Hope, Burning Thought, and Glittering Dream. In Collecting Stardust, you’ll find a place to record your remembrances (thoughts about events that have occurred), reminders (things you want to do), and brilliant middle-of-the-night ideas you can’t afford to lose, so that you can free your mind to enjoy God’s peace and rest. More than that, you’ll find short scriptures and quotations, as well as some petite, end-of-the-day prayers that will soothe your heart, inspire your spirit, and ease you gently into dreamland.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After eighty-some years of being a student in this Schoolhouse of Life, I felt an emotional urge to document both to myself and my world that I truly was here - that I was more than the author of another poetry book. Grandma's Memory Lane fulfilled my purpose, and also became a way of acknowledging some important people who helped make these memories with me. My family's history is like a prize-winning forest of hybrids. The dominant one that influenced my life the most was an Oak Tree - my dad. It was 1931. The United States was just a few years into the deepest and longest-lasting economic downturn in its history. And even though my strong Oak Tree worked double time to keep food and care for his new family, his first daughter felt like her world was a make-believe magical fairy tale. Her dad, though tired from a long work day as a truck garden laborer, still found time and energy to make little child-sized furniture, a homemade sack and trapeze swing, and a little riding car that ran by push-power and was the envy of neighborhood children. My first home was located in a small truck-gardening community where neighbors were more like extended family members. The women did quilting bees and hosted homemade icecream parties. Kids played outside after dark, and parents didn't worry about them. Though the feeling of fear was predominant in most of the States, my first dozen years were a blessing of rich soil this Acorn needed in order to be ready for her own future family of Saplings and Acorns. So now, let me in poetry form, introduce you to how this family was formed. Remember, we're all constructing our own Memory Lanes and will have shared them with others. But you are the Memory Keeper . . . so love yourself and enjoy the life you were given.
