Book Synopsis Reflections on the Silence of God by : Bob E.J.H. Becking
Download or read book Reflections on the Silence of God written by Bob E.J.H. Becking and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2013-10-02 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In their recent book The Silent God, Marjo Korpel and Johannes de Moor presented a provocative view on the concept of divine silence in ancient Israel. In their view, divine silence can be explained as an answer to a variety of circumstances. Additionally, they opt for the view that divine silence needs to be answered by appropriate human conduct. The essays in this volume applaud and challenge their views from different perspectives: exegetical, ancient Near Eastern, semantic, philosophical etc. Some authors hint at the view that divine silence should be construed as an indication of divine absence. Korpel and De Moor give a learned response to their critics. Contributors include: Bob Becking, Joel Burnett, Meindert Dijkstra, Walter Dietrich, Matthijs de Jong, Paul Sanders, Marcel Sarot, Anne-Mareike Wetter, Marjo Korpel and Johannes C. de Moor.

Book Synopsis Ignatius adversus Valentinianos? by : Thomas Lechner
Download or read book Ignatius adversus Valentinianos? written by Thomas Lechner and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2015-12-22 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume discusses the authenticity of the seven letters, handed down under the name of Ignatius of Antioch, and explores the wider theological context at the time of their composition. The author first examines the chronological foundations of current scholarly consensus, which on the whole favours an early second-century date for the composition of these letters, during the reign of the emperor Trajan (98-117). On the basis of his findings the author next addresses the question raised by the title of the volume: do some of the polemic passages in these letters specifically attack Valentinian gnosis? After a detailed discussion of chapters 16-20 of the Letter to the Ephesians it is shown that the Ignatian Star Hymn (Eph. 19) should be seen as a parody of Valentinian myth. The volume concludes with a study of the Regula fidei (Eph. 18,2).
Book Synopsis Weisheit und Schöpfung by : Stefan Fischer
Download or read book Weisheit und Schöpfung written by Stefan Fischer and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2010 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Risiko und Vertrauen – Risk and Trust by : Heike Springhart
Download or read book Risiko und Vertrauen – Risk and Trust written by Heike Springhart and published by Evangelische Verlagsanstalt. This book was released on 2018-01-01 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. [Risk and Trust] Risk and Trust are complementary terms that can help shape a constructive conversation between biblical, theological, ethical and social theoretical perspectives. Contributions of this volume enter this conversation by unfolding impulses for theology and the church, for law, economics and the civil society as well as for the sciences and ethics. Topics include theological anthropology, trust and risk in economy and the political and theological challenges due to populism. This book is dedicated to Michael Welker for the occasion of his 70th birthday. It consists of contributions by authors from Germany, USA, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and South Africa.
