Download or read book House of Mirrors written by J. H. Whitson and published by . This book was released on 2017-06-05 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There's a mid-sized trailer that sets its wheels down on the fairground every year, and on that trailer is a little room. In that little room, there are about thirty mirrors that are designed to be a confusing maze, and a challenge to escape from, once entered. The object of this house of mirrors is to see if you can walk through the maze of mirrors and get out on the other end without getting lost inside that maze of illusions. When I was a young child, I would get stuck in that maze so many times. I would always get fooled by the illusion that there was a way out right in front of me. But again, I would walk straight ahead, and bam! I would hit another mirror! Clearly, not the way out! Every year, I would go back to the fair to try it again. Each time I would ultimately find my way out, but not without a few knots on my forehead and a few tears of frustration. Why did I keep torturing myself, you may ask? Well, that's an easy answer for me. I would think about this House of Mirrors all year long between fairs, and I just really wanted to figure this out! I was pretty bent on knowing there must be an easier way to do this. A rocket scientist, I'm not; however, there are always great lessons to be learned in the process of figuring things out. Even though I spent many tickets at the fair during my childhood years trying to continually master this House of Mirrors, I just never felt like I really conquered it as a kid. There was always something missing. I haven't been in one of those House of Mirrors for many years now. It's been a couple of years since God showed me what I'm about to tell you, but the message came at a very opportune time in my life--when I really needed it, of course, because that's how God is and that is when He talks to me! Because He's cool like that.

Download or read book God … on Life: A Personal Conversation written by Dr. John Darland and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-10-07 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Channeling and automatic writing has connected us with universal wisdom for hundreds of years. Gifted and enlightened souls have brought messages of peace and love from the source of all life. Joseph Smith and Joseph Benner in the 1800s and 1900s, Jane Roberts and JZ Knight in the '60s and '70s, and contemporaries like Lee Carroll, Neale Donald Walsch and Geoffrey Hoppe all share a common belief: We can each have a personal conversation with our higher self. In God ... on Life, author Dr. John Darland chronicles eighteen years of conversation with his higher self. It includes discussions about life events such as job loss, miscarriage, new relationships, death, and the afterlife. Dr. John Darland describes how everyone can co-create with their God-self the life they desire to live. His higher self even throws in a curveball by suggesting that a single soul can experience multiple lives simultaneously. Begging the question: "Have I met myself already?"

A Stranger in the House of God addresses fundamental questions and struggles faced by spiritual seekers and mature believers. Like a contemporary Pilgrim’s Progress, it traces the author’s journey and explores his experiences with both charismatic and evangelical Christianity. It also describes his transformation from religious outsider to ordained pastor. John Koessler provides a poignant and often humorous window into the interior of the soul as he describes his journey from doubt and struggle with the church to personal faith
Book Synopsis Pierre Legendre Lessons III God in the Mirror by : Pierre Legendre
Download or read book Pierre Legendre Lessons III God in the Mirror written by Pierre Legendre and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-10-10 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the context of our increasingly global legal order, Pierre Legendre’s God in the Mirror reconsiders the place of law within the division of existing bodies of knowledge. Navigating the texts of Ovid, Augustine, Roman jurists, medieval canon lawyers, Freud, Lacan, the notebooks of Leonardo de Vinci, and the paintings of Magritte, this third volume of Pierre Legendre’s Lessons focuses on the relation of the subject to the institution of images. Legendre tracks the origins and vicissitudes of the specular metaphor within western history, carrying out a critique of its dependence on the discourse of the Imago Dei. A crucial landmark within Legendre’s ongoing reconsideration of a medieval ‘revolution of interpretation’, this book dissociates the western normative tradition from its mythic foundation, separating theology and law. It thereby documents the advent of modern rational doubt, as a new legal foundation or ground: one that, for Legendre, was not only a revolutionary invention, but one that produced the modern European idea of the State.
Book Synopsis The Book of Mirrors by : E. O. Chirovici
Download or read book The Book of Mirrors written by E. O. Chirovici and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2017-02-21 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An elegant, page-turning thriller in the vein of Night Film and Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter, this tautly crafted novel is about stories: the ones we tell, the ones we keep hidden, and the ones that we’ll do anything to ensure they stay buried. When literary agent Peter Katz receives a partial book submission entitled The Book of Mirrors, he is intrigued by its promise and original voice. The author, Richard Flynn, has written a memoir about his time as an English student at Princeton in the late 1980s, documenting his relationship with the protégée of the famous Professor Joseph Wieder. One night just before Christmas 1987, Wieder was brutally murdered in his home. The case was never solved. Now, twenty-five years later, Katz suspects that Richard Flynn is either using his book to confess to the murder, or to finally reveal who committed the violent crime. But the manuscript ends abruptly—and its author is dying in the hospital with the missing pages nowhere to be found. Hell-bent on getting to the bottom of the story, Katz hires investigative journalist John Keller to research the murder and reconstruct the events for a true crime version of the memoir. Keller tracks down several of the mysterious key players, including retired police detective Roy Freeman, one of the original investigators assigned to the murder case, but he has just been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Inspired by John Keller’s investigation, he decides to try and solve the case once and for all, before he starts losing control of his mind. A trip to the Potosi Correctional Centre in Missouri, several interviews, and some ingenious police work finally lead him to a truth that has been buried for over two decades...or has it? Stylishly plotted, elegantly written, and packed with thrilling suspense until the final page, The Book of Mirrors is a book within a book like you’ve never read before.

Book Synopsis As in a Mirror. John Calvin and Karl Barth on Knowing God by : C. van der Kooi
Download or read book As in a Mirror. John Calvin and Karl Barth on Knowing God written by C. van der Kooi and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2005-01-01 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does it really mean, to know God? What are the grounds for knowing God, what feeds that knowledge, and what is really known? In his search for answers to these questions, in two panels the author paints for us a clear picture of what Calvin and Barth had to say about knowing God: Calvin against the background of pre-modern culture, Barth in response to a post-Kantian culture inclined to agnosticism. Between them, like a hinge between the two panels, we find the philosophy of Kant. The two epochal theological figures are placed next to each other, but without this being at the expense of the power of either. The study does not stop with detached historical analysis, but nourishes the author’s own reflection toward a systematic design.
