Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can someone become a loving and forgiving person after growing up with an abusive father and a mother who refuses to acknowledge such cruelty? Bobbie Campbell tells it like it was in this candid story of her life experiences in a home where she was unloved and treated worse than a servant girl. Beaten, humiliated, abused, and stripped of her dignity and a normal childhood, Campbell intimately shares moments when she thought she could not go on. She writes vivid recollections of her traumatic experiences in a one-bedroom house where she helped raise her six younger siblings with fear, yet unwavering perseverance. But precious time spent with her grandmother planted seeds of faith and trust in God within her soul, seeds that grew into a strong belief, forever reassuring her that God would always see her through every difficulty she faced. Through It All, God Kept Me is an inspiring true story that tells how the love of God sustained and changed a heart once filled with hatred into one willing to forgive. Bobbie Campbell is a mother and grandmother who lives in Winter Haven, Florida, where she faithfully attends the Gordonville Community Church. She enjoys sewing and singing and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about an all-American golden boy—a preacher’s kid, a youth minister, and an extremely gifted basketball player. He never drank or smoked and remained celibate until he got married. On his way to college, he was hit by a drunk driver, which, in turn, ruined his basketball career. While he was able to forgive the driver, he began a backslide. He started snorting cocaine and basically lead a double life. Regretfully, he was involved in a tragic car accident, killing his only daughter and some passengers in the car that he had struck: a pregnant woman and her unborn baby, leaving her only son motherless. While in prison, Eugene had two failed suicide attempts and begged the judge to give him the death penalty, but God had another plan for this man’s life. Like Job in the Bible, he had lost and suffered a lot. Everyone hated him, and some wanted to kill him. He prayed without ceasing, and God answered his prayers. All those who hated him came to his sentencing and spoke on his behalf. Then, like in Job 4:10, God made him more prosperous and gave him twice as much as he’d had before. God sent him to theology college, where he received his master’s degree and again began mentoring kids. He became the pastor of a church, an evangelist, and a missionary who traveled the world doing God’s will.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am humbled to know, experience, and continue to experience some of the most amazing, extraordinary, awesome, unexpected ways God answers prayers when we call to him. We must call on the Lord first because he knows everything, and he sees everything. He knows the who, what, when, where, why, and how to get things to us when we need them. When I was in need of an immediate answer from the Lord, I said to the Lord, "Lord, don't let me lose mind." He stepped in right at that moment. A calmness came over me, and nothing fazed me after that in this instance--even in the simple things such as the Lord saying to me "Look in your pocketbook" when I asked him, "Lord where is my debit card?" The Lord will give you peace and quiet, along with sweet sleep in the middle of loud music, cussing, talking aloud, just by asking him for it. When someone or anyone who has been resentful toward you tells you they want to talk to you about something, and you don't know what they are going to say nor do you know what to say, ask the Lord, and he will give you his words and shut them down and may cause others to fall asleep. God can also give you remarkable dreams, such as his coming from the east, and you know it's true because it lines up with his word. When the Lord spoke to me while I was on my knees in prayer, he said, "I'll be at your side, instructing you, leading you, and guiding you" and did just what he said without speaking another word to me in that situation. God has never broken a promise, and he never will. Lord, thank you for your grace and mercy, your love and kindness. I am so grateful, truly grateful.

Book excerpt: Scripture reveals a God who meets us where we are, not where we pretend to be. No More Faking Fine is your invitation to get honest with God through the life-giving language of lament. If you've ever been given empty clichés during challenging times, you know how painful it is to be misunderstood by well-meaning people. When life hurts, we often feel pressure--from others and ourselves--to keep it together, suck it up, or pray it away. But Scripture reveals a God who lovingly invites us to give honest voice to our emotions when life hits hard. For most of her life, Esther Fleece Allen believed she could bypass the painful emotions of her broken past by shutting them down altogether. She was known as an achiever and an overcomer on the fast track to success. But in silencing her pain, she robbed herself of the opportunity to be healed. Maybe you've done the same. Esther's journey into healing began when she discovered that God has given us a real-world way to deal with raw emotions and an alternative to the coping mechanisms that end up causing more pain. It's called lament--the gut-level, honest prayer that God never ignores, never silences, and never wastes. No More Faking Fine is your permission to lament, taking you on a journey down the unexpected pathway to true intimacy with God. Drawing from careful biblical study and hard-won insight, Esther reveals how to use God's own language to come closer to him as he leads us through our pain to the light on the other side, teaching you that: We are robbing ourselves of a divine mystery and a divine intimacy when we pretend to have it all together God does not expect us to be perfect; instead, he meets us where we are There is hope beyond your heartache, disappointment, and grief Like Esther, you'll soon find that when one person stops faking fine, it gives everyone else permission to do the same.

Book excerpt: God Has a Name is a simple yet profound guide to understanding God in a new light--focusing on what God says about himself. This one shift has the potential to radically alter how you relate to God, not as a doctrine, but as a relational being who responds to you in an elastic, back-and-forth way. In God Has a Name, John Mark Comer takes you line by line through Exodus 34:6-8--Yahweh's self-revelation on Mount Sinai, one of the most quoted passages in the Bible. Along the way, Comer addresses some of the most profound questions he came across as he studied these noted lines in Exodus, including: Why do we feel this gap between us and God? Could it be that a lot of what we think about God is wrong? Not all wrong, but wrong enough to mess up how we relate to him? What if our "God" is really a projection of our own identity, ideas, and desires? What if the real God is different, but far better than we could ever imagine? No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, the act of learning who God is just might surprise you--and change everything.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I want to thank God and the Lord Jesus Christ for using me to write such a great story. I was in the music business for twenty-six years and had only minor success and I retired from the business with the satisfaction that I gave it my best effort, but also a what if I would have made it sigh in my heart. I loved God and served him for many years, but nothing could prepare a person for something like this. The table cracking during the writing sessions reminded me of a teacher hitting the desk with a ruler to get the class to be quiet. Make no mistake about it the good Lord loved for me to sing to him the different gospel songs that I mentioned in the book and even some of my own songs from time to time but playing around and joking were not taken kindly of when it was time to go to work. I was disobedient one time during the process and I felt a burning pain in my foot after one of the writing sessions that I talked about in the God will not be mocked chapter of the book. The bottom line is we really are made in the image of God and we were intended to dwell with him on a daily basis. My point is that the veil was gone. That's how close we are to God. We think of God in some faraway place and he is, but he is also right beside us and he really wants to commune with us as a Savior who understands what we go through and feel. I want to thank everyone that helped me along the way especially my fiancée, Diamond. I also want to acknowledge my roots from southern Virginia to my current home in Fort Washington, MD. The events in my journey were incredible, but the main point was what my Savior Jesus Christ told me on the day he blessed me to have his spirit, "Tell my children to get right. I am coming back soon." Look at the events in the world now. Hey children of God, get right.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who is Jesus Christ? You've never met Him in person, and you don't know anyone who has. But there is a way to know who he is. How? Jesus Christ - the divine Person revealed in the Bible - has a unique excellence and a spiritual beauty that speaks directly to our souls and says, "Yes, this is truth." It's like seeing the sun and knowing that it is light, or tasting honey and knowing that it is sweet. The depth and complexity of Jesus shatter our simple mental frameworks. He baffled proud scribes with his wisdom but was understood and loved by children. He calmed a raging storm with a word but would not get himself down from the cross. Look at the Jesus of the Bible. Keep your eyes open, and fill them with the portrait of Jesus in God's Word. Jesus said, "If anyone's will is to do God's will, He will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority." Ask God for the grace to do His will, and you will see the truth of His Son. John Piper has written this book in the hope that all will see Jesus for who he really is and will come to enjoy him above all else.
