Book Synopsis Glosario bilingüe de matemáticas: Español-Ingles. English-Spanish by : Carlos Javier García Machado
Download or read book Glosario bilingüe de matemáticas: Español-Ingles. English-Spanish written by Carlos Javier García Machado and published by Vision Libros. This book was released on 2011-05-01 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Language from the Body by : Sarah F. Taub
Download or read book Language from the Body written by Sarah F. Taub and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2001-02-26 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is the role of meaning in linguistic theory? Generative linguists have severely limited the influence of meaning, claiming that language is not affected by other cognitive processes and that semantics does not influence linguistic form. Conversely, cognitivist and functionalist linguists believe that meaning pervades and motivates all levels of linguistic structure. This dispute can be resolved conclusively by evidence from signed languages. Signed languages are full of iconic linguistic items: words, inflections, and even syntactic constructions with structural similarities between their physical form and their referents' form. Iconic items can have concrete meanings and also abstract meanings through conceptual metaphors. Language from the Body rebuts the generativist linguistic theories which separate form and meaning and asserts that iconicity can only be described in a cognitivist framework where meaning can influence form.

Book Synopsis Calculus with infinitesimals by : Efraín Soto Apolinar
Download or read book Calculus with infinitesimals written by Efraín Soto Apolinar and published by Efrain Soto Apolinar. This book was released on 2020-06-30 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers the most important ideas of calculus and its applications. An emphasis is placed on the use of infinitely small quantities (i.e., infinitesimals), which were used in the creation of this branch of mathematics. The goal of the author is to provide a smoother transition to the understanding of the ideas of infinitesimal quantity, derivative, differential, antiderivative, and the definite integral. In order to give the reader an easier approach to learning and understanding these ideas, the same justifications given by the creators of the calculus are explained in this book. The justification of the formulas to compute derivatives is deduced according to its historical genesis with the use of the idea of infinitesimal as stated by Leibniz. Also, the justification of the formulas for antiderivatives is explained in detail. Some applications of the calculus are also covered, among them, extreme values of functions, related rates, arc length, area of regions in the plane, volume, surface area, mass, the center of mass, the moment of inertia, hydrostatic pressure, work, and several more. Mathematical rigor is not emphasized in this work, but instead, the meaning of the concepts and the understanding of the mathematical procedures in order to prepare the reader to apply the calculus in different contexts, among them: geometry, physics, and engineering problems. To motivate more teachers and students to use this book, the topics covered have been arranged according to most of the traditional calculus courses. However, because the theory of limits and the definitions of the ideas of calculus based on limits, were created many years later by Cauchy and Weierstrass, the limits and some related ideas (like continuity and differentiability) are not detailed covered.
Book Synopsis Teaching Tech Together by : Greg Wilson
Download or read book Teaching Tech Together written by Greg Wilson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-10-08 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hundreds of grassroots groups have sprung up around the world to teach programming, web design, robotics, and other skills outside traditional classrooms. These groups exist so that people don't have to learn these things on their own, but ironically, their founders and instructors are often teaching themselves how to teach. There's a better way. This book presents evidence-based practices that will help you create and deliver lessons that work and build a teaching community around them. Topics include the differences between different kinds of learners, diagnosing and correcting misunderstandings, teaching as a performance art, what motivates and demotivates adult learners, how to be a good ally, fostering a healthy community, getting the word out, and building alliances with like-minded groups. The book includes over a hundred exercises that can be done individually or in groups, over 350 references, and a glossary to help you navigate educational jargon.

First, it is, to the extent feasible, based on comparable information on the status and trends of major indicators of the state of the environment in Canada,Mexico, and the United States. Second, the report confirms that these three countries together make up an incredibly complex, dynamic, and interconnected ecosystem in which humans play a dominant and decisive role. Third, the report raises important and sometimes disquieting questions concerning the sustainability of some current trends. Finally, the report is a reminder that our economic, social, and physical well-being are utterly dependent on the life-sustaining services provided by nature. This report emphasizes the importance of developing mutually compatible economic, social, and environmental goals and policies across the three-country region.

Book Synopsis The Rebel by : Leonor Villegas de Magn—n
Download or read book The Rebel written by Leonor Villegas de Magn—n and published by Arte Publico Press. This book was released on 1994-09-01 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Rebel is the memoir of a revolutionary woman, Leonor Villegas de Magnon (1876-1955), who was a fiery critic of dictator Porfirio Diaz and a conspirator and participant in the Mexican Revolution. Villegas de Magnon rebelled against the ideals of her aristocratic class and against the traditional role of women in her society. In 1910 Villegas moved from Mexico to Laredo, Texas, where she continued supporting the revolution as a member of the Junta Revolucionaria (Revolutionary Council) and as a fiery editorialist in Laredo newspapers. In 1913, she founded La Cruz Blanca (The White Cross) to serve as a corps of nurses for the revolutionary forces active from the border region to Mexico City. Many women like Villegas de Magnon from both sides of the border risked their lives and left their families to support the revolution. Years later, however, when their participation had still been unacknowledged and was running the risk of being forgotten, Villegas de Magnon decided to write her personal account of this history. The Rebel covers the period from 1876 through 1920, documenting the heroic actions of the women. Written in the third person with a romantic fervor, the narrative interweaves autobiography with the story of La Cruz Blanca. Until now Villegas de Magnon's written contributions have remained virtually unrecognized - peripheral to both Mexico and the United States, fragmented by a border. Not only does her work attest to the vitality, strength and involvement of women in sociopolitical concerns, but it also stands as one of the very few written documents that consciously challenges stereotyped misconceptions of Mexican Americans held by both Mexicans and Anglo-Americans.
