Sie ist derart vielschichtig, dass sie es vermag, identitätsstiftend für die Gattung Mensch zu sein oder auch, um die Bedeutung von Sprache auf ihre Wichtigkeit für das Individuum herunterzubrechen, ein Charakteristikum für den Menschen zu sein. Dennoch ist Sprache ebenso durch negative Eigenschaften gekennzeichnet. So kann durch Sprache Gewalt ausgeübt werden und Gewalt durch Sprache einwirken. Ich möchte die Behauptung, dass es zwischen männlichen und weiblichen Gesprächspartnern zu sprachlichen Gewaltakten kommt, genauer untersuchen. Dabei stellte sich mir die zentrale Frage, ob es möglich ist, dass Alltagssprache einen Akt der Gewalt darstellen kann. Grundlegend für diese Fragestellung ist das Problem der Diskriminierung durch Sprache. Denn durch Diskriminierungen werden Großteile von sprachlichen Gewaltakten definiert. Dieser Arbeit liegen die Beobachtungen der feministischen Sprachwissenschaft zu Grunde, von der man seit den 1970 er Jahren in der BRD spricht. Denn aus ihr kommen die Anklagen und Vorwürfe, die an das Sprachverhalten von Männern gegenüber Frauen gerichtet sind. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es nicht, einen populärwissenschaftlichen Diskurs anzuschieben. Denn obschon diese Arbeit den Anspruch hat, sachlich und eng am Thema zu bleiben, sind die bekannten wissenschaftlichen Abhandlungen befangen und bewegen sich weit über die Grenzen der Sprachforschung hinaus. Einschlägige Beispiele aus den Vorworten ihrer Publikationen lauten: „Die einzige Möglichkeit der Änderung sehe ich darin, dass die männliche Kultur sich ändert... durch eine weitgehende, tiefe Änderung der Männer selbst, indem sie sich weibliche Eigenschaften aneignen, weil sie schlicht humaner sind und zudem besser funktionieren.“ . Diese Arbeit wiederum, legt die Theorien über Gewalt durch Sprache in der feministischen Sprachforschung dar. Ferner wird durch eine Evaluation eines einschlägigen Sprecherkreises in Erfahrung gebracht, ob und wenn ja, wie er Gewalt in Sprache empfindet. Auch wird darauf eingegangen, was feministische Linguistik unbewusst auch macht. Ausgehend von der Diskriminierung der Frau, wird ein prüfender Blick auf die Tatsache gerichtet, dass wenn weibliche Sprachforschung männliches Sprechen als einen Gewaltakt empfindet, so ist das männliches Sprachverhalten per se verurteilt und diskriminiert.

Einerseits gelten Sprache und Gewalt als Gegensatz. Sie verhalten sich zueinander wie Zivilisation und Barbarei. Sigmund Freud beispielsweise wird das Bonmot zugeschrieben, dass derjenige, der zum ersten Mal anstelle eines Speeres ein Schimpfwort benutzte, der Begrnder der Zivilisation war. Sprache gilt gemeinhin als etwas der Gewalt entgegengesetztes, als ein Werkzeug, mit welchem Streit durch Argumente gekl„rt werden kann - ohne sich zu prgeln. Andererseits finden wir uns im Alltag oft genug in Situationen wieder, in denen wir durch Sprache tats„chlich verletzt werden, sodass wir annehmen mssen, dass durchaus ein Zusammenhang zwischen Sprache und Gewalt besteht. Unter gewissen Umst„nden k”nnen mit der Sprache Gewaltakte ausgebt werden, die mit der Zerst”rungskraft von physischer Gewalt vergleichbar sind. In diesem Sinn beinhaltet das Sprechen nicht nur die M”glichkeit Gewalt anzudrohen, sondern ist selbst eine Form von Gewalt. Die Gewalt ist also nicht stumm und die Sprache nicht gewaltlos. Deswegen ist es wichtig, die Gewaltsamkeit der Sprache zu verstehen. In der vorliegenden Untersuchung soll darum die Frage im Zentrum stehen, wie mit Sprache Gewalt ausgebt werden kann. An diesem Kern setzen folgende weiteren Fragen an: Woher kommt die verletzende Kraft im Sprechen? Wie kann Sprache verletzen? Wie kann mit sprachlicher Gewalt umgegangen werden? Diese linguistische Studie verfolgt einen sprechakttheoretischen Ansatz, der in ein gesamtheitliches pragmatisches Sprachbild eingeordnet wird. Somit sind auch diskurs- und systemtheoretische Grundprinzipien relevant. Kurzum: Es geht um das Verst„ndnis von sprachlichen Gewaltakten in der menschlichen Interaktion.

Wenn ein Streit statt mit den Fäusten mit Worten ausgetragen wird, gilt dies gemeinhin als zivilisatorischer Fortschritt. Ganz so einfach ist es allerdings nicht. Dementsprechend ist das gewalttätige und diskriminierende Potenzial von Sprache bereits seit einigen Jahrzehnten in den Blickpunkt von Linguisten, Kulturphilosophen und Soziologen gerückt und in den vergangenen Jahren durch die Diskussion um Political Correctness noch einmal deutlich verstärkt worden. Nahezu jeder von uns hat in seinem täglichen Leben bereits erfahren, wie verletzend Worte wirken können. In den USA hat sich in den 1980er Jahren für rassistische und andere diskriminierende Äußerungen der Begriff der „hate speech“ etabliert. Wie mächtig ist die Wirkweise von Sprache? Wie äußert sie sich? Gibt es Möglichkeiten, sprachlicher Gewalt entgegenzutreten? Das sind Fragen, die in diesem Zusammenhang diskutiert werden. Die amerikanische Kulturphilosophin und Gendertheoretikerin Judith Butler, um die es im Folgenden genauer gehen soll, hat durch ihre Theorie der Politik des Performativen der Diskussion eine neue Dimension verliehen, in der die Wirkmächtigkeit von Sprache als konstitutives Element unserer Wirklichkeitswahrnehmung deutlich wird.
