Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The birth of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of human history. Our years are numbered in accordance with the eras BC and AD signifying Before Christ and Anno Domini, i.e., "in the year of the Lord." We celebrate the biggest holiday of the year in remembrance of His birth but amazingly, we still do not know the actual day He was born. For over two thousand years now, the date has remained shrouded in mystery. However, God may have provided for us just enough information to untangle this longstanding riddle. Sifting through that information will be the focus of this book. Using a combination of secular history, archaeology, astronomy, and Holy Scripture, we will develop a comprehensive theory, piece by piece, that supports the chronology for the birth, ministry, and crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. The evidence will be built on a firm foundation starting with God's declaration in Genesis 1:14 that among other things, the heavens are for signs. The famous star that "stood over where the child was," or the "Star of Bethlehem" is one of those signs. Step by step, we will sort through the evidence to build our case one layer at a time, comparing our theory and chronology with secular history, supporting our belief that God's only Son truly walked among us, and that the Bible has provided for us an actual historically accurate account of the life of Jesus of Nazareth.

And just how big was that boat Noah built? Start at the beginning with Pastor Skip Heitzig and the accounts on which the rest of Scripture is built: the creation of the world, the fall of mankind, and God's establishment of the history of the nation of Israel. Follow along and learn not just the origins of man, but also the origins of God's plan for redemption. Understanding the book of Genesis is crucial to understanding the rest of the Bible. And it all starts in the beginning.

This book was released on 2013-06-12 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Each Christmas, the birth of Jesus is celebrated through carols, Bible readings, and nativity plays. The angelic announcements to Mary and Elizabeth, Jesus' birth in a manger, and the gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh are some of the best-known stories in the Bible. But did they really happen? And were they predicted by Israel's prophets, as the Bible claims? Steve Moyise suggests that the clue to answering these questions is to understand how Israel's Scriptures were being interpreted in Jesus' day. Was Isaiah thinking of a virgin birth when he uttered his famous prophecy (Isa 7:14), or is that a later Christian interpretation? Was there a star that led the magi to Bethlehem or should the story be taken symbolically? These and other questions are fully explored and the results are sometimes surprising.

The theological meaning of the virgin birth is rich in and of itself. The author argues that the doctrine has been too long ignored by the church. Collecting from disparate sources into one brief accessible volume, Richard Shenk encourages the church towards boldness, to understand the rich theological treasure that the virgin birth of Christ is for us, and to live out its significance in joy and practice.

Book excerpt: This book is based on a solid commitment to the truth of Gods revelation. We would not know how this world came into being unless God had told us. The sequence of events would remain a mystery without an accurate record of Creation. This book is a retelling of what God has said concerning our creation. The global nature of the first eleven chapters of Genesis reminds us of our insignificance, but on the other hand, the interaction of God with man reflects His assessment of our importance. We are made in Gods image, and that is of great significance. The physical evidence for a cataclysmic destruction somewhere in the earths history is evident in the rocks and fossils. The biblical record explains the reason, the cause, the duration, and the recovery from this great flood. The record of that year supplies answers to a host of geological questions that would otherwise remain hidden. Likewise, the anthropological insight the Babel event supplies is unparalleled in history. Gods Word gives us answers to questions we didnt even know to ask. Finally, regarding our salvationGenesis 12 provides us with the document signed by God that is the basis for our redemption. How do we participate in so great a salvation? Read and see.

You will find answers to many of your questions pertaining to Genesis by understanding the cultural influences and the history of the times surrounding this book of origins. By looking at the science and the latest in scholarship regarding the translation of the original languages, while incorporating all of the sciences that are applicable, we can now see the most complete picture of the truths that are captured in Genesis. Included are the apologetic tools that will enable you to defend your faith using up to date science that supports the Biblical account of creation, including the issues of the speed of light, the flood, and other areas that have been questioned in times past. In Genesis: The King Promised, you will see an explanation of who and what were the persons known as the nephilim, what part they played in the history of the earliest civilization before and after the flood, and whether they still exist today. Genesis: The King Promised cannot provide the answers to all of your questions regarding the beginnings of our world—as no single book could. But by including theology, history, cultural studies, science, and linguistics, this work gives a clearer look at this wondrous book—the Bible.
