Book Synopsis Introduction To Machining Science by : G K Lal
Download or read book Introduction To Machining Science written by G K Lal and published by New Age International. This book was released on 1996 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Machining Processes Have Existed For A Long Time But It Was Only After The Scientific Study Of These Processes Which Started Some Fifty Years Ago That Major Improvements In Tool Design, Tool Materials And Machining Techniques Where Brought About. This Book Is An Attempt To Consolidate The Basic Scientific Studies In The Machining Area So That Fundamental Mechanics And Other Concepts Related To The Primary Machining Processes Could Be Understood. The Chapters Have Been Arranged In A Logical Sequence And The Materials Are Presented In Such A Manner That No Special Background Is Required. He Book Is Essentially Designed For Senior Undergraduate Mechanical / Production Engineering Students But Practicing Engineers Will Also Find It Useful For Tool And Product Design. The Topics Covered Includes, Mechanics Of Machining Processes, Measurement Of Cutting Forces, Thermal Aspects Of Machining, Tool Wear And Tool Life, Economics Of Machining And Grinding Of Metals.Sthe Basic Analyses Presented Have Been Illustrated Through Numerical Examples.

Download or read book Gears written by Vincenzo Vullo and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-01-24 with total page 880 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book explores the geometric and kinematic design of the various types of gears most commonly used in practical applications, also considering the problems concerning their cutting processes. The cylindrical spur and helical gears are first considered, determining their main geometric quantities in the light of interference and undercut problems, as well as the related kinematic parameters. Particular attention is paid to the profile shift of these types of gears either generated by rack-type cutter or by pinion-rack cutter. Among other things, profile-shifted toothing allows to obtain teeth shapes capable of greater strength and more balanced specific sliding, as well as to reduce the number of teeth below the minimum one to avoid the operating interference or undercut. These very important aspects of geometric-kinematic design of cylindrical spur and helical gears are then generalized and extended to the other examined types of gears most commonly used in practical applications, such as: straight bevel gears; crossed helical gears; worm gears; spiral bevel and hypoid gears. Finally, ordinary gear trains, planetary gear trains and face gear drives are discussed. Includes fully-developed exercises to draw the reader's attention to the problems that are of interest to the designer, as well as to clarify the calculation procedure Topics are addressed from a theoretical standpoint, but in such a way as not to lose sight of the physical phenomena that characterize the various types of gears which are examined The analytical and numerical solutions are formulated so as to be of interest not only to academics, but also to designers who deal with actual engineering problems concerning the gears

Book Synopsis The Catholic Church and Modern Sexual Knowledge, 1850-1950 by : Lucia Pozzi
Download or read book The Catholic Church and Modern Sexual Knowledge, 1850-1950 written by Lucia Pozzi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-09-24 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first to present a comprehensive historical picture of the modern Catholic concern with the body and sexuality. The Catholic church is commonly believed to have always opposed birth control and abortion throughout the centuries. Yet the Catholic encounter with modern sexuality has a more complex and interesting history. What was the meaning of sexual purity? Why did eugenics matter to Catholicism? How did the Society of Jesus interpret the idea of overpopulation? Why did Pius XI decide to issue the notorious encyclical Casti connubii on Christian marriage – the first modern papal pronouncement on birth control, abortion, and eugenics? In answering these questions, Lucia Pozzi uncovers new archival and unpublished records to dig into Catholic responses to modern sexual knowledge, showing the Catholic church at times resisting, but also often welcoming, scientific modernity.

Book Synopsis Statics of Historic Masonry Constructions by : Mario Como
Download or read book Statics of Historic Masonry Constructions written by Mario Como and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-01-21 with total page 634 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This successful book, which is now appearing in its second edition, presents a comprehensive new Statics of Masonry Constructions. Masonry constructions are the great majority of the buildings in Europe’s historic centres and the most important monuments in its architectural heritage. Given the age of these constructions, the demand for safety assessments and restoration projects is pressing and constant. The book you hold in hands contributes to fill this demand. The second edition integrates the original text of the first edition with new developments, widening and revisions, due to recent research studies achievements. The result is a book that gives a complete picture of the behaviour of the Masonry Constructions. First of all, it gives the fundamentals of its Statics, based on the no-tension assumption, and then it develops the Limit Analysis for the Masonry Constructions. In this framework, through an interdisciplinary approach combining Engineering and Architecture, the book also investigates the static behaviour of many historic monuments, such as the Pantheon, the Colosseum, the domes of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence and St Peter’s in Rome, as well as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Gothic Cathedrals. Finally, the book gives an in-depth study of masonry buildings under seismic actions.
