Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of Gann's books and courses were written in a veiled language as said by the trading community. What this means is he buried his techniques in his courses. It's there, but the reader has to read and reread his material several times to get anything of trading value out of it. Gann's material is extremely complicated and the trader must have a strong background in mathematics to full benefit from it. Some experts think that he did not put in the books and courses what he really traded with, even though the price of the courses was an unbelievable $3500 at the time he sold them. Converted into today's prices, it would be equivalent to $50,000. He kept the good trading secrets for himself or for those few who could afford to pay him the asking price of $100,000. One of the trading methods that Gann kept to himself was the use of Pythagorean Square. He also kept secret the hexagon and the circle charts. He went to the land of the Pyramids to study the Pythagorean Square to find its secrets. It's believe that he found someone over there who explained how it worked and how it could be used in the markets. We know that Gann used the Pythagorean Square because he was found carrying it with him into the trading pit all the time. This square was hidden in the palm of his hand. How did he use this square? Why did he not discuss the use of this square in his courses? There is only one page covering the Square of Nine in all of his books and courses. Was this square his most valuable tool? These and all the other squares Gann used will be discussed in detail in this book with many illustrations and examples to prove how they work. It almost seems that Gann kept the secret of how to use these charts to himself for two reasons: these charts tell the real mysteries behind the market; and if other traders knew how to use these master charts, it might have hurt his trading. Also included in this book are many of the archived articles previously written in the Gann and Elliott Wave and Traders World magazine on the Square of Nine. These articles are included so you can get a different viewpoint from experts in the field. ...It is just like a professional athlete, he trains over and over again and when he is out on the field he doesn't have to think when he plays, it becomes automatic. You too, must train over and over again using these methods with historical data before you are ready to go out on the field to play or trade.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The last 30 years have seen little improvement in the age-adjusted mortality rates for most common types of cancer, and until we develop more effective and less damaging treatment modalities for these tumours, selection of each patient's treatment must depend on prognostic pointers. These lead to a calculated trade off between our estimate of likely benefit to the patient, as against cost in terms of quality of life. But changes have occurred recently in our understanding of the traditional prognostic pointers used for selecting such individualised treatment. First, it is increasingly recognised that the stage at which a tumour presents is more related to the chromo logical age of the tumour (how far it has progressed before diagnosis) than to its biological characteristics. While advanced chronological age of the tumour may predict a greater likelihood of early death, only biological criteria can predict the tumour growth rate, the likelihood of prolonged survival, the likely course of the disease after the first recurrence or the likehood of response to systemic therapy. Second, there is increasing use of failure analysis in relating the clinical and biological characteristics of tumours to their response to standard treatments. In the past, the relationship was interpreted mainly in terms of survival rate, but the site and timing of first recurrence and the pattern and timing of subsequent spread provide a better assessment of the control possible from local or systemic therapy.

Book excerpt: The Metastasis Group of the European Organization for Research on Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) held an International Meeting at the Royal Institution in London on April 2lst-23rd, 1980. The subject was "Clinical and Experimental Aspects of Metastasis" and these Proceedings are the record of that Meeting. Almost all of those who presented a paper or a poster have written up their contributions as chapters of the Proceedings and we have made no distinction here between posters and oral communications. The Organizers and Editors owe a considerable debt of gratitude to all the contributors who without exception presented the results of their work in a clear and concise manner that did much to reveal the essence of the complex problems central to current thinking on met astasis. Moreover most manuscripts arrived well within the deadline - a circumstance which in our experience is unusual. Of the large audience who attended the Meeting many had come from the far distant corners of the World and to them as well as to the presenters of papers the Organizers wish to express their deep appreciation.

Since the first edition, new information has developed at a remarkable pace. Both editions propose standardized nomenclature that is being used internationally, gaining significant acceptance. The result is improved communications of pathologic data to regulatory agencies and in scientific publications worldwide. New information on the nature and variability of preneoplastic lesions in the liver of laboratory rodents is included in this edition. The book expands data on the accompanying changes in enzyme activity in affected liver cells. Spongiosis hepatis in the rat and its relation to spongiotic pericytoma are discussed thoroughly. Information on many other pathologic entities is brought up to date and new ones are added to this second edition, making it an even more useful and expanded reference text.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Antibiotics I was published in 1967, the teleological view was held by some that" antibiotics" were substances elaborated by certain microorgan isms for the purpose of competing with other microorganisms for survival in mixed ecological environments. However, not only had J. EHRLICH and his associates shown 15 years earlier that chloramphenicol was produced by Strepto myces venezuelae in cultures of sterilized soils but not in parallel cultures of the same soils which were not sterilized, but operationally, the search for anti cancer antibiotics was actively under way (Antibiotics I reporting on numerous such substances), although the concept of antibiosis could not logically justify such undertakings. This editor hesitates to accept the use of the term "antibiotic" for anti microbial agents of non microbiological origins which is sometimes encountered, but neither does he subscribe to the view that antibiotics are in some fundamental manner different from chemotherapeutic substances of other origins. Modes and mechanisms of action of chemotherapeutic compounds are not systematic functions of their origins nor of the taxonomical position of the target organisms. Consequently, in the selection of topics for Antibiotics III (published in 1975), synthetic drugs and natural products of higher plants (alkaloids) were represented, along with antibiotics in the strict sense of the definition. We now present Antibiotics V, for whose assembly the same selection criteria were applied as for Antibiotics Ill. The aggregate length of the contributions rendered it impractical to place the entire text between the covers of one book.
