Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thomas Sowell “both surprises and overturns received wisdom” in this indispensable examination of widespread economic fallacies (The Economist) Economic Facts and Fallacies exposes some of the most popular fallacies about economic issues-and does so in a lively manner and without requiring any prior knowledge of economics by the reader. These include many beliefs widely disseminated in the media and by politicians, such as mistaken ideas about urban problems, income differences, male-female economic differences, as well as economics fallacies about academia, about race, and about Third World countries. One of the themes of Economic Facts and Fallacies is that fallacies are not simply crazy ideas but in fact have a certain plausibility that gives them their staying power-and makes careful examination of their flaws both necessary and important, as well as sometimes humorous. Written in the easy-to-follow style of the author's Basic Economics, this latest book is able to go into greater depth, with real world examples, on specific issues.

The many thousands of books in our collection have been sourced from libraries and private collections around the world. The titles that Trieste Publishing has chosen to be part of the collection have been scanned to simulate the original. Our readers see the books the same way that their first readers did decades or a hundred or more years ago. It is highly unlikely that this would occur with one of our books. Our extensive quality control ensures that the readers of Trieste Publishing's books will be delighted with their purchase. Our staff has thoroughly reviewed every page of all the books in the collection, repairing, or if necessary, rejecting titles that are not of the highest quality. This process ensures that the reader of one of Trieste Publishing's titles receives a volume that faithfully reproduces the original, and to the maximum degree possible, gives them the experience of owning the original work.We pride ourselves on not only creating a pathway to an extensive reservoir of books of the finest quality, but also providing value to every one of our readers. Generally, Trieste books are purchased singly - on demand, however they may also be purchased in bulk. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Humanity is a species in rapid transition. However, the progress being made is not uniform. There is a growing chasm between belief and knowledge that might never be breached. In the area of technology, we are building machines that increasingly take on the ability to reason, we are on the threshold of moving out into space and beginning to engineer life. Now, the very foundations of fundamental existence have been discovered and a new system, unifying the complete range of physics, has been developed. However, humanity may not be able to advance much beyond where we are today, our progress having been cut short by the savagery, ignorance and irrationality maintained within populations. The Pathology of Cultural Delusion announces the new discovery of the foundations of existence, the architecture of the primary particles. This work of discovery, by an American engineer, shows the Cosmos to be a continuum of development and degeneration, with no "Creation", finally providing a rational and unified view of the universe. Origin discusses the human condition and our burgeoning problems in the light of this new knowledge, in the absence of cultural preconceptions of myth and magic. This work addresses the fundamental conceptual pathogens that account for virtually all social dysfunction. This new view displays our present social systems in their true light, as authoritarian, manipulating, deluding and generating adversity, maintaining populations at diminished levels of mentality, unable to effectively protest or press for fundamental changes.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Fundamental Fallacy of Socialism: An Exposition of the Question of Landownership, Comprising an Authentic Account of the Famous McGlynn Case Who owns the land? To this question two answers are given: The land is the common property of all men, or the land of each coun try belongs to the whole people of that coun try as their common property. This is the answer Of Communists, Socialists and Agra rians. The rest of mankind deny this com mon landownership and maintain that the land is owned in severalty, either by individ uals or by corporations. The best known and most enthusiastic advocate of common landownership is Henry George; the most prominent defender Of private ownership in land is Pope Leo XIII. The teachings of Henry George are chiefly comprised in his Progress and Poverty and in his Open Letter to Pope Leo XIII.; those of Leo XIII. In his Encyclical Rerum No varum, of May 15th, 1891. Henry George considers private property in land to be the ultimate root and source of the social evils which are so keenly felt and' so bitterly deplored by all. The real cause Of the evil being ascertained, the true remedy is Obvious: we must abolish private property in land and substitute common ownership. But is the abolition Of private landownership in harmony with natural justice? It is, be cause private ownership of land is essentially and irremediably wrong and unjust.
