Dabei werde ich mich auf die Arbeiten bzw. Theorien von Sigmund Freud beziehen, dem Begründer der Psychoanalyse. Im folgenden Text erläutere ich zunächst die Grundzüge der psychoanalytischen Entwicklungstheorien, unter anderem das psychoanalytische Konfliktmodell, und gehe dann zu der Interaktion von Eltern und Kind über. Hier werde ich die verschiedenen Rollen des Kindes beschreiben, die ihm von den Eltern aufgrund eigener Konflikte zugeteilt werden. Dabei beziehe ich mich auch auf den Ansatz von Richter, der als einer der ersten auf die "Verschränkung elterlicher Erwartungen mit den kindlichen Verhaltensweisen, Bedürfnissen und Erwartungen" (Hurrelmann / Ulrich 1998; S.78) eingegangen ist. Er hat also - im Gegensatz zu Freud - die Beziehung der Eltern zum Kind genauer analysiert. Zum Schluss befasse ich mich dann noch mit der Frage, warum die frühkindliche Sozialisation trotz allem doch gut funktioniert.
