Book Synopsis ABRAHAM: The Obedience of Faith by : Frederick Brotherton Meyer
Download or read book ABRAHAM: The Obedience of Faith written by Frederick Brotherton Meyer and published by Christian Publishing House. This book was released on 2022-03-15 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this historical accounting of the great patriarch, Meyer concentrates on the development of Abraham’s faith through the difficult times and successes and victories of his life. Abraham’s trust in God was strong when he left his father’s homeland; He learned even more fully to rely on God rather than himself, which is why he became the father of faith. Meyer delivers to his readers Abraham’s life with detailed attention to archaeological discoveries and cultural customs. However, he is also very focused on the spiritual principles for readers. The outcome is a complex portrait of one of the most significant characters in the Bible, a devotional biography for those who are “by faith, children of Abraham.”

Book Synopsis The Three Daughters of Abraham by : Donald L. Shaffer
Download or read book The Three Daughters of Abraham written by Donald L. Shaffer and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2003 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I wrote this book after much study following Sept. 11, 2001. I saw enough so that I felt the need to make my findings available to others. Now, after much more study, my views have developed considerably. There is value in what I had seen before. It was part of my journey to getting where I am now. To the extent that I was in error, it was mostly that I was still taking much of what I read literally. I now realize that the Bible was always meant to be interpreted figuratively. My recent studies and revelations are concerning the Garden of Eden, the Sword of the Lord, and Paul's thorn in the flesh. These things and more are closely related. Book Synopsis The Woman Who Named God by : Charlotte Gordon
Download or read book The Woman Who Named God written by Charlotte Gordon and published by Little, Brown. This book was released on 2009-07-28 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The saga of Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar is the tale of origin for all three monotheistic faiths. Abraham must choose between two wives who have borne him two sons. One wife and son will share in his wealth and status, while the other two are exiled into the desert. Long a cornerstone of Western anxiety, the story chronicles a very famous and troubled family, and sheds light on the ongoing conflict between the Judeo-Christian and Islamic worlds. How did this ancient story become one of the least understood and most frequently misinterpreted of our cultural myths? Gordon explores this legendary love triangle to give us a startling perspective on three biblical characters who -- with their jealousies, passions, and doubts -- actually behave like human beings. The Woman Who Named God is a compelling, smart, and provocative take on one of the Bible's most intriguing and troubling love stories.
Download or read book Holy Spirit written by Eulalie Hendricks and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-02-20 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is two thousand years overdue in its telling. Since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, God declared a state of war between Satan and the woman and her offspring, therefore, Satan hates women with every fiber of his being (Gen. 3:14, 15, MSG). Since time immemorial, Satan has worked relentlessly to try and steal, kill, and destroy women, trying to steal our knowledge of who we are in Christ Jesus, trying to beat us down and kill us with abuse, and trying to steal from us our dignity, our value, our worth, our identity, and ultimately, our joy (1 Pet. 5:8). For too long, Satan has kept us deceived, demeaned, and defeated, but Jeremiah declares, "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know" (Jer. 33:3). Through Jesus's glorious gospel of grace, God is lifting the veil of darkness that has kept Christians blinded to the truth of who women are in Christ and all that is ours as heirs to His throne of grace. A grace revolution is sweeping our planet, and part of that is the unveiling of women's identity in the Godhead and all that we are in Christ Jesus. Two thousand years ago, at the cross of Calvary, God returned to man His glory, and this book unveils all that that means to us as daughters of the Most High, and it reveals the fullness of who we are as His comforters, helpers, and beautiful shekinahs.

Book Synopsis Abraham's Beginnings by : Unknown Hebrew
Download or read book Abraham's Beginnings written by Unknown Hebrew and published by Unknown Hebrew. This book was released on 2019-07-26 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abraham is the father of the three religions: Islam, Christianity, Judaism. Our understanding of Abraham and his stories differs depending on which religion we believe. However, let us begin with our belief and examine his story while he was Avram. He was born as a descendant of Shem in 2166 B.C.; at a place where idols were worshiped by a group known as the Chaldeans. We know those practices influenced Terah: his father, when we look at the Book of Joshua 24:2-3, which states, “2 And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith YAHUAH ELOHIM of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods. 3 And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac." Avram stood out as a man who sought and listened to YAHUAH when He spoke. Avram was eventually referred to as a friend of YAHUAH. When exploring Abraham’s life, we will show the three main events that stand out and examine why YAHUAH chose him to start a new chapter in redemptive history. Avram made one huge mistake with Hagar, but YAHUAH used him anyway. YAHUAH called Avram, but did you know He had to do so twice? There are two instances where Avram had to leave his hometown; first, he left Ur of the Chaldeans along with his father, Terah. Read Genesis 11:31, which says, “31 And Terah took Avram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Avram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.” Read carefully what Genesis 12:1 states, “1 Now YAHUAH had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee.” Notice his “kindred” was with him. We are told he departed his father's house, and he left Haran at the age of 75; this can be found in Genesis 12:4. It states, “4 So Avram departed, as YAHUAH had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Avram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.” Remember what we are told in Acts 7:2, which states, “2 And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The ELOHIM of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,” Here we see ELOHIM appearing to Avram in Mesopotamia before he dwelt in Haran (Charran). This event happened before Genesis 11:31. We will discover that Avram lived as a stranger in a foreign land, a land promised to him but was never given a foot of; the author of Hebrew 11:9 records this as an act of faith. It states, “9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise.” Abraham believed in YAHUAH's promise and placed his hope in that promise. Wherever he went, he built an altar for YAHUAH; and lived according to His commands. Follow us on his journey from Avram to Abraham; the truth is just one click away.
Download or read book The Three Princes of God written by RV and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2015-02-02 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does God require? A humble heart, a willing spirit, and a life that He can control. God called Abraham to be His chosen vessel. And from him came Isaac and Jacob, and Jacob became Israel, from whom the Messiah was born. Through the obedience of one man, God accomplished what He wanted. He loved His creation too much to let them be, so he came down and rescued his chosen ones from their own self destruction. God Almighty called Abraham when he was a pagan, deeply involved with the cult of his father’s era. He desperately wanted to get out, but that was his culture and attempting to escape would have left Abraham with nothing. His father owned everything and was in control of Abraham’s life. And if he left, where would he have gone? How about you? Are you trying to escape from the One that can give you what world can’t give you? The Bible is my inspiration. I took a journey with my Savior and He has guided me to write this book to let others know how much He loves us. God is serious about saving souls, for it is said in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting Life.”
