Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Isiah Daniels, an intelligent, articulate, athletic black man, from the projects, was recruited to play basketball at the University of Miami by their largest booster, Donovan Taylor, a white entrepreneur who eventually became the Speaker of the House of Representatives for the State of Florida. Isiah, after obtaining his MBA, was hired by Donovan to eventually run his publically held company. Isiah, with Donovan’s bigoted consent, also married Donovan’s eldest daughter, Sophie Taylor, an attorney at one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in Miami. Both of those events were fulfilled for Taylor’s political ambition to become the Governor of the State. Isiah, over Donovan’s objections, began to hire many blacks to work for Donovan’s company. Some of whom were eventually promoted over many better qualified white employees who had more seniority. Isiah’s wife believed that she became aware of a scheme, by employees and customers, to embezzle funds from her father’s Company. She believes that her husband, Isiah, may be one of the perpetrators. Before Sophie had the opportunity to communicate the scheme to the authorities, she was murdered by a hired black old friend of Isiah. That individual, without authorization, contracted out Sophie’s murder to a low life white criminal who bungled the murder dreadfully. That event caused the original black man hired to kill Sophie, to be murdered. This book takes the reader into the world of a racist reprisal by the Taylor family against their black son-in-law and the other persons involved in a multi-country scheme to embezzle funds from the billion dollar Company. The book sets forth the mystery of who committed both murders as well as who were involved in the complicated scheme of embezzlement. The greed of the Donovan’s family and the Daniels’ family and their friends, intensifies the mystery as to whom may have committed the murders and embezzled hundreds of millions of dollars.

Book excerpt: The two women found dead in their beds had been executed. There was no robbery, no sexual motivation. The satanic writings and red candles found at the scene had been staged to throw investigators off track. The killer, or killers, just wanted the women dead! One of them, Betty Lou Gray, had been the primary target, while the other, a close friend, had simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time. From the beginning, the prime suspect had been Betty Lou's husband Bill. A dominating and controlling husband, he had kept his wife penniless and almost in bondage for 28 years until, finally, she'd had enough and asked for a divorce. The obvious motivation was money, a $250,000 life insurance policy, and with his wife dead there would be no splitting of assets in a divorce settlement. If he could succeed in hiding the insurance money and the pawnshop assets from his children, Bill Gray would become a rich man. It seemed an open and shut case, but it was not to be. In this true story, Dixie Murphy follows a trail of suspicion and intrigue, and reveals the virtually unprecedented means used to finally bring a murderer to justice.

Book excerpt: From the author of Above Suspicion: The “riveting” true story of Charles Stuart, who murdered his pregnant wife and pinned the crime on a black man in 1980s Boston (Kirkus Reviews). On October 23, 1989, affluent businessman Charles Stuart made a frantic 911 call from his car to report that he and his seven-months-pregnant wife, Carol, a lawyer, had been robbed and shot by a black male in the Mission Hill neighborhood of Boston. By the time police arrived, Carol was dead, and the baby was soon lost as well. The attack incited a furor during a time of heightened racial tension in the community. Even more appalling, while the injuries were real, Stuart’s story was a hoax: He was the true killer. But the tragedy would continue with the arrest of Willie Bennett, a young man Stuart identified in a line-up. Stuart’s deception would only be exposed after a shocking revelation from his brother and, finally, his suicide, when he jumped into the freezing waters of the Mystic River. As the story unraveled, police would put together the disturbing pieces of a puzzle that included Stuart’s distress over his wife’s pregnancy, his romantic interest in a coworker, and life insurance fraud. In an account that “builds and grips like a novel” (Kirkus Reviews), New York Times journalist Joe Sharkey delivers “a picture of a man consumed by naked ambition, unwilling to let anyone or anything get in his way” (Library Journal). Revised and updated, this ebook also includes photos and a new epilogue by the author.

Book excerpt: At thirty-nine, Nancy Kissel had it all: glamour, wealth and the royal lifestyle of the expatriate wife. Not to mention three young children and what a friend described as "the best marriage in the universe" to Robert Kissel, a hugely successful investment banker. But that marriage ended abruptly one November night in 2003 in the bedroom of their luxury apartment high above Hong Kong's glittering Victoria Harbour. Hong Kong prosecutors, who charged Nancy with murder, said she wanted to inherit Robert's millions and start a new life with her lover. She said she'd killed her husband in self-defence while fighting for her life against a brutal, cocaine-addicted husband. Her trial in 2005 captured attention worldwide, and less than a year after the verdict Rob's brother Andrew, a real estate tycoon facing prison for fraud and embezzlement was also found dead - tied up and stabbed in the basement of his multi-million dollar home by person or persons unknown. Never Enough is the harrowing true story of Robert and Andrew Kissel, who wanted to own the world but instead wound up murdered half a world apart; and of Nancy Kissel, a riddle wrapped inside an enigma, for whom having it all might not have been enough.

Book excerpt: He'd been shot in the head, decapitated, and set on fire. Who could have turned on the real-estate ace with such bloodthirsty fury? Even before the remains were found, circumstantial evidence was building against Rudin's 52-year-old wife, Margaret, who stood to inherit a handsome share of her husband's fortune. Rudin's friends also suspected Margaret, and the victim has thought that his wife was trying to poison him when he was alive. Then a chilling caveat was discovered in Rudin's living trust: should he die under violent circumstances, an investigation should be conducted. By the time authorities closed in on Margaret Rudin she'd disappeared. It would take two and a half years to hunt the Black Widow down, and to discover the secrets at the heart of poisonous marriage... Now, reporter Michael Fleeman delivers a startling glimpse into the mind of a woman who would stop at nothing to get what she wanted. Fleeman also details the relentless pursuit of justice that would lead authorities from the glamorous facade of Las Vegas to a squalid apartment on the outskirts of Boston, to hold the remorseless wife accountable for her shocking crimes.

A story that had to be told. An incredible read that will keep you on the edge of your seat!” - Country Music Star Deborah Allen In 1989, country newcomer Sammy Sadler had already charted several critically-acclaimed singles and was ready to release his first album when he was shot during the assassination of then Cash Box chart-manager, Kevin Hughes, an incident known around the world as the “Murder on Music Row.” The police had no suspects, and even though Sammy suffered a nearly fatal bullet wound, the officers kept him under suspicion during the 13-year investigation. Eventually, the investigation would reveal an elaborate web of corruption, chart-rigging and payola, a clear motive and suspect for the murder. An ending that rocked the music industry for many years to come. In this first-hand account, Sadler recounts his personal and sensational journey from wide-eyed, promising, Top-40 newcomer to “person of interest” and survivor of one of the most infamous killings in the music business. From his struggle to recover from his nearly-fatal injuries to the turmoil endured during the 13-year career-throttling investigation, this autobiographical account is a demonstration of his faith and his resilient passion for music that would allow him to move forward and continue to pursue his dreams. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The true story of Barbara Hoffman is a tale of money, men, and the Madison, Wisconsin, massage parlor where a biochemistry major turned into a murderer. On a freezing Christmas morning, a distraught young man named Gerald Davies led Madison police to Tomahawk Ridge, where they found the body of Harold Berge, naked, bloody, and beaten. Davies insisted that he hadn’t killed the man, but that he and his fiancée had simply buried the corpse in a snowbank. The investigation confirmed that the victim had died in the apartment of Barbara Hoffman—a young woman who had dropped out of the University of Wisconsin and had worked at Jan’s Health Studio, a local massage parlor. She and Davies, whom she met at Jan’s, had recently become engaged. The circumstances were suspicious already. But when the police discovered that Berge was Hoffman’s ex-lover, that he had signed over his house and an insurance policy to her—and that Davies had also made her his beneficiary—they began to suspect that Davies might also be in danger . . . The police kept him under watch, but eventually had to stop surveillance. Soon after, Davies turned up dead in his bathtub, a Valium bottle nearby, in an apparent suicide. But, an accomplished student of chemistry, Hoffman knew how tricky it could be to detect cyanide poisoning. It would take a dedicated effort by detectives to sort out the truth about the highly intelligent masseuse, her work in the shadowy local sex trade, and the real circumstances that led two of her clients to their deaths. Winter of Frozen Dreams is the full story of the case that would become a sensational televised trial and inspire a film of the same name starring Thora Birch. It’s a “snappy read” by an author with a “talent for sleuthy description and psychological insight” (Kirkus Reviews).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gerard Gallacher served as a police officer in Glasgow from the 1980s and three decades onwards. It was the time when drugs seized hold of the city and a new set of ruthless criminals were threatening to take control. There was still the usual violence of the city to deal with, including domestic violence, gang warfare and robbery, but it was the huge increase in drug use that defined the times and led to many of the most notorious incidents in the city's criminal past. And Gerard Gallacher was in the thick of the action. As a detective, Gallacher knew and dealt with all the major criminals of the times; including Arthur Thompson and his son Arthur Jnr, Tam McGraw, Paul Ferris, Joe Hanlon and Bobby Glover. He gave evidence at Ferris' murder trial, he discovered that Arthur Thomson was a Security Services asset and was the first detective on the scene when Hanlon and Glover were murdered. He delivered the police warning to infamous criminal Frank McPhie to tell him that his life was in danger, a warning that went unheeded.Gallacher was also involved in countless other high profile investigations, including the notorious drugs feud between former friends Tony McGovern and James Stevenson which ended in assassination. This is a compelling account of a police career at the sharp end of the action by a detective who wouldn't toe the line. And as well as giving his forthright views on the less than exemplary conduct of some senior officers, Gallacher now reveals what really happened behind the scenes in some of the country's most high profile cases.

Book excerpt: The book “GREEDY BUSINESS” is a satire directed at human behaviour, particularly in regards to human priorities to choose between acts of humanitarianism and greed. The author notes that politics indeed is part and parcel of life but no where is it so vividly portrayed than in education and at the work place to satisfy human obsession with greed. Then he admitted, I cannot deny my role in that but that cannot justify it. As individuals we allow Greed to Triumph Morality without humanitarian consideration for others in our efforts to improve quality of our life and that is inexcusable. This book is therefore about that aspect of human thinking that can justify individuals doing things to others that they would not like others to do them. I wonder how many of us find the necessity to take a step backward to explore the choices we have made to do the things we have done to others that we would not like to be done to us because if done to us they would likely destroy our quality of life. Yet some how, some of us can justify some of the things we do to others as the result of the choices we have made without humanitarian consideration for them in the name of improving quality of our lives at the expense of our victims. Well! I did take a step backward and my observations suggest that human’s obsession with Greed confirms why we do the things to others that we would not like to be done to us. Our tendency to want more and more at the expense of others without humanitarian consideration for the quality of life of others has blinded our moral responsibility to be fair. The purpose of writing this book is therefore to share my observations and thoughts with others in the hope that they too may find the need to take a step backward and explore the choices made in the past to do certain things to others that they would not like others to do to them.
