Neben der Beschreibung des Feldzugangs und der dabei aufgetretenen Schwierigkeiten gibt es umfassende Beschreibungen zur Lebenslage von Kursteilnehmenden, zur Akzeptanz diagnostischer Instrumentarien sowohl bei Kursleitenden als auch -teilnehmenden, zur biographischen Bedeutsamkeit des Kursbesuchs, zum Zusammenhang zwischen Kursbesuch und Lernfortschritten, zum Einfluss regionaler Besonderheiten sowie Überlegungen zur Umsetzung der Erkenntnisse in der Alphabetisierungspraxis. We acknowledge that studies such as PIAAC are often designed, financed and implemented on the basis of neo-liberal worldviews.
