This book covers stories and riddles from Reginalds first two books. It covers a wide variety of topics in a simple, unique style that will maintain the interest of everyone. You will be taken on an exciting adventure that ripples through Bible characters, places, events, joys, and sorrows from Genesis to Revelation. You will be entertained and challenged as familiar old stories come alive and seem just as current as todays headlines. It is not the authors objective to write a tell-all book. Many details have been omitted, particularly in the stories, for the sake of brevity and interest and so that you, the reader, will search the Bible for yourself. If you are knowledgeable about the scriptures, you will find the riddles a lot of fun. Otherwise, you will learn. There are twenty-six sets of them in this volume and another twenty-six planned for Bible Riddles, Poems, and Stories: Volume 2 to be released soon. These are ideal for youth groups, Sabbath school, Sunday school, or even just to spend quality time with your Bible.

Book Synopsis Regional Fictions by : Stephanie Foote
Download or read book Regional Fictions written by Stephanie Foote and published by Univ of Wisconsin Press. This book was released on 2001-03-29 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Out of many, one—e pluribus unum—is the motto of the American nation, and it sums up neatly the paradox that Stephanie Foote so deftly identifies in Regional Fictions. Regionalism, the genre that ostensibly challenges or offers an alternative to nationalism, in fact characterizes and perhaps even defines the American sense of nationhood. In particular, Foote argues that the colorful local characters, dialects, and accents that marked regionalist novels and short stories of the late nineteenth century were key to the genre’s conversion of seemingly dangerous political differences—such as those posed by disaffected Midwestern farmers or recalcitrant foreign nationals—into appealing cultural differences. She asserts that many of the most treasured beliefs about the value of local identities still held in the United States today are traceable to the discourses of this regional fiction, and she illustrates her contentions with insightful examinations of the work of Sarah Orne Jewett, Hamlin Garland, Gertrude Atherton, George Washington Cable, Jacob Riis, and others. Broadening the definitions of regional writing and its imaginative territory, Regional Fictions moves beyond literary criticism to comment on the ideology of national, local, ethnic, and racial identity.

Download or read book The Professor's Puzzle written by Michael S. Lawson and published by B&H Publishing Group. This book was released on 2015-09-01 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Professor’s Puzzle is designed as a handbook for new and aspiring professors to help them transition from the independent research of their doctoral program to classroom teaching. Unfortunately, acquiring a Ph.D. often does not involve real preparation for teaching. One cannot assume that mastering content necessarily means one is qualified to teach it. Drawing from years of experience training young faculty members, professor Michael S. Lawson gathers together the best of educational research and practices, leavened with the yeast of Christian theology, so that readers are equipped to put the “teaching puzzle” together. Ideal for aspiring professors in Christian higher education, as well as all who enter the teaching profession, so they may learn artful teaching and careful administration.

Habit: Establish routines and rituals that reinforce “the way we do things around here.” Innovation: Promote the constant tinkering that produces surprising new solutions to old problems. Book Synopsis And with All Your Mind by : Steven H. Propp
Download or read book And with All Your Mind written by Steven H. Propp and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2010-12-21 with total page 674 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Its 1971, and Silas Baker is a high school senior in California, whose main interests are basketball, and weekend parties. But his life takes a dramatic turn, when he encounters a group of committed Christians, who soberly inform him that Jesus is coming soon! They enroll at Riverstent Bible College. Its an exciting time, as leading Bible teachers have predicted that Jesus will return to Rapture his Church within one generation of the 1948 formation of the State of Israel. Popular movies further inflame this passion, as the eager students study Apologetics and Biblical Archaeology; aberrant theologies such as the Death-of-God movement; and even conflicting interpretations of the End Times. An activist spirit develops within evangelicalism, culminating in the so-called Christian Right, as the evangelical world is rocked in the aftermath of the televangelist scandals. Confronted by world views such as Calvinism and Christian Reconstruction, the characters passionately debate controversies such as Biblical Inerrancy and the age of the cosmos, in addition to challenging evangelicals who deny traditional doctrines such as that of endless punishment in Hell, or who promote an Open (yet limited) concept of God himself. As society evolves, so does evangelicalism: seeker sensitive megachurches appear, while Postmodernism and the Emergent Church become realities. Theologians wrestle with the question of divorce and remarriage, and the role of women in the church, as well as the divisive issue of homosexuality. As they struggle with lifes realities, they ultimately must also respond to nonchristians who are alienated, indifferent, or engaged in active opposition to Christianity, while searching for the meaning of Christian faith in the modern world.
