In den vergangen Jahren gewann das Thema Sprache immer mehr an Wichtigkeit. Es geht bei der Sprachförderung nicht ausschließlich um die Förderung für Kinder mit Sprach- und Sprechstörungen oder Kinder mit Migrationshintergrund. Die Dringlichkeit für eine Sprachförderung aller Kinder rückt in den Fokus. Durch die Veröffentlichung der PISA- Studie (2003) wurde deutlich, nicht nur Kinder aus sozial benachteiligten Schichten oder mit Migrationshintergrund weisen Defizite vor. Es sind insgesamt immer mehr Kinder von Sprachauffälligkeiten im Grundschulalter betroffen. Schon vor der Geburt beginnt die Sprachentwicklung. Es ist somit auch Aufgabe der Kita, die Sprachentwicklung zu fördern und den Kindern den Eintritt in die Schule zu erleichtern, sie "fit" für den Schuleintritt zu machen. Rose Götte (2007, S.14) beschreibt die Sprachentwicklung als den Motor für die Gesamtentwicklung der kindlichen Persönlichkeit. Die Persönlichkeitsaspekte des Kindes zu entwickeln und zu fördern gehört zur Stärkung der Basiskompetenzen eines Kindes und ist im Hessischen Bildungs- und Erziehungsplan als Erziehungsziel aufgeführt. Die Formulierungen von Götte (2007, S.14) "Schlüssel zum Verständnis der Welt" oder "Motor für die Gesamtentwicklung" lassen erahnen, welche Bedeutung Sprache für ein Kind hat.

Moreover, a variety of language contact situations is considered with broad variation in the typological distances between the languages in order to enable cross-linguistic comparison. In the present volume, an attempt is also made to find out how transfer from one language to the other is facilitated.
