Book excerpt: After the death of her husband Nancy Goldman remarries and hopes for a quiet life in Miami but is drawn into murder and drug smuggling after learning her new husband has stolen drugs from the “mob.” She made a terrible mistake marrying him and desperately wants a divorce after overhearing him tell someone he kills for them. She tells him she wants a divorce and he threatens to stop her by any means necessary. She has to run to stay alive. A friend discovers her college fiancé, Dan Crosby, is a retired attorney who has written a book and dedicated it to her! He lives in Arizona. He hoped, but never expected, she would find his book. They haven’t seen each other in almost forty years. She asks her niece to find him. After he’s told about her wanting a divorce he agrees to go to Miami, with his dog Rudy, thinking he’s going to help, instead he is caught in a deadly game of murder, cocaine, and the “mob.” Tony Goldman is desperate to keep his construction business afloat. He needed money and turned to the “mob” as a last resort for help. They now control his life. He has to transport cocaine to Detroit as part of his “loan,” resents what he has to do, and decides to steal some for himself. Now he’s running from them. Nancy finds out what he’s done and with Dan’s help steals his cocaine but they can’t go to the police - yet. They have to elude him to stay alive. Tony knows Nancy stole his cocaine. He wants to find and kill her and get the cocaine back before the “mob” finds and kills him. Adding to his problems he learns Detroit “mob” boss, Carmine Rizzo, has come to Miami to make an example of him. Rizzo has to get the cocaine back before his boss kills him. Reputations must be maintained. With the help of a Miami D.A. Dan creates a plan to bring Tony and Rizzo together so they can be stopped before Nancy is killed. So the cocaine can be kept off the streets and out-of-the-hands of the “mob.” But plans can sometimes go very wrong. Will Nancy get her divorce or will Tony kill her and get the cocaine back? Will Carmine kill both of them? Will the “mob” win in the end? She wonders, because of Dan’s help, if this is a second chance for them or will he leave again?

Book excerpt: Dominic Carelli, in the long-standing tradition of fathers taking their sons to see their first baseball game, had planned on taking Dominic Jr (DJ) to his first baseball game. Dominic's father, David, was going to provide them both with the tickets. Dominic, however, was hoping that along with the tickets, a slice of family history would be told firsthand from the only person who could tell it properly because he was the one who lived it. While in David's office, his grandson holds up an object and asks a seemingly innocent question: "What's this?" After getting a little kick-start from his grandson, David takes them both on the most improbable story of a lifetime about living out a dream and making it a reality.

Book excerpt: The incredible true story of a 100,000-mile motorcycle world record attempt where the only thing that didn't break was their spirit. In the spring of 2022, renowned long distance motorcycle riders Wendy Crockett and Ian McPhee set out to execute their meticulously planned World Record ride attempt. The premise was simple enough: Visit every Australian state in alphabetical order, documenting each visit by photographing the state’s capitol building. The approach would then be replicated in the United States, visiting a grand total of 58 capitols on an epic road trip adventure spanning two continents and three countries. Reality hit hard with the revelation that absolutely nothing about this undertaking was destined to go smoothly. Yet even in the face of unfathomable adversity, including breakdowns, illness, animals strikes, historic weather events, and multiple hospitalizations, this tenacious duo refused to abandon their quest. Fueled by boundless optimism and unrelenting determination, Pushing Miles is a brutally honest and surprisingly humorous look at what it takes to make an uphill ride into endurance motorcycling history.

Book excerpt: Apache Gold By: Earl Farabaugh Jack Cummings receives a call from his mother with some troubling family news. Suddenly, he finds his ordinary life in Chicago uprooted, landing himself on a Native American reservation where his grandfather built a life as a well-respected veterinarian. The reservation is a far cry from the modern civilization Cummings is used to. He doesn’t quite fit in, but the desert landscape has its own alluring charm. And the Apache people have so much to teach him about their culture and his own. As Cummings begins to unravel his family history, he begins to understand the injustices the Apache Indians have endured at the hands of the American government. He also learned of a lost gold treasure that many have hunted but never found. All other explorers were left for the vultures to find. The gold could change history, certainly could change Cummings’ life forever… but can he find it and live to tell the tale?

Cecil Erwin Waite learned first- hand how take difficult, unbearable situations and turn them into blessings. When their first-born child wasnt expected to live through the night, they prayed. Through their faith, their young son also became a survivor and continues to thrive to this day. As he faced obstacles throughout his life, Erwin learned at a young age that things worthwhile dont come easily. He also found that in midst of trials and tribulations, there was always a greater power from above whom he could always rely on during lifes deepest, darkest moments when all would seem lost. He knew his life had purpose and that serving others made that purpose that much greater.

Book excerpt: In the heart-stopping finale to the Crown of Feathers trilogy, which #1 New York Times bestselling author Kendare Blake calls “absolutely unforgettable,” Veronyka must face her most devastating enemy yet: her own sister. I had a sister, once… Veronyka is no longer an orphaned stable boy or a nameless Phoenix Rider apprentice: she is the daughter of Pheronia Ashfire, the last queen of the Golden Empire…and the niece of Avalkyra Ashfire, the resurrected rebel queen who tore the empire apart. We shone brightly, burned fiercely. Now that the secret is out, everyone at the Eyrie treats Veronyka differently, and with Tristan still a hostage of the scheming Lord Rolan—and Sev with him as a spy—Veronyka feels very much alone. Except for her beloved phoenix, Xephyra, of course, and her new friend, Kade, who has his own reasons for wanting to save Tristan. Was it always going to come down to this? Sister against sister? Darkness against light? Veronyka is determined to do whatever it takes to get Tristan back, even if that means revealing her identity to the world and inheriting a throne she’s not sure she wants. But when she discovers that Avalkyra has bonded with a strix—a legendary creature of darkness that feeds off the life force of others—Veronyka realizes she has more to deal with than an encroaching war with the empire. Val is willing to destroy everything to get her revenge on a world that rejected her, and if Veronyka wants to bring peace to the empire and Pyra alike, she must face down her sister once and for all. The world began with Ashfire queens…perhaps they will also be its destruction.

Three people stand between the terrorists and a vulnerable metropolis: C. Ronald Cannon, a professor whose wife and children were murdered by ISIS; Laura Fatopoulos, a Muslim and FBI special agent who has dedicated her career to eradicating extremist factions; and boy-genius Juan Miguel, an illegal immigrant whose understanding of the electric grid exceeds that of most law enforcement professionals. Together, they travel to Austria and back—in only thirteen hours—to stop the terrorists from plunging the Valley of the Sun into chaos and anarchy. Learn what the terrorists already know and your role to help alleviate this real-life threat by reading The Red Saguaro: A Novel of National Import.
