Book Synopsis Facial Reflexology - Dien Chan Zone by : Beatrice Moricoli and Vittorio Bergagnini
Download or read book Facial Reflexology - Dien Chan Zone written by Beatrice Moricoli and Vittorio Bergagnini and published by Anima Srl. This book was released on 2016-11-24 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “The key to health is on your face and in your hands” This book presents a self-care method unique in its genre, which offers extraordinary, sometimes amazing and often immediate results for all kinds of disharmony in the body. The method began life in 1980s Vietnam – like many important discoveries, a result of war and necessity – independent of resource availability. It was developed by a group of acupuncturists to put healing in the hands of the masses by replacing needles with equally effective blunt rounded tools. It is the most recent reflexology on the planet and has nothing to do with other oriental techniques related to the face. Today ‘Dien Chan’ is a popular and accepted method of healthcare in its home country and part of their official system. However, it is the work of two self declared Italian ‘free-sprits’, over the past twenty years, which has suitably translated the technique and advanced it to meet the needs of modern Westerners. No longer a painful stimulation of pre-defined points; it has evolved to a relaxing massage of zones and individual, personalised points. ‘Dien Chan Zone’ incorporates simplified principles and teachings of Traditional Chinese Medicine, protocols for allergies and intolerances, a unique Facial-Cranial reflexology and a beauty treatment to tone muscle and regulate skin function. It is the authors’ overriding intention to facilitate learning and to make this method accessible to everyone. In this book they share full instructions for self-treatment which they know present a great frontier of freedom, and the medicine of the future. Contains 95 full colour maps Beatrice Moricoli, founder of S.I.R.F.A./A.I.R.F.I. in Milan, is the first female teacher of Dien Chan (Zone) in Italy, but for many years has practiced also as a therapist and teacher of Reiki, Shiatsu, Tui Na, Chinese Medicine and ‘The Blowing Technique’. Vittorio Bergagnini, founder of S.I.R.F.A./A.I.R.F.I. in Milan, is a teacher of Dien Chan Zone as well as Tai Chi Chuan, Reiki, Foot Reflexoogy and Wung Chun.

Book Synopsis Total Reflexology of the Hand by : Martine Faure-Alderson
Download or read book Total Reflexology of the Hand written by Martine Faure-Alderson and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2016-05-17 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to apply the precise treatment techniques of Total Reflexology, which combines craniosacral therapy and foot reflexology, to the hands • Explains the special relationship between the hand and the brain, making hand reflexology ideal for treatment of neurological, mental, and emotional disorders • Details how to use the occipital zones of craniosacral therapy to pinpoint which zones and points on the hands to treat • Includes full-color detailed maps of the pressure points and zones of the hands One of the most defining physical characteristics of humanity, the hands contain reflex zones and pressure points related to the systems and organs of the body just like the feet. The reflex zones and points of the hands present the most effective means of treating psychological and neurological disorders due to their sophisticated relationship with the brain. Applying her ground-breaking combination of reflexology and craniosacral therapy to the hands, Dr. Martine Faure-Alderson explains how to use hand reflexology to treat the brain and each of the body’s systems, from the digestive system to the human energetic system. She provides precise full-color mapped hand diagrams illustrating the exact placement of the points according to the bones of the hands, the result of more than 40 years of research and clinical practice. She explains how to use the occipital zones of craniosacral therapy to pinpoint which zones and points on the hands to treat. Examining the psychological level of brain-hand interactions, the author reveals how neurological dysfunctions and mental disorders respond more readily to hand reflexology than to other forms of therapies. She explains how many physical ailments have a psychological component and how reflexology automatically triggers the release of endorphins by working directly on the autonomic nervous system. The author explores the role of nutritional supplements, including Omega 3s, as a support to reflexology therapy and shows how finely tuned reflexology stimulates the body’s self-healing abilities and cellular regeneration, making this an indispensable resource for holistic health practitioners and for home self-care.

Book Synopsis Estrogens and Brain Function by : D.W. Pfaff
Download or read book Estrogens and Brain Function written by D.W. Pfaff and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together some of the results and ideas produced by a large number of people-colleagues and students with whom I am privileged to work in the laboratory at Rockefeller University. In terms of my personal history I see it as a confluence of creative forces persons from whom I have learned. I was instructed in neuroanatomy by Walle J. H. Nauta at M. I. T. , and later in a course at Harvard Medical School under the direction of Richard Sidman. At Harvard Medical School, where M. I. T. graduate students were allowed to cross register, the superb neurophysiology course was under the guiding spirit of Stephen Kuffler. Later, I benefited greatly from participating in his summer course in electrophysiological techniques at Woods Hole. Eric Kandel and his colleagues have provided us with the most exciting contemporary approach to the conceptualization and study of cellular mechanisms for behavior. Here at Rockefeller, Carl Pfaffmann and Neal Miller have been leaders in every sense of the word. Not only did they provide me with opportunities to grow to scientific maturity; they also set an example of clear thinking about mechanisms for mammalian behavior patterns. I wrote this book to show how the systematic use of increasingly detailed electrophysiological, neuroanatomical, and neuroendocrine tech niques can explain the mechanism for a mammalian behavioral response. The behavior in question happens to be sensitive to steroid hormones and plays a central role in reproduction.

Book Synopsis Chinese Healing Exercises by : Livia Kohn
Download or read book Chinese Healing Exercises written by Livia Kohn and published by University of Hawaii Press. This book was released on 2008-09-30 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Daoyin, the traditional Chinese practice of guiding the qi and stretching the body is the forerunner of Qigong, the modern form of exercise that has swept through China and is making increasing inroads in the West. Like other Asian body practices, Daoyin focuses on the body as the main vehicle of attainment; sees health and spiritual transformation as one continuum leading to perfection or self-realization; and works intensely and consciously with the breath and with the conscious guiding of internal energies. This book explores the different forms of Daoyin in historical sequence, beginning with the early medical manuscripts of the Han dynasty, then moving into its religious adaptation in Highest Clarity Daoism. After examining the medieval Daoyin Scripture and ways of integrating the practice into Tang Daoist immortality, the work outlines late imperial forms and describes the transformation of the practice in the modern world. Presenting a rich crop of specific exercises together with historical context and comparative insights, Chinese Healing Exercises is valuable for both specialists and general readers. It provides historical depth and opens concrete details of an important but as yet little-known health practice.
Download or read book Gua sha written by Arya Nielsen and published by Elsevier Health Sciences. This book was released on 2014-09-05 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Sometimes called coining, spooning or scraping, Gua sha is defined as instrument-assisted unidirectional press-stroking of a lubricated area of the body surface that intentionally creates 'transitory therapeutic petechiae' representing extravasation of blood in the subcutis.' Gua sha has been used for centuries in Asia, in Asian immigrant communities and by acupuncturists and practitioners of traditional East Asian medicine worldwide. With the expansion of traditional East Asian medicine, Gua sha has been used over broad geographic areas and by millions of people. It is valuable in the treatment of pain and for functional problems with impaired movement, the prevention and treatment of acute infectious illness, upper respiratory and digestive problems, and many acute or chronic disorders. Research has demonstrated Gua sha radically increases surface microperfusion that stimulates immune and anti-inflammatory responses that persist for days after treatment. The second edition expands on the history of Gua sha and similar techniques used in early Western Medicine, detailing traditional theory, purpose and application and illuminated by science that focuses its relevance to modern clinical practice as well as scholarly inquiry. This book brings the technique alive for practitioners, with clear discussion of how to do it – including correct technique, appropriate application, individualization of treatment – and when to use it, with over 50 case examples, and superb color photographs and line drawings that demonstrate the technique. NEW TO THIS EDITION • New chapter on immediate and significant Tongue changes as a direct result of Gua sha • Research and biomechanisms • Literature review from Chinese language as well as English language medical journal database • New case studies • Over 30 color photographs New chapter on immediate and significant Tongue changes as a direct result of Gua sha Research and biomechanisms Literature review from Chinese language as well as English language medical journal database New case studies Fully updated and revised throughout Over 30 colour photographs
