Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Queensland Past and Present: An Epitome of Its Resources and Development The want of a Year Book emanating from official sources for some time past been making itself felt both from abroad and within the colony. It has been found that the voluminous information published in the Statistical Register, valuable as it undoubtedly is, fails to satisfy the growing need, and the necessity for the issue of particulars in an epitomised form has become apparent. Under instructions from the Honourable the Home Secretary, an endeavour has been made to prepare a handbook that it is hoped will serve to illustrate in a concise manner the varied resources of the colony. Consequent on the pressure of the routine duties of the office, this work has been compiled mainly in private hours, and it therefore cannot but be feared that it leaves much to be desired, both with regard to information and arrangement, and possibly - notwithstanding that the greatest care has been exercised - in some instances as to accuracy - faults common to initial works of this description, but which admit of correction in subsequent issues. Our aim is to provide readers with the highest quality reproductions of fiction and non-fiction literature that has stood the test of time. The many thousands of books in our collection have been sourced from libraries and private collections around the world. The titles that Trieste Publishing has chosen to be part of the collection have been scanned to simulate the original. Our readers see the books the same way that their first readers did decades or a hundred or more years ago. It is highly unlikely that this would occur with one of our books. Our extensive quality control ensures that the readers of Trieste Publishing's books will be delighted with their purchase. Our staff has thoroughly reviewed every page of all the books in the collection, repairing, or if necessary, rejecting titles that are not of the highest quality. This process ensures that the reader of one of Trieste Publishing's titles receives a volume that faithfully reproduces the original, and to the maximum degree possible, gives them the experience of owning the original work.We pride ourselves on not only creating a pathway to an extensive reservoir of books of the finest quality, but also providing value to every one of our readers. Generally, Trieste books are purchased singly - on demand, however they may also be purchased in bulk. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fundraiser for our wildlife, from land, sea and sky. Proceeds go to the Australian Marine Conservation Society and Australian Wildlife Conservancy. A response to the devastating 2019-20 bushfires, Animals Make Us Human both celebrates Australia's unique wildlife and highlights its vulnerability. Through words and images, writers, photographers and researchers reflect on their connection with animals and nature. They share moments of wonder and revelation from encounters in the natural world- seeing a wild platypus at play, an echidna dawdling across a bush track, or the inexplicable leap of a thresher shark; watching bats take flight at dusk, or birds making a home in the backyard; or following possums, gliders and owls into the dark. Hopeful, uplifting and deeply moving, this collection is also an urgent call to action, a powerful reminder that we only have one world in which to coexist and thrive with our fellow creatures. By highlighting the beauty and fragility of our unique fauna, Australia's favourite writers, renowned researchers and acclaimed photographers encourage readers to consider it in a new light. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Aldine History of Queensland, Vol. 1 No country in the world has been more extensively written about than Australia, and yet it is a difficult matter to find upon our bookshelves any work that will give the inquirer of this or other lands an adequate idea of the history, resources, enterprises, and development of the country partly because most that has been published is now out of print, and partly for the reason that writers have confined themselves to only one phase of colonial life.
