Download or read book Evaluation of the Second Language Learning (French) Programs in the Schools of the Ottawa and Carleton Boards of Education, Volume II. Tracing the K-74 Cohort written by Frances Morrison and published by Ontario Ministry of Education. This book was released on 1986 with total page 37 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Part of the Eleventh Annual Report to the Ontario Ministry of Education, this report describes the grade and program location of students who entered kindergarten in Ottawa and Carleton, Ontario in 1974, known as the K-74 cohort. The first section of the report deals with the K-74 cohort; later sections deal with students who joined either early or late immersion at the expected level of the K-74 cohort. Some of the factors examined by the study are the following: (1) patterns of transfer into and out of the immersion programs and proportions reaching the expected grade level at various points; (2) comparisons of grade level of students who had left the early immersion program with students from the K-74 cohort in the English-language program; and (3) analysis of the progress of three late-immersion groups who had entered a high school with a program emphasizing French instruction. The report contains a number of diagrams that illustrate the varied pathways of several groups of students, and tables and graphs that present the longitudinal data on students in various programs for each year from 1974-1983. This book was released on 2004-06-15 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An effective state is essential to achieving socio-economic and sustainable development. With the advent of globalization, there are growing pressures on governments and organizations around the world to be more responsive to the demands of internal and external stakeholders for good governance, accountability and transparency, greater development effectiveness, and delivery of tangible results. Governments, parliaments, citizens, the private sector, NGOs, civil society, international organizations and donors are among the stakeholders interested in better performance. As demands for greater accountability and real results have increased, there is an attendant need for enhanced results-based monitoring and evaluation of policies, programs, and projects. This Handbook provides a comprehensive ten-step model that will help guide development practitioners through the process of designing and building a results-based monitoring and evaluation system. These steps begin with a OC Readiness AssessmentOCO and take the practitioner through the design, management, and importantly, the sustainability of such systems. The Handbook describes each step in detail, the tasks needed to complete each one, and the tools available to help along the way."

Book Synopsis Sociology of Education in Canada, by : Karen Robson
Download or read book Sociology of Education in Canada, written by Karen Robson and published by Pearson Education Canada. This book was released on 2012-10-03 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sociology of Education in Canada utilizes a contemporary theoretical focus to analyze how education in Canada is affected by pre-existing and persistent inequalities among members of society. It presents the historical and cultural factors that have shaped our current education system, examines the larger social trends that have contributed to present problems, discusses the various interest groups involved, and analyzes the larger social discourses that influence any discussion of these issues. To achieve this, Karen Robson uses many current, topical, and relatable issues in Canadian education to ensure that readers fully comprehend the information being presented and leave with an appreciation of how the sociology of education is inextricably linked to issues of stratification.
