Book excerpt: Afin de suivre la croissance du volume de données échangées, les opérateurs de télécommunications déploient aujourd’hui des systèmes de transmission optiques fonctionnant à 100Gbit/s par canal. Pour y parvenir, des techniques innovantes ont dû être développées avec en premier plan la détection cohérente et de nouveaux formats de modulation. Par ailleurs, la ligne de transmission elle même évolue: on considère de plus en plus de ne compenser la dispersion chromatique qu'aux extrémité de la ligne, le système alors opère dans le régime dit "fortement dispersif". Dans ces conditions il devient nécessaire de revoir l'étude des effets non-linéaires. Pour cela, nous commençons par montrer qu'il faut utiliser des séquences test de plusieurs milliers des bits de bits pour estimer le taux d'erreur de systèmes fortement dispersifs. Ensuite nous développons une approche perturbative du premier ordre de l équation non linéaire de Schrödinger pour un champ vectoriel, ce qui permet d'étudier les formats multipléxés en polarisation. Puis, nous montrons que, pour les systèmes fortement dispersifs, l'impact des effets non-linéaires est semblable à du bruit additif gaussien. Nous utilisons cette propriété pour revoir la notion de seuil non-linéaire c'est à dire du réglage de puissance constituant le meilleur compromis entre l'impact du bruit et celui des effets non linéaires. Enfin nous établissons des règles simples décrivant l'évolution de la performance en fonction de paramètres tels que le nombre de tronçons, la puissance optique ou la dispersion accumulés. Nous bâtissons également un modèle pour prédire les performances du système quelque soit la stratégie de gestion de la dispersion.
