Book excerpt: L'étude porte sur l'analyse hydrodynamique du comportement d'un jet vertical ascendant immergé dans un lit fluidisé et la compréhension des mécanismes d'intéractions qui s'opèrent entre le jet et le lit environnant. Pour ce faire, nous nous attachons à mesurer les vitesses locales, permettant ainsi d'établir la cartographie détaillée du champ de vitesse de gaz dans le jet, et les pressions statiques au sein du jet et dans le lit. Nous faisons varier un grand nombre de paramètres de fonctionnement (vitesse d'aération supérieure au minimum de fluidisation, vitesse initiale du jet, hauteur du lit et taille des particules) afin de mieux cerner l'importance de ces derniers sur l'hydrodynamique du jet en milieu fluidisé. L'approche théorique destinée à appuyer l'interprétation des résultats expérimentaux nous a suggéré des formes de loi de variation axiale dans le jet, dans la zone des profits semblables, et qui ont été validées. Une première loi de variation de la vitesse axiale traduisant la similitude des profils de vitesse dans le jet qui est indépendante des paramètres de l'étude, et une deuxième loi de similitude pour les variations de la demi-largeur du jet. La combinaison de ces deux lois a conduit aux lois de variation axiale du débit et du flux de quantité de mouvement du jet. Ces derniers (débits et flux de quantité de mouvement) nous ont permis d'identifier les zones d'échanges de gaz entre le jet et le lit, de déterminer l'intensité de ces échanges et d'indiquer le mécanisme d'extinction d'un jet dans un lit fluidisé.

Book excerpt: Ce travail de recherche porte, d'une part, sur l'étude de l'effet d'échelle sur le comportement hydrodynamique d'un lit fluidisé circulant. D'autre part, il met en évidence les modifications de la structure de l'écoulement lors de l'injection d'air secondaire dans la colonne, puis lors de l'utilisation d'un mélange de deux populations de particules de natures différentes. Le lit fluidise circulant est un pilote a l'échelle industrielle, constitué d'une colonne de section rectangulaire d'un mètre carré (0,8 * 1,2 metre) et de 9 mètres de hauteur. Cette installation met en suspension du sable de diamètre harmonique moyen 260 micromètres et de masse volumique 2620 kilogrammes par mètre cube grâce a une injection d'air. Malgré la taille industrielle de cette installation, les mesures des profils longitudinaux de pression ont permis d'identifier et de caractériser différents régimes d'écoulement, similaires à ceux observés dans une installation de laboratoire. Trois régimes d'écoulement avaient nettement été mis en évidence dans cette colonne de plus petite taille: le régime des profils semblables, le régime de transition i et le régime dense. La forme rectangulaire de la colonne du pilote industriel permet de découvrir un appendice du régime de transition i: le régime de transition ii. L'étude de la structure transversale de l'écoulement par les flux massiques locaux montre, localement, l'existence des mêmes régimes d'écoulement. Ce comportement hydrodynamique affecte, en même temps, la zone d'accélération et la zone d'écoulement établi. L'injection d'air secondaire ne modifie la structure axiale de l'écoulement qu'en dessous du port d'injection d'air secondaire. Au-dessus, la zone d'écoulement établi est localement perturbée: la forme des profils de flux locaux est modifiée. Le comportement hydrodynamique d'un mélange de deux populations de particules est constitué d'une succession de régimes d'écoulement analogues à ceux mis en évidence par chacune des populations de solides prise séparément. Ce résultat est analogue a celui obtenu sur l'installation de laboratoire.
