Durante un periodo di malattia, riprese la sua idea di scrivere un Moriae Encomium o Elogio della Follia (latino: Stultitiæ Laus; greco: Morias Enkomion - Μωρίας Εγκώμιον, olandese: Lof der Zotheid). Lo scritto fu pubblicato a Parigi nel 1511, ebbe una seconda edizione aumentata nel 1514, e nel 1515 apparve a Basilea, per l'editore Froben, la versione definitiva con un commento dell'umanista olandese Gerard Listrius, scritto in parte dallo stesso Erasmo. Il lavoro fu redatto, compilato e completato originariamente nel giro di una settimana mentre soggiornava con Tommaso Moro nella residenza di quest'ultimo a Bucklersbury. This volume offers for the first time the edition of a seventeenth-century manuscript discovered at Ets Haim/Livraria Montezinos (Amsterdam) by its editors. They demonstrate that it is not only the first known early modern Spanish translation of Erasmus’s chef-d’œuvre, but a copy of a much earlier version, composed in mid-sixteenth century. This scholarly edition has been arranged for an easy textual collation with the canonical edition (ASD IV: 3) and translation (CWE 27) of Erasmus’s Praise of Folly and includes an extensive apparatus of footnotes devoted both to this version and to Erasmus’s Moriae Encomium itself.

Weaving a rich fabric of local and international social movements and media practices, politicized hacking, and independent cultural production, it takes as its entry point a multiyear ethnography of Telestreet, a network of pirate television channels in Italy that combined emerging technologies with the medium of television to challenge the media monopoly of tycoon-turned-prime minister Silvio Berlusconi. Street televisions in Italy represented a unique experiment in combining old and new media to forge grassroots alliances, fight social isolation, and build more resilient communities.
