Book excerpt: Early Biblical scripture shares the life of the prophet Elijah and chronicles his ministry work. Later in the New Testament, we see John the Baptist being imparted with the spirit of Elijah before he is born. Elijah Power looks at the ministry walks of Elijah and John then, the spiritual deposit, and the power that can be activated into today's church. Themes of uncompromising truth, healing of the soul, and preparing the way for the One who will do greater works emerge as readers explore exactly what "it" is that John received. Elijah Power is a dialogue between Reverend Steve Gaskins and his readers. Gaskins uses relatable examples to align the works of Elijah and John the Baptist with contemporary Christian living. He shares candid anecdotes from nearly thirty years of ministry in assisting readers with activating the power of Elijah's spirit in their own walk. Elijah Power is an in-depth look at a rich ministry legacy and ways for a similar foundation to be laid in present time.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strongholds can't be broken without the boldness to confront them. After reading this book, you will have the courage to walk in the same anointing as the prophet Elijah to boldly declare the power of the Lord and break off the strongholds holding our world captive to the darkness. As it was in the days of Elijah, a great number of God's people today dwell in a nation that is on a path of progressive moral decline. America has the most liberal abortion standard in the world. Christians are hooked on pornography. The homosexual agenda is finding acceptance even in the church. Divorce is on the rise in the church. Human trafficking is manifesting as the ugly side of globalization. Those who were once considered great leaders are now preaching a doctrine of inclusion, with Christian who leaders or that are afraid to say on national television that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. With the turn of a new decade plagued with violence, sickness, disease, and economic instability, the people cry out for the prophets to speak. And God is raising up a prophetic people who will help prepare the way for His purposes in our generation. A new company of Elijah prophets--holy, bold, and uncompromising--are being equipped to restore the spiritual destiny of the church in our generation. In this book, Michelle McClain-Walters challenges readers to awaken to the call God is stirring in the earth and stand up as modern-day Elijahs who will partner with the Holy Spirit to change the culture by turning hearts back to God. Readers will be encouraged to: Identify the call of God on their lives in this hour and ask, "Am I an Elijah?" Learn what it takes to walk in the spirit and power of Elijah and where they may be in their own journey Understand the different roles miracles play during times of revival, reformation, and restoration Learn to pray prayers that move heaven and shake earth, as well as how to persist in prayer This book will empower readers to discover their prophetic destiny in this hour and position themselves to receive a double portion of the spirit and power of Elijah.

Both the content and the style are stimulus to prayerful reflection and a help to meditation. Von Speyr focuses on the importance of understanding Elijah as a prototype of Christ and a key to the New Testament message. Some of the chapters included here are "The Drought is Announced", "Elijah and Ahab", "The Sacrifice of Mt. Carmel", "The Encounter With God", "The Call of Elisha", "Ahaziah and Elijah", and "Elijah is Caught Up to Heaven".

Why, then, did His appearance create a division among both the leadership and the people of Israel? How does the Old Testament story of Elijah and the prophecy of his return relate to this division? Author Joshua Caleb delivers a challenging and multidimensional account of the relationship between the returning prophet Elijah, John the Baptist, and Jesus, and the true theological reason the advent of the Christ divided into a First and Second Coming. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For Carmelites, Elijah is considered their legendary founder and patron. This study explores Elijah in Scripture, legend, and Carmelite documents. Members of the three monotheistic faiths have always told stories of what the prophet Elijah has done and is still expected to do in sacred history. He is perhaps most appreciated by members of the Carmelite Order, known for its contemplative and pastoral orientation. Elijah is considered their legendary founder and traditional patron. Carmelites rank him as one of their greatest spiritual models. Their coat of arms displays his flaming sword, Mount Carmel, and Elijah's proclamation, "With zeal I have been zealous for the Lord God of Hosts." This book inquires into this deep appreciation. It examines the linkage between the Order and the prophet over time. More Information Beginning with the oldest knowledge we have about Elijah, coming from Scripture, Elijah Prophet of Carmel briefly sketches his role in the three faiths of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It then turns to what the distant, but influential, Christian antecedents of the Carmelite Order, the desert hermits and the early Fathers, wrote about the zealous man of God. As the Carmelite Order was founded, achieved its corporate identity, and changed over time, so did its views of its legendary model. Interaction between storytelling about Elijah and Carmelites' understanding of themselves continues even to the present. As thoughts from the past about the prophet continue to influence them, both Teresian Carmelites and Carmelites of the Ancient Observance of our times are developing a brand-new tradition of him, the tradition of Elijah's double charism.
