Book Synopsis Low-Dimensional Electronic Properties of Molybdenum Bronzes and Oxides by : C. Schlenker
Download or read book Low-Dimensional Electronic Properties of Molybdenum Bronzes and Oxides written by C. Schlenker and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 461 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The history of low dimensional conductors goes back to the prediction, more than forty years ago, by Peierls, of the instability of a one dimensional metallic chain, leading to what is known now as the charge density wave state. At the same time, Frohlich suggested that an "ideal" conductivity could be associated to the sliding of this charge density wave. Since then, several classes of compounds, including layered transition metal dichalcogenides, quasi one-dimensional organic conduc tors and transition metal tri- and tretrachalcogenides have been extensively studied. The molybdenum bronzes or oxides have been discovered or rediscovered as low dimensional conductors in this last decade. A considerable amount of work has now been performed on this subject and it was time to collect some review papers in a single book. Although this book is focused on the molybdenum bronzes and oxides, it has a far more general interest in the field of low dimensional conductors, since several of the molybdenum compounds provide, from our point of view, model systems. This is the case for the quasi one-dimensional blue bronze, especially due to the availability of good quality large single crystals. This book is intended for scientists belonging to the fields of solid state physics and chemistry as well as materials science. It should especially be useful to many graduate students involved in low dimensional oxides. It has been written by recognized specialists of low dimensional systems.

Book Synopsis Superionic Conductors by : F. A. Karamov
Download or read book Superionic Conductors written by F. A. Karamov and published by Cambridge Int Science Publishing. This book was released on 2008 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The monograph is concerned with the results of examination of the properties of superionic conductors and their heterostructures with different electrode materials. Special attention is given to the problems of changes in the characteristics of impedance in a wide frequency range. The author presents theoretical and experimental data on the properties of ionic, ionic-electronic conductors, reversible and polarised interfaces. The directions and specific examples of practical application of superionic conductors and heterostructures based on them are also discussed.

Download or read book International Symposium On Solid Ionic and Ionic-Electronic Conductors written by R. D. Armstrong and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solid Ionic and Ionic-Electronic Conductors presents a selection of papers gathered from the International Conference on Solid Ionic and Ionic-Electronic Conductors, held in Rome in September 1976. The collection emphasizes studies on lithium ion conductors and solid electrolytes. The conference covers a broad range of topics on solid ionic and ionic-electronic conductors. A considerable amount of papers are written on Li-ion conductors, where topics on conductivity data for several lithium ion conductors; new Li-ion conductors with several different structure types; and the crystal structure of a group of ternary copper compounds of the composition CuTeX are presented. Papers dealing with investigations and applications of solid electrolytes are also substantial and cover topics on iodine diffusion and gettering in solid electrolyte batteries; the application of solid electrolytes to the thermodynamic study of some alkaline earths silicates; and properties and applications of sulfate-based solid electrolytes. Electronics engineers, physicists, researchers, materials engineers, and businessmen in the electronics industry will find the contents of the book insightful.

Book Synopsis Ferroelectrics Literature Index by : T. F. Connolly
Download or read book Ferroelectrics Literature Index written by T. F. Connolly and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 713 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research on ferroelectricity and ferroelectric materials started in 1920 with the discovery by Valasek that the variation of spontaneous polarization in Rochelle salt with sign and magnitude of an applied electric field traced a complete and reproducible hysteresis loop. Activity in the field was sporadic until 1935, when Busch and co-workers announced the observation of similar behavior in potassium dihydrogen phosphate and related compounds. Progress thereafter continued at a modest level with the undertaking of some theoretical as well as further experimental studies. In 1944, von Hippel and co-workers discovered ferroelectricity in barium titanate. The technological importance of ceramic barium titanate and other perovskites led to an upsurge of interest, with many new ferroelectrics being identified in the following decade. By 1967, about 2000 papers on various aspects of ferroelectricity had been published. The bulk of this widely dispersed literature was concerned with the experimental measurement of dielectric, crystallographic, thermal, electromechanical, elastic, optical, and magnetic properties. A critical and excellently organized cpmpilation based on these data appeared in 1969 with the publica tion of Landolt-Bornstein, Volume 111/3. This superb tabulation gave instant access to the results in the literature on nearly 450 pure substances and solid solutions of ferroelectric and antiferroelectric materials. Continuing interest in ferroelectrics, spurred by the growing importance of electrooptic crystals, resulted in the publication of almost as many additional papers by the end of 1969 as had been surveyed in Landolt-Bornstein.

Download or read book Electrochemistry written by G. J. Hills and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 1972 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued.
