Book Synopsis Modelling of Convective Heat and Mass Transfer in Rotating Flows by : Igor V. Shevchuk

This book was released on 2015-07-24 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents results of the analytical and numerical modeling of convective heat and mass transfer in different rotating flows caused by (i) system rotation, (ii) swirl flows due to swirl generators, and (iii) surface curvature in turns and bends. Volume forces (i.e. centrifugal and Coriolis forces), which influence the flow pattern, emerge in all of these rotating flows. The main part of this work deals with rotating flows caused by system rotation, which includes several rotating-disk configurations and straight pipes rotating about a parallel axis. Swirl flows are studied in some of the configurations mentioned above. Curvilinear flows are investigated in different geometries of two-pass ribbed and smooth channels with 180° bends. The author demonstrates that the complex phenomena of fluid flow and convective heat transfer in rotating flows can be successfully simulated using not only the universal CFD methodology, but in certain cases by means of the integral methods, self-similar and analytical solutions. The book will be a valuable read for research experts and practitioners in the field of heat and mass transfer.

Book Synopsis The Effect of Body Forces on the Motion and Heat Transfer of Confined Fluids by : Simon Ostrach
Download or read book The Effect of Body Forces on the Motion and Heat Transfer of Confined Fluids written by Simon Ostrach and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Various modes of flow have been delineated and the nature and extent of these under different conditions have been described. Emphasis has been on confined natural convection configurations. Although specific problems have been treated both experimentally and theoretically, the methods are not now available to predict general flow pattern for a given configuration. This is due to the inherent bidirectional coupling between the boundary layers and the core which is a basic feature of all confined flow problems. Other activity has centered on some new aspects of natural convection with imposed heat flows in more than one direction simultaneously and on the interaction of thermal and hydrodynamic instabilities. Book Synopsis Study of Heat Transfer in a Dead-end Channel Under Free Convection Conditions by : A. G. ROMANOV
Download or read book Study of Heat Transfer in a Dead-end Channel Under Free Convection Conditions written by A. G. ROMANOV and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results of theoretical and experimental research on the effect of flow and heat exchange in a dead-end channel, whih is present in the field of activity of centrifugal forces, are given. Theoretical equations were obtained by 2 methods: (1) on the basis of analysis of the system of differential equations which describes the effect of heat transfer by the method of the theory of similitude and dimension; and (2) on the basis of solution of the integral equations of a boundary layer. A test check-up was made on 2 stationary and 1 rotating model. Equations for heat transfer between the wall and the fluid in a dead-end channel during luminous and turbulent kinds of fluid flow, were recommended as a result of the test. (Author).
