Book Synopsis Educational Media and Technology Yearbook by : Michael Orey
Download or read book Educational Media and Technology Yearbook written by Michael Orey and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-05-28 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Educational Media and Technology Yearbook has become a standard reference in many libraries and professional collections. Examined in relation to its comp- ion volumes of the past, it provides a valuable historical record of current ideas and developments in the ?eld. Part I, “Trends and Issues,” presents an array of chapters that develop some of the current themes listed above, in addition to others. Part II, “Library and Information Science,” concentrates upon chapters of special relevance to K-12 education, library science education, school learning resources, and various types of library and media centers—school, public, and academic among others. In Part III, “Leadership Pro?les,” authors provide biographical sketches of the careers of instructional technology leaders. Part IV, “Organizations and Associations in North America,” and Part V, “Graduate Programs in North America,” are, resp- tively, directories of instructional technology-related organizations and institutions of higher learning offering degrees in related ?elds. Finally, Part VI, the “Medi- raphy,” presents an annotated listing of selected current publications related to the ?eld. For a number of years we have worked together as editors and the sixth with Dr. Michael Orey as the senior editor. Last year as the senior editor, Orey decided to try and come up with a list of the top programs rather than just the list of all the programs. This has proven to be problematic. First of all, bias exists when we are rating a ?eld in which our program is within those to be rated.

AECT has a rich history, evolving from the National Education Association’s (NEA) Department of Visual Instruction (DVI) and later the Department of Audio-Visual Instruction (DAVI). Over its 100 years, AECT and its members have had a substantial impact on the evolution of American educational technology and learning, including in the areas of audiovisual instruction, instructional design, and online learning. AECT at 100: A Legacy of Leadership brings together writers and experts in the organization to explore various periods of history within the field and how AECT and its membership stood as a leader within the field. Topics such as visual instruction, the audiovisual movement, leadership development, programmed instruction, diversity leadership, AECT and educational technology topics, journals, ethics, and social justice are explored. Additionally, a number of leaders are explored from the early days of AECT such as James Finn, F. Dean McClusky, Edgar Dale, and Elizabeth Golterman all the way to recent leaders such as Rob Branch.

Download or read book Educational Media and Technology Yearbook written by Robert Maribe Branch and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-11-06 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is Volume 42 of the Educational Media and Technology Yearbook. For the past 40 years, our Yearbook has contributed to the field of Educational Technology in presenting contemporary topics, ideas, and developments regarding diverse technology tools for educational purposes. Our Yearbook has inspired researchers, practitioners, and teachers to consider how to develop technological designs and develop curricula and instruction integrating technology to enhance student learning, teach diverse populations across levels with effective technology integration, and apply technology in interactive ways to motivate students to engage in course content. In addition, Volume 42 features the Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) research and educational use cases, organized and coordinated by Vivienne and David. This section provides evidence that the affordances of AR, VR, and mixed reality, defined as an immersive multi-platform experience reality (XR), have begun to make indelible changes in teaching and learning in the United States. XR’s recent developments stimulated the editors to propose a special edition to mark the interoperability of immersive technology to push the boundaries of human curiosity, creativity, and problem solving. After years of incremental development, XR has reached a critical level of investment, infrastructure, and emerging production. The chapters included in this section illustrate how XR can push user inquiry, engagement, learning, and interactivity to new levels within physical and digital contexts.
Book Synopsis Instructional Design: International Perspectives II by : Sanne Dijkstra
Download or read book Instructional Design: International Perspectives II written by Sanne Dijkstra and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-12-16 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Instructional design theory and practice has evolved over the past 30 years from an initial narrow focus on programmed instruction to a multidimensional field of study integrating psychology, technology, evaluation, measurement, and management. The growth of instructional design (ID) has occurred because of direct needs, problems, and goals from society. Its application in planning instruction first developed in the United States with the Department of Defense during World War II with the purpose of meeting immediate concerns for effective training of larger numbers of military personnel. From the beginning, ID has rapidly expanded into applications in industrial and executive training, vocational training, classroom learning, and professional education. Although ID has its roots in the U.S., applications and theoretical growth is an international activity. However, literature at the international level is still limited to either individual author contributions or collections primarily represented by single countries. As a result, there is no standard reference source that contains the rich variety of theories and applications to form the international foundation for the field. The goal of this two-volume set is to establish international foundations for ID theory, research, and practice within the framework of the two following objectives: * to identify and define the theoretical, research, and model foundations for ID, and * to bridge the gap between ID foundations and application. Volume I includes chapters on philosophical and theoretical issues on learning theory and ID models. Volume II provides an overview of the state of the art of solving ID problems. The contributors offer contrasting points of view which provide a rare opportunity to see the diversity and complexity in the field. The editorial committee has selected a wide range of internationally known authors to make presentations in the topic areas of the field.
