Book Synopsis Solar Energy Technology Handbook by : E. W. Dickinson
Download or read book Solar Energy Technology Handbook written by E. W. Dickinson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-05-04 with total page 771 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The handbook, for convenient use, is divided into eight main units: (1) The Solar Resource; (2) Solar Thermal Collectors; (3) Photovoltaics; (4) Bioconversion; (5) Wind Energy; (6) Solar Energy Storage Systems; (7) Applications of Solar Energy; (8) Non-technical Issues. In addition there are three Appendixes containing unit-conversion tables and useful solar data. It became obvious early in this project that if proper coverage were to be given each of these areas it would be necessary to divide the handbook into two volumes. The first six units constitute Part A, Engineering Fundamentals and the last two units constitute Part B, Applications, Systems Design, and Economics. These volumes have been prepared primarily as reference books, but it is felt that many of the sections will prove useful for practicing engineers, scientists and students.
Book Synopsis The Highway Engineer's Guide to Alternative Energy Sources and Applications by : Marian F. Eilers
Download or read book The Highway Engineer's Guide to Alternative Energy Sources and Applications written by Marian F. Eilers and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A highway engineer considering an alternative energy source for an upcoming project probably does not have a background in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning or electrical engineering, but with overall responsibility for the project needs to determine quickly whether or not an alternative energy source is cost-effective. If it is cost-effective, he would then need to know the design process and terminology to supervise the designer's work. The guide meets these needs, and in addition, offers a selected bibliography of published informaiton, a listing of persons with experience in this area, and a selection of actual case studies of highway agencies that have used alternative energy sources successfully.

Book Synopsis An Economic Model for Passive Solar Designs in Commercial Environments by : Jeanne W. Powell
Download or read book An Economic Model for Passive Solar Designs in Commercial Environments written by Jeanne W. Powell and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report presents an economic model for evaluating passive solar designs in commercial environments. It discusses the literature on this topic and draws upon this literature to develop a general methodological framework. The model incorporates a life-cycle costing approach that focuses on the costs of purchase, installation, maintenance, repairs, replacement, and energy. It includes a detailed analysis of tax laws affecting the use of solar energy in commercial buildings. Possible methods of treating difficult-to-measure benefits and costs, such as effects of the passive solar design on resale value of the building and on lighting costs, rental income from the building, and the use of commercial space, are presented. The model is illustrated in two case examples of prototypical solar designs for low-rise commercial buildings in an urban setting.
Book Synopsis Solar Energy Conversion by : A. E. Dixon
Download or read book Solar Energy Conversion written by A. E. Dixon and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-03 with total page 1325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solar Energy Conversion: An Introductory Course is a collection of papers that deals with the technical, mechanical, and operation concerns in converting solar energy. The title first details solar radiation, and then proceeds to discussing solar collectors. Next, the selection covers selective surfaces and the thermal regulation of buildings. The text also talks about planning of solar architectures. The next part tackles topics about the direct conversion of solar energy. Part VII discusses the control and measurement of collected solar energy, while Part VIII covers bioconversion and biomass. The book will be of great use to engineering and science students.
