He was jujlly renowned for great piety, and purity of manners, during the whole course of his life. He was fellow of Chris s College in Cambridge during the civil wars, and after the restoration: and his works continued in such high reputation, long after his decease, that certain gentUmen of great piety and liberality generously contributed to have a collettion of his Theological and "Philosophical works translated into Engjifh, and printed in fiuo vohlmes in folio, in the reign of Queen Anne; and were thought to have by this means done great service to religion. Book Synopsis The Dialogue of St. Catherine of Siena by : St. Catherine of Siena
Download or read book The Dialogue of St. Catherine of Siena written by St. Catherine of Siena and published by TAN Books. This book was released on 1991-09 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: St. Catherine of Siena's Dialogue describes the entire spiritual life through a series of conversations between God and the soul, represented by Catherine herself. Readers of The Dialogue of Saint Catherine of Siena, will find her revelations from God as informative - and formative - as those who recognized her sanctity during her life. The universally applicable yet intimately personal messages she received from God are as much for us as they were for Catherine. We can read God's communications to his beloved daughter with detached awe or we can receive His messages to us through her writings. Do you long for certainty that Divine Providence exists in the midst of our chaotic world? Does your prayer seem too dry, or too routine? Have you sought guidance for the challenges of your life from unhelpful people or things? Or has pride kept you from humble obedience to the Church? If so, The Dialogue will provide consolation, encouragement, and hope.

Book Synopsis The End of the Timeless God by : R. T. Mullins
Download or read book The End of the Timeless God written by R. T. Mullins and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2016-01-07 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The claim that God is timeless has been the majority view throughout church history. However, it is not obvious that divine timelessness is compatible with fundamental Christian doctrines such as creation and incarnation. Theologians have long been aware of the conflict between divine timelessness and Christian doctrine, and various solutions to these conflicts have been developed. In contemporary thought, it is widely agreed that new theories on the nature of time can further help solve these conflicts. Do these solutions actually solve the conflict? Can the Christian God be timeless? The End of the Timeless God sets forth a thorough investigation into the Christian understanding of God and the God-world relationship. It argues that the Christian God cannot be timeless.

Book excerpt: Reader, you may wonder: Is this a science fiction story with human clones? Or is this a spiritual novel related to God? It is both. Two ETs come to Earth, for a vacation. They analyze and they worry about what is happening on our planet. They don't understand why the elite control the lives of people. They don't comprehend why ordinary Humans so feebly react to that. But the beginning of the 21st century was a time of Great Awakening. The pivotal moment was the subtle split of Earth's magnetic field. It allowed the creation of two densities, two worlds. Follow the thrilling events that lead to that moment. Read the story of people who softly act and change their worldview. Read about Humans as spiritual beings in a material world. Those two ETs teach them to have a dialogue with the Divine Self Within. They help Humans to be aware, like themselves, of being clones of God. Then they can be empowered and change the world for good. With those two ETs and enlightened Humans, embark on this odyssey!

Book Synopsis Henry More (1614–1687) Tercentenary Studies by : S. Hutton
Download or read book Henry More (1614–1687) Tercentenary Studies written by S. Hutton and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of all the Cambridge Platonists, Henry More has attracted the most scholar ly interest in recent years, as the nature and significance of his contribution to the history of thought has come to be better understood. This revival of interest is in marked contrast to the neglect of More's writings lamented even by his first biographer, Richard Ward, a regret echoed two centuries after his 1 death. Since then such attention as there has been to More has not always served him well. He has been dismissed as credulous on account of his belief in witchcraft while his reputation as the most mystical of the Cambridge 2 school has undermined his reputation as a philosopher. Much of the interest in More in the present century has tended to focus on one particular aspect of his writing. There has been considerable interest in his poems. And he has come to the attention of philosophers thanks to his having corresponded with Descartes. Latterly, however, interest in More has been rekindled by renewed interest in the intellectual history of the seventeenth century and Renaissance. And More has been studied in the context of seventeenth-cen tury science and the wider context of seventeenth-century philosophy. Since More is a figure who belongs to the Renaissance tradition of unified sapientia he is not easily compartmentalised in the categories of modern disciplines. Inevitably discussion of anyone aspect of his thought involves other aspects.
