Wenn Schuldlosigkeit zum obersten Kriterium ärztlichen Handelns würde, stünde nicht der anvertraute Mensch [...] im Mittelpunkt aller Erwägungen, sondern das 'Ich des Artzes'." Die These wurde von dem evangelischen Theologen Hans Grewel aufgestellt. Er deutet damit an, welche Konsequenzen erfolgen können, wenn die Ärzte in ihren medizinischen Handlungen verantwortungslos und schuldfrei wären. Wenn die Ärzte demzufolge von jeglicher Schuld und Verantwortung befreit wären, würde ihr eigenes Wohlbefinden im Zentrum ihres Handelns stehen und nicht das, der zu behandelnden Patienten. Sie könnten die Behandlungen ihrer Patienten nach ihrem eigenen Anliegen richten, was bedeuten würde, dass sie sich solche Behandlungsmöglichkeiten aussuchen könnten, die für sie selbst zeit- und kraftsparender, auch wenn sie nicht förderlich für die Genesung ihrer Patienten wären. Aus Grewels Zitat folgend entstehen die Fragen, welche (in-)signifikante Rolle Schuld und Verantwortung in der modernen Medizin tatsächlich spielen oder spielen müssten und welche Bedeutung die Ethik hat, vor allem beim Töten und Sterben lassen von Patienten und beim Tun und Unterlassen bei Behandlungen. Um die Fragen prägnant beantworten zu können, werden die genannten Aspekte anhand eines Fallbeispiels aus der Medizin bearbeitet. A GUIDED HISTORICAL TOUR As Scott LaBarge points out, Plato’s dialogues can be viewed as an extended treatment of the concept of moral expertise, so it is fitting to begin the volume with an examination of “Socrates and Moral Expertise”. Given Socrates’ protestations (the Oracle at Delphi notwithstanding) that he knows nothing, LaBarge observes that it would be interesting to determine both what a Socratic theory of moral expertise might be and whether Socrates qualified as such an expert. Plato’s model of moral expertise is what LaBarge calls “demonstrable expertise”, which is concerned mainly with the ability to attain a goal and to explain how one did it. The problem with this account is that when one tries to solve the various problems in the model – for example, allowing that moral expertise is not an all-or-nothing skill – then one is immediately faced with the “credentials problem”. This study addresses that aura of virtuous sovereignty and Taizong's construction of a reputation for moral rulership through his own literary writings--with particular attention to his poetry. The author highlights the relationship between historiography and the literary and rhetorical strategies of sovereignty, contending that, for Taizong, and for the concept of sovereignty in general, politics is inextricable from cultural production. The work focuses on Taizong's literary writings that speak directly to the relationship between cultural form and sovereign power, as well as on the question of how the Tang negotiated dynastic identity through literary stylistics. The author maintains that Taizong's writings may have been self-serving at times, representing strategic attempts to control his self-image in the eyes of his court and empire, but that they also become the ideal image to which his self was normatively bound.
