Ein wichtiger Ansatz in diesem Szenario ist dabei die mediale Beeinflussung durch soziale Plattformen, wie Instagram. Diese wissenschaftliche Arbeit versucht konkret folgende Forschungsfrage zu beantworten: Wie beeinflusst lnstagram die schönheitsidealistische Meinungsbildung junger Heranwachsender? Ziel ist es, den Prozess der Meinungsbildung, sowie den Einfluss durch lnstagram auf diese zu untersuchen. Dabei beschränkt sich die Arbeit auf das weibliche Schönheitsideal. Zu Beginn widmet sich diese Arbeit der Darstellung der theoretischen Grundlagen und Definitionen wesentlicher, zum Verständnis der nachfolgenden Diskussion notwendiger Fachbegriffe. lm Anschluss steht Prozess der Meinungsbildung im Fokus. Als Grundlage dienen dabei verschiedene psychologische Konzepte. Anschließend wird herausgearbeitet, welchen Einfluss die lnstagramnutzung auf Jugendliche hat. Darauf aufbauend wird der Einsatz und die Wirksamkeit von Schutzmechanismen diskutiert. Ein Fazit und einen kurzen Ausblick auf den weiteren Verlauf der schönheitsidealistischen Meinungsbildung beschließen die Arbeit. lm Folgenden werden nun die theoretischen Grundlagen dargestellt, die zum Verständnis der nachfolgenden Beantwortung der Forschungsfrage notwendig sind. Für junge Heranwachsende ist die Nutzung sozialer Medien alltäglich. Laut der Jim-Studie von 2018, gaben 67% der Befragten im Alter von 12 bis 19 Jahren an die Social Media Plattform lnstagram mehrmals pro Woche bis täglich zu nutzen. Als großer Lebensaspekt Jugendlicher weist die Plattform eine weitreichende Beeinflussung der Meinungsbildung auf. Durch vermeintlich perfekt präsentierte Körperideale, regt der Konsum Jugendliche an, ihren Körper, sowie ihr Körperselbstbild kritisch zu reflektieren. Die Grenze zwischen Realität und lllusion ist hierbei kaum noch vorhanden.
