Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Clean air, land, and oceans are critical for human health and nutrition and underpin much of the world's economy. Yet they suffer from degradation, poor management, and overuse due to government subsidies. 'Detox Development: Repurposing Environmentally Harmful Subsidies' examines the impact of subsidies on these foundational natural assets. Explicit and implicit subsidies--estimated to exceed US$7 trillion per year--not only promote inefficiencies but also cause much environmental harm. Poor air quality is responsible for approximately 1 in 5 deaths globally. And as the new analyses in this report show, a significant number of these deaths can be attributed to fossil fuel subsidies. Agriculture is the largest user of land worldwide, feeding the world and employing 1 billion people, including 78 percent of the world's poor. But it is subsidized in ways that promote inefficiency, inequity, and unsustainability. Subsidies are shown to drive the deterioration of water quality and increase water scarcity by incentivizing overextraction. In addition, they are responsible for 14 percent of annual deforestation, incentivizing the production of crops that are cultivated near forests. These subsidies are also implicated in the spread of zoonotic and vector-borne diseases, especially malaria. Finally, oceans support the world's fisheries and supply about 3 billion people with almost 20 percent of their protein intake from animals. Yet they are in a collective state of crisis, with more than 34 percent of fisheries overfished, exacerbated by open-access regimes and capacity-increasing subsidies. Although the literature on subsidies is large, this report fills significant knowledge gaps using new data and methods. In doing so, it enhances understanding of the scale and impact of subsidies and offers solutions to reform or repurpose them in efficient and equitable ways. The aim is to enhance understanding of the magnitude, consequences, and drivers of policy successes and failures in order to render reforms more achievable.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Medical Breakthrough of Chelation Therapy: A treatment that uses medicine to remove toxic metals from the body so they don't make you sick. Chelation has long been approved by the FDA to rid the body of lead by using a synthetic amino acid (ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid), which binds to toxic metals and minerals in the bloodstream, allowing a patient to excrete them. When metals like lead, mercury, iron, and arsenic build up in your body, they can be toxic. Alternative medical practitioners have used chelation for nearly 60 years, especially to treat heavy metal contamination that causes or contributes to heart disease. Chelation rids the body of deposits that can lead to atherosclerosis, which causes coronary arteries to narrow, leading to heart attacks. Patients have also found relief through chelation for improving the symptoms of autism. One of the most promising areas of research is in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Because the buildup of metals like copper, iron, and zinc are thought to play a role in Alzheimer's disease, Chelation Therapy might have a place in treating it. Full of hope-inspiring case histories, expert findings and where to find treatment, The Chelation Revolution: Breakthrough Detox Therapy shows how Chelation Therapy can alleviate suffering in numerous medical conditions and lead to a healthier, happier, and longer life. Includes a Foreword by Tammy Born Huizenga, D.O., owner of the internationally recognized Born Clinic in Grand Rapids, MI, an internationally respected organization in preventive medicine with a speciality in Chelation Therapy.

Book excerpt: 'A must-read to anyone interested in the digital world.' - Valérie Schafer, Center for Contemporary and Digital History, University of Luxembourg A concise history of the digital revolution and the lore, rhetoric, and debates that surround it. The Digital Revolution aims to tell a story, one of the most powerful ideologies of recent decades: that digitalization constitutes a revolution, a break with the past, a radical change for the human beings who are living through it. The book aims to investigate the origins of this idea, how it evolved, which other past revolutions consciously or unconsciously inspired it, which great stories it has conveyed over time, which of its key elements have changed and which ones have persisted and have been repeated in different historical periods. All these discussions, large or small, have settled and condensed into a series of media, advertising, corporate, political, and technical sources. Readers will be introduced to new, previously unpublished historical sources. The main aim of the book is to deconstruct what looks like a “natural” and incontestable idea and to help rethink digital societies today.

Book excerpt: The essential guide for organizations to understand how toxic cultures form, identify the warning signs, and take effective action to address and prevent them. In recent years, the media has been rife with stories of toxic workplaces - from reports into public institutions such as the police and healthcare trusts, to allegations from former employees at the likes of Twitter and the Ellen DeGeneres Show. It can present itself in many forms: harassment, discrimination, lack of boundaries, a culture of fear and lack of support for employees. But toxic workplaces can also lead to missed targets, poor strategic decisions, and a loss of trust from the public and shareholders; in short, they are bad for business, leaders and anyone working in them. In this book, workplace culture expert Colin D. Ellis lays out a series of simple but effective methods for leaders looking to understand how toxic cultures form, illustrated through a global range of case studies (including CBI, the London Fire Brigade, Uber, SpaceX, Sony Music, and Amnesty International). He walks readers through practical actions that they can take to create the cultural conditions for success - a work environment of belonging, inclusivity, flexibility and value creation. Designed to be universally applicable, and tackling a diverse range of topics - from employee connection, to establishing and integrating positive values - Detox Your Culture is essential reading for any leader or manager looking to ensure that their organization's reputation and results are never compromised by culture.

Glass reveals the interconnectedness of what we consume, both mentally and nutritionally, emphasizing that cleansing of the body alone will offer only a temporary solution if we do not also apply the same cleansing principles to our thoughts and actions. He provides delicious plant-based smoothie and meal recipes, step-by-step instructions to resolve blockages and stagnation in the physical or emotional body, including tips on liver health and healthy elimination, guidance on how to cleanse the proliferation of toxic thought patterns in the mind, as well as outlining a supportive Karma/Forgiveness cleanse ritual to detoxify the spirit. He explains how the soul is encased in five coverings, known as Koshas, and details how to harmonize all five Koshas through a plant-based diet, exercise, yoga, breathing techniques, and meditation/introspective practices. Citing wisdom from teachers he has revered over the years and sages past and present, as well as teachings from the Vedas and other ancient texts, Glass reinforces that how we eat, think, and live directly impacts our health in body, mind, spirit, and our relationships. He also shows how the principles of the Total Life Cleanse inherently support the environment. By empowering you with a new way of thinking, seeing, and being, the Total Life Cleanse program allows you not only to heal yourself by changing your life patterns but also to heal others, as we foster a deeper connection to the life that surrounds us and ultimately the universe.

Book excerpt: It's Time for a Revolution takes an in-depth look at modern-day thinking and worldly teaching that is keeping the general population sick, oppressed, and without hope. The pressure and constant buzz of mainstream media has led to the rejection of most things Godly or biblical. Never has the path to truth been so twisted and camouflaged. This book will address common areas of deception that have led to the dysfunction and disease we see in the world today. Biblical principles that will be addressed: why God/Heaven is such a mystery, how to find radical freedom from plaguing mental and emotional issues, and discovering the truth about diet, money and physical healing. Through twenty years of research and client interactions, Dr. Jessica Rothmeyer has discovered the keys to healing and freedom, and it all begins by having a Kingdom mind-set. Taking biblical truths from God's Word and teaching them to her clients, helped to rewire their minds and hearts to align with God's; which led to incredible and miraculous healings. It is through writing this book that these revelations would spread to the masses, bringing supernatural freedom to people across the world, those who are living in fear, confusion, and poor health due to embracing the false teachings and empty promises made by academics, politicians, health care providers, and science. Let us return to having a Godly thought-life. Choosing to love others as Jesus loves us. And to be ever-vigilant to the leadership of the Holy Spirit, as the new mind-set, will change people's lives like never before. The human race has been duped and suffering for long enough! It's time for a revolution.

Book excerpt: "Breathwork is like 20 years of therapy in one day without saying a word" Breathwork is the new yoga; it's meditation for people who don't like to meditate, the overthinkers and impatient ones who don't want to wait for results. There is a breathwork revolution on the rise, and everything you need to know about breathwork is in this book! The World Health Organization states that anxiety and depression are the top disabilities worldwide. In fact, our current era is called The Age of Anxiety. More people are depressed now than in the Great Depression. This book not only shows you how to beat S.A.D. (Stress, Anxiety, Depression), but how to thrive using a tool you've been equipped with since birth, the breath! No food, medication, or exercise acts as quickly as the breath. The results of breathwork are almost immediate and undeniable from just one session. Breathwork induces a flow-state which enhances clarity and creativity by linking the unconscious and conscious parts of the mind. The answers we all seek become more easily accessible to us. Our bodies are living libraries that keep score; they record everything that happens to us throughout our lifetime. When these issues go unresolved, they cause pain and wreak havoc. "The issues are in the tissues." Breathwork clears these stagnant and heavy energies from the body which can drastically improve our health and manifesting power. This is the basis of the Breathwork Detox: you must first "let go" before you can "let in." This is where many sabotage their manifesting abilities, because they're not willing to let go of the things in the past that are holding them back from what they currently want. This may be the only reason the law of attraction hasn't worked for you. You must first clear the runway before you can take off or land. Breathwork is the reboot you've been waiting for. "Sometimes the weight we need to lose isn't on our bodies." Studies show we are using less and less of our lung capacity over time. The more stressful the world becomes, the less we breathe. We're not just suffering from physical suffocation but also spiritual suicide. Many people are stuck in the rat race, not living their true life's purpose. Now, more than ever, people need a tool to cope with stress and anxiety so they can thrive in a time when other people need them the most. Some doors only open from the inside. Breathwork Detox is the key to accessing that door and tapping into the powers you know are there. You just don't know what they are or how to use them. The author shares his journey of how he had a mysterious illness and was tired of paying the medical industry to keep him sick. Instead, Kurtis wanted to HEAL. Breathwork Detox not only changed his life when nothing else would, but it saved his life, and now he wants to share it with the world. Order now to experience the healing power of Breathwork Detox!

Book excerpt: “Next-level revelatory." —Sarah Knight, New York Times bestselling author of The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck “Excellent...Rina really knows her shit...I'm so thankful for this book.” —Jameela Jamil, actress and host of I Weigh Journalist Rina Raphael looks at the explosion of the wellness industry: how it stems from legitimate complaints, how seductive marketing targets hopeful consumers–and why women are opening up their wallets like never before. Wellness promises women the one thing they desperately desire: control. Women are pursuing their health like never before. Whether it’s juicing, biohacking, clutching crystals, or sipping collagen, today there is something for everyone, as the wellness industry has grown from modest roots into a $4.4 trillion entity and a full-blown movement promising health and vitality in the most fashionable package. But why suddenly are we all feeling so unwell? The truth is that deep within the underbelly of self-care—hidden beneath layers of clever marketing—wellness beckons with a far stronger, more seductive message than health alone. It promises women the one thing they desperately desire: control. Vividly told and deeply reported, The Gospel of Wellness reveals how this obsession is a direct result of women feeling dismissed, mistreated, and overburdened. Women are told they can manage the chaos ruling their life by following a laid-out plan: eat right, exercise, meditate, then buy or do all this stuff. And while wellness may have sprung from good intentions, we are now relentlessly flooded with exploitative offerings, questionable ideas, and a mounting pressure to stay devoted to the divine doctrine of wellness. What happens when the cure becomes as bad as the disease? With a critical eye, humor, and empathy, wellness industry journalist Rina Raphael examines how women have been led down a kale-covered path promising nothing short of salvation. She knows: Raphael was once a disciple herself—trying everything from “clean eating” to electric shock workouts—until her own awakening to the troubling consequences. Balancing the good with the bad, The Gospel of Wellness is a clear-eyed exploration of what wellness can actually offer us, knocking down the false idols and commandments that have taken hold and ultimately showing how we might shape a better future for the movement—and for our well-being.

Book excerpt: Every person on our home planet is affected by a worldwide deluge of man-made chemicals and pollutants - most of which have never been tested for safety. Our chemical emissions are six times larger than our total greenhouse gas emissions. They are in our food, our water, the air we breathe, our homes and workplaces, the things we use each day. This universal poisoning affects our minds, our bodies, our genes, our grandkids, and all life on Earth. Julian Cribb describes the full scale of the chemical catastrophe we have unleashed. He proposes a new Human Right - not to be poisoned. He maps an empowering and hopeful way forward: to rid our planet of these toxins and return Earth to the clean, healthy condition which our forebears enjoyed, and our grandchildren should too.
