Book Synopsis High-Gain Observers in Nonlinear Feedback Control by : Hassan H. Khalil
Download or read book High-Gain Observers in Nonlinear Feedback Control written by Hassan H. Khalil and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2017-06-23 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For over a quarter of a century, high-gain observers have been used extensively in the design of output feedback control of nonlinear systems. This book presents a clear, unified treatment of the theory of high-gain observers and their use in feedback control. Also provided is a discussion of the separation principle for nonlinear systems; this differs from other separation results in the literature in that recovery of stability as well as performance of state feedback controllers is given. The author provides a detailed discussion of applications of high-gain observers to adaptive control and regulation problems and recent results on the extended high-gain observers. In addition, the author addresses two challenges that face the implementation of high-gain observers: high dimension and measurement noise. Low-power observers are presented for high-dimensional systems. The effect of measurement noise is characterized and techniques to reduce that effect are presented. The book ends with discussion of digital implementation of the observers. Readers will find comprehensive coverage of the main results on high-gain observers; rigorous, self-contained proofs of all results; and numerous examples that illustrate and provide motivation for the results. The book is intended for engineers and applied mathematicians who design or research feedback control systems.
Book Synopsis Nonlinear Control Systems by : Alberto Isidori
Download or read book Nonlinear Control Systems written by Alberto Isidori and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to present a self-contained description of the fundamentals of the theory of nonlinear control systems, with special emphasis on the differential geometric approach. The book is intended as a graduate text as well as a reference to scientists and engineers involved in the analysis and design of feedback systems. The first version of this book was written in 1983, while I was teaching at the Department of Systems Science and Mathematics at Washington University in St. Louis. This new edition integrates my subsequent teaching experience gained at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 1987, at the Carl Cranz Gesellschaft in Oberpfaffenhofen in 1987, at the University of California in Berkeley in 1988. In addition to a major rearrangement of the last two Chapters of the first version, this new edition incorporates two additional Chapters at a more elementary level and an exposition of some relevant research findings which have occurred since 1985. In the past few years differential geometry has proved to be an effective means of analysis and design of nonlinear control systems as it was in the past for the Laplace transform, complex variable theory and linear algebra in relation to linear systems. Synthesis problems of longstanding interest like disturbance decoupling, noninteracting control, output regulation, and the shaping of the input-output response, can be dealt with relative ease, on the basis of mathematical concepts that can be easily acquired by a control scientist.

Book Synopsis Advances in PID Control by : Valery D. Yurkevich
Download or read book Advances in PID Control written by Valery D. Yurkevich and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2011-09-06 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the foundation and up to the current state-of-the-art in control engineering, the problems of PID control steadily attract great attention of numerous researchers and remain inexhaustible source of new ideas for process of control system design and industrial applications. PID control effectiveness is usually caused by the nature of dynamical processes, conditioned that the majority of the industrial dynamical processes are well described by simple dynamic model of the first or second order. The efficacy of PID controllers vastly falls in case of complicated dynamics, nonlinearities, and varying parameters of the plant. This gives a pulse to further researches in the field of PID control. Consequently, the problems of advanced PID control system design methodologies, rules of adaptive PID control, self-tuning procedures, and particularly robustness and transient performance for nonlinear systems, still remain as the areas of the lively interests for many scientists and researchers at the present time. The recent research results presented in this book provide new ideas for improved performance of PID control applications.

Book Synopsis Linear Feedback Controls by : Mark A. Haidekker
Download or read book Linear Feedback Controls written by Mark A. Haidekker and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2020-05-26 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Control systems are one of the most important engineering fields, and recent advances in microelectonics and microelectromechanical systems have made feedback controls ubiquitous - a simple cell phone, for example, can have dozens of feedback control systems. Recent research focuses on advanced controls, such as nonlinear systems, adaptive controls, or controls based on computer learning and artificial intelligence. Conversely, classical (linear) control theory is well established; yet, it provides the crucial foundation not only for advanced control topics, but also for the many everyday control systems ranging from cell phone backlight control to self-balancing hoverboard scooters. Linear Feedback Controls provides a comprehensive, yet compact introduction to classical control theory. The present Second Edition has been expanded to include important topics, such as state-space models and control robustness. Moreover, aspects of the practical realization have been significantly expanded with complete design examples and with typical building blocks for control systems. The book is ideal for upper level students in electrical and mechanical engineering, for whom a course in Feedback Controls is usually required. Moreover, students in bioengineering, chemical engineering, and agricultural and environmental engineering can benefit from the introductory character and the practical examples, and the book provides an introduction or helpful refresher for graduate students and professionals. Focuses on the essentials of control fundamentals, system analysis, mathematical description and modeling, and control design to guide the reader Illustrates how control theory is linked to design of control systems and their performance by introducing theoretical elements as tools in a designer's toolbox Guides the reader through the different analysis and design tools with strands of examples that weave throughout the book Highlights both the design process and typical applications by presenting detailed practical examples and their realization and performance, complete with circuit diagrams and measured performance data

Book Synopsis Constructive Nonlinear Control by : R. Sepulchre
Download or read book Constructive Nonlinear Control written by R. Sepulchre and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Constructive Nonlinear Control presents a broad repertoire of constructive nonlinear designs not available in other works by widening the class of systems and design tools. Several streams of nonlinear control theory are merged and directed towards a constructive solution of the feedback stabilization problem. Analysis, geometric and asymptotic concepts are assembled as design tools for a wide variety of nonlinear phenomena and structures. Geometry serves as a guide for the construction of design procedures whilst analysis provides the robustness which geometry lacks. New recursive designs remove earlier restrictions on feedback passivation. Recursive Lyapunov designs for feedback, feedforward and interlaced structures result in feedback systems with optimality properties and stability margins. The design-oriented approach will make this work a valuable tool for all those who have an interest in control theory.
