Book Synopsis Einleitung in die Ethik by : Edmund Husserl
Download or read book Einleitung in die Ethik written by Edmund Husserl and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-08-16 with total page 562 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Johannes Schlaf and German Naturalist Drama by : Raleigh Whitinger
Download or read book Johannes Schlaf and German Naturalist Drama written by Raleigh Whitinger and published by Camden House. This book was released on 1997 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First book in English devoted to Johannes Schlaf, the 19th-century German playwright, bringing fresh insights to the whole movement of German naturalist drama. This is the first book in English on the German playwright Johannes Schlaf (1862-1941), whose involvement in 'consistent realism' and modern theatre in the 1890s provides an insight into the origins and development of German naturalist drama. Schlaf's main contributions to this movement were with Die Familie Selicke (1890), on which he collaborated with Arno Holz, and Meister Oelze (1892), works which show his innovative talents. The author considers these works in the context of the experimental prose sketches which Schlaf worked on with Holz after 1888, and of the realist and naturalist dramas of Hebbel, Ibsen, Hauptmann, and Sudermann; he brings out their growing concern with trapped women and victimised children, as well as their critical focus on the problems of traditional poetry.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The historical avant-gardes defined themselves largely in terms of their relationship to various versions of realism. At first glance modernism primarily seems to take a counter-position against realism, yet a closer investigation reveals that these relations are more complex. This book is dedicated to the links between realism, modernism and the avant-garde in their international context from the late 19th century up to the present day.

Book Synopsis Willensstruktur und Handlungsorganisation in Kants Theorie der praktischen Freiheit by : Sasa Josifovic
Download or read book Willensstruktur und Handlungsorganisation in Kants Theorie der praktischen Freiheit written by Sasa Josifovic and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2014-04-24 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kant’s theory of practical freedom represents a masterpiece of the philosophical inquiry into self-constitution, self-government, and volitional self-determination. It includes a sophisticated theory of action intrinsically determined by a specific concept of control over the processes that determine the contents of volition as well as those which facilitate the realization of ends. The most distinctive feature of this theory of action consists of the specific function of autonomously generated principles which, according to Kant, facilitate control over the process of volitional self-determination and thus constitute agency. Willensstruktur und Handlungsorganisation in Kants Theorie der praktischen Freiheit provides a detailed reconstruction of Kant’s theory of practical freedom and action as rationally guided volitional self-determination in his first and second "Critique".

Download or read book The Twentieth Century 1890-1945 written by Raymond Furness and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-01-31 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1978, this study presents a detailed analysis of the major literary movements in Austria and Germany from the end of the nineteenth century to the collapse of the Third Reich. It examines the plethora of literary genres which marked the transition from the nineteenth to the twentieth century: the short-lived Naturalist movement rapidly giving way to various forms of symbolism and neo-romanticism. The situation in Vienna is studied in detail; the concept of modernism vis-à-vis expressionism with special regard to Rilke and Kafka. The literature of the Weimar period is also analysed, with emphasis on the symphonic novels of the time and the anti-illusionist devices of Brecht. It also draws a comparison between the literary situation in Nazi Germany and the literature of exile, and the positions of Thomas and Heinrich Mann, Brecht and Gottfried Benn are examined.
