Es ist elementar, dass jedes Kind und vor allem jedes Pflegekind eine liebevolle Bindung zu einer vertrauensvollen Person entwickeln kann. Die Arbeit setzt sich das Ziel, die Einflussfaktoren auf die Bindungsentwicklung von Pflegekindern anhand der Ergebnisse verschiedener Studien herauszuarbeiten. Hierzu ergeben sich sowohl wichtige Faktoren auf Seiten des Pflegekindes als auch der Pflegeeltern. Nach Erläuterung der Problemstellung sowie Aufbau und Zielsetzung der Arbeit, werden in Kapitel 2 die Gründe für eine Fremdunterbringung der Kinder und Jugendlichen außerhalb der Herkunftsfamilie erläutert. Dabei werden die verschiedenen Formen von Handlungen beschrieben, die zu einer Kindeswohlgefährdung führen können. Hierzu werden im Einzelnen die Vernachlässigung durch die Bezugsperson, die körperliche und psychische Misshandlung sowie der sexuelle Missbrauch genauer dargestellt. Kapitel 3 beschäftigt sich mit dem Thema Bindung von Pflegekindern. Zunächst wird das Konzept Bindung genauer erläutert sowie die von Ainsworth und Kollegen beschriebenen Bindungsmuster. Diese lassen sich in sichere, unsicher-ambivalente, unsicher-vermeidende und desorganisierte Bindung differenzieren. Im Anschluss werden der Bindungsaufbau bei Pflegekindern und die verschiedenen Einflussfaktoren auf die Bindungsentwicklung von Pflegekindern auf Seiten des Pflegekindes sowie auf Seiten der Pflegeeltern erläutert. Die Analyse der Einflussfaktoren soll zur Beantwortung der Fragestellung beitragen. Anschließend wird in Kapitel 4 auf die Rolle und Funktion des Amtsvormundes bei Pflegekindern eingegangen, bevor abschließend ein Fazit gegeben wird.

Nach der Bindungstheorie von John Bowlby, auf der die aktuelle Bindungsforschung aufbaut, ist ein Neugeborenes bereits genetisch vorprogrammiert im ersten Lebensjahr eine Bindung an wenige Personen zu entwickeln, die ihn schützen und versorgen. Fehlt eine solche Bezugsperson oder wird die Bindung zu ihr abgerissen, so hat das negative Auswirkungen auf die gesamte Entwicklung. Das Zustandekommen einer Pflegeeltern-Pflegekind-Konstellation ist meist nicht das glückliche Ende einer langen Suche, sondern der Anfang einer oft sehr schwierigen und komplizierten Beziehungsarbeit. Gerade wenn das Pflegeverhältnis auf Dauer angelegt ist, ist der Aufbau einer sicheren Bindung des Pflegekindes an die neuen Eltern das ideale Ziel. Doch was können Pflegeeltern praktisch dazu beitragen, damit diese Bindung entsteht, gerade dann, wenn das Kind bereits vorbelastet ist durch Missbrauchs- und Vernachlässigungserfahrungen oder häufige Bindungsabbrüche?
