Download or read book Arctic and Subarctic Atmospheres, 0 to 90 Km written by Allen E. Cole and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sets of mean monthly reference atmospheres that describe seasonal changes in the vertical distributions of temperature, density, and pressure at altitudes up to 90 km are presented for latitudes 60 deg N and 75 deg N. Also provided are specialized atmospheric models that reflect longitudinal differences in the vertical structure of temperature and density at these latitudes. Estimates of the seasonal, day-to-day, diurnal, and spatial variations are given with special emphasis placed on density. (Author).

This book was released on 1965 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook is a comprehensive collection of data, formulas, definitions, and theories concerning the natural environment. It was written by scientists of the Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories (AFCRL) which, in 1976, became the Air Force Geophysics Laboratory (AFGL). It was designed to serve a broad spectrum of users: the planner, designer, developer, and operator of aerospace systems; the scientist who will find the tables and figures a convenient reference in his own field; the specialist who needs environmental data in another discipline; and science minded people who seek a summary of space-age environmental research. Revisions of individual chapters and sections of this handbook will be published as additional environmental research efforts pay off in new knowledge.
Book Synopsis Wind Distributions and Interlevel Correlations, Surface to 60 Km by : Arthur J. Kantor
Download or read book Wind Distributions and Interlevel Correlations, Surface to 60 Km written by Arthur J. Kantor and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information is provided in this report on the interlevel correlations of the east/west and north/south wind components for altitudes between the surface and 60 km, with special emphasis on levels between 25 km and 60 km. Mean monthly wind speeds and day-to-day variations due to synoptic changes in weather patterns are included. Estimates are also given of the probability of extreme wind speeds at specific locations and altitudes up to 60 km. A statistical technique that can be used to obtain estimates of the integrated effect of wind on the trajectories and impact points of reentry vehicles is presented, and an example of its application is given. These effects due to the winds must be considered, along with the density effects, in the design and operation of guidance systems for reentry vehicles and for targeting ballistic missiles.
