Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended to be a children's book on the 12 Days of Christmas with Spanish included. The author based this poem on the "Twelve Day's till Christmas," which is located in The Christmas Almanack by Gerald and Patricia Del Re. When the author decided to write this poem, he wanted to incorporate his own twist using the Spanish numbers and Spanish words to help children be introduced to bilingual languages of both English and Spanish. This is a cute book for Christmas with a Spanish twist with the Spanish language for the "Decimosegundo Dias De Navidad." This Christmas poem was much fun to write. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I enjoy it.

This book was released on 2015-12-02 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from the Preface: "With the best intention of justifying Messrs. Pitman's confidence in entrusting me with the compilation of a Spanish Grammar to form part of the series of "Commercial Grammars," I set to work to produce a book which, while avoiding pedantry and the agglomeration of superfluous and intricate rules which puzzle the student, should equally avoid falling into the extreme of coarseness which debases the subject under study, or the scrappiness resulting in gaps that perplex and discourage him. I have tried to be brief and clear in the rules given."

Book Synopsis Teaching, Learning and Scaffolding in CLIL Science Classrooms by : Yuen Yi Lo
Download or read book Teaching, Learning and Scaffolding in CLIL Science Classrooms written by Yuen Yi Lo and published by John Benjamins Publishing Company. This book was released on 2021-05-15 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited volume presents a collection of empirical studies examining the teaching and learning processes in science classrooms in Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) contexts. It is a timely contribution to the rapidly growing body of CLIL research in response to scholars’ consistent calls for more classroom-based research on the issues in integration of content and language teaching in lessons. With the dual goal of content and language learning, students in CLIL programmes are also facing double challenges – mastery of abstract, cognitively demanding content knowledge and unfamiliar academic language. Focusing on the notion of “scaffolding”, this edited volume demonstrates how science teachers can provide appropriate and timely scaffolding for their students to overcome the challenges in CLIL science classrooms. With studies from different educational settings (Hong Kong, Mainland China, Singapore and Australia) and epistemological paradigms, and adopting a variety of research designs, this volume will provide key insights into CLIL pedagogy and teacher education. Originally published as special issue of Journal of Immersion and Content-Based Language Education 7:2 (2019).
Book Synopsis Pragmatics in Translation by : Daria Dayter
Download or read book Pragmatics in Translation written by Daria Dayter and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2023-03-31 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Element addresses translation issues within an interpersonal pragmatics frame. The aims of this Element are twofold: first, we survey the current state of the field of pragmatics in translation; second, we present the current and methodologically innovative avenues of research in the field. We focus on three pragmatics issues – relational work, participation structure, and mediality – that we foreground as promising loci of research on translational data. By reviewing the trajectory of pragmatics research on translation/interpreting over time, and then outlining our understanding of the Pragmatics in Translation as a field, we arrive at a set of potential research questions which represent desiderata for future research. These questions identify the paths that can be productively explored through synergies of the linguistic pragmatics framework and translation data. In two case study chapters, we offer two example studies addressing some of the questions we identified as suggestions for future research. This title is also available as Open Access on Cambridge Core.
