Brehm, 2004:39 Medienpädagogik und Medienpraxis für soziale Berufe). Viel-fach wird deshalb der Ausdruck "Multi-Media-Generation" verwendet. Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich vor allen Dingen mit dem audiovisuellen Medium "Fernsehen", denn der TV-Konsum nimmt bei vielen Kindern und Jugendlichen nach wie vor einen großen Raum ein. Welche Folgen hat der Fernseh-Konsum und wie wirkt er sich auf den Körper, den Geist und die Seele der Jugendlichen aus? Welche Wirkungen ergeben sich für das Sozialverhalten? Unter¬suchungsergebnisse zu diesen Fragen sollen hier zusammengetragen werden, um eine fun¬dierte Urteilsbildung zu ermöglichen. Im ersten Kapitel werden die Rechtsgrundlagen und das Fernsehangebot in der Bun-desrepublik Deutschland vorgestellt. Zahlen zur Nutzung des Fernsehens durch Jugendliche runden das Kapitel ab. Kapitel zwei widmet sich den Ergebnissen der Medienforschung. Dabei wird zuerst eine Un-tersuchung über Muster des Mediengebrauchs von Jugendlichen im sozialen Kontext vorge-stellt, in der unter anderem verschiedene Familientypen analysiert werden. Am Ende dieses Kapitels werden die Auswirkungen bildungs- und schichtspezifische Unterschiede beschrieben. Im letzten Teil der Arbeit erfolgt- auf dieser Grundlage- eine Bewertung des TV-Konsums aus pädagogischer Sicht. Dazu werden Chancen und Gefahren gegenübergestellt.

Im Gegensatz zu anderen Medien besitzt das Fernsehen laut Kunkel eine Ganzheitlichkeit, die es mit keinem anderen Massenmedium teilt. Bei der Rezeption werden gleichzeitig zwei Sinne angesprochen, nämlich sowohl das Gehör als auch das Sehen. Dieses doppelte Wahrnehmen könnte die Ursache dafür zu sein, dass die im Fernsehen gezeigten Inhalte außerordentlich intensiv wahrgenommen werden und aufmerksamkeitsstark sind. Da das Fernsehen, im Gegensatz zu Büchern, den Zuschauer zudem unmittelbar am gezeigten Geschehen teilnehmen lässt, ohne zuvor eine schwierige Kodierungsbarriere überwinden zu müssen, warf und wirft das Medium bis heute besonders viele Fragen und Vermutungen auf. Dementsprechend groß und vielseitig ist die Zahl der Untersuchungen zu den Auswirkungen des Fernsehkonsums. Gerade bei Kindern und Jugendlichen könnten sich mögliche Fernseheffekte nachhaltig auswirken: Weil sich Einflüsse auf ein Menschenleben über fast dessen gesamte Dauer auswirken, haben jegliche formende Erfahrungen umso größere Auswirkungen, je früher sie im Leben eines Menschen erfolgen . Viele Effekte, wie z.B. eine aggressionssteigernde Wirkung von gewalthaltigen Fernsehinhalten auf den Rezipienten, sind inzwischen durch Studien belegt worden. Aber auch die Erzielung positiver Lerneffekte durch Bildungsprogramme und die Steigerung prosozialer Handlungsweisen gelten als gesichert. Obwohl Auswirkungen in verschiedenen Bereichen nachgewiesen werden konnten, sind die Ergebnisse oftmals heterogen und es bleibt schwierig, die Effekte zu verallgemeinern, Problemgruppen zu identifizieren und eindeutige Maßnahmen abzuleiten: Dass die Frage nach den Auswirkungen des Fernsehkonsums bei Kindern nach wie vor offen scheint, liegt jedoch weniger an der Unzulänglichkeit der bisherigen Forschungsbemühungen, sondern vielmehr an der Komplexität des Nutzungs- und Rezeptionsverhaltens und den relevanten Randbedingungen . Anliegen dieser Arbeit ist es daher einerseits, eine Einsicht in die verschiedenen Themenbereiche und Forschungsbefunde zu geben. So stand ich vor der schwierigen Aufgabe, mich zu entscheiden, welche Themen mir wichtig sind und welche eher nicht. Mit der Zeit und nach einigen Stunden lesen, kristallisierte sich heraus, dass ich gar nicht die Medien im Einzelnen, sondern vielmehr ihre Wirkung im Ganzen aufzeigen möchte. Natürlich darf die Unterschiedlichkeit der Medien nicht vergessen werden und ich werde auch auf einige eingehen, die mir mit am geläufigsten erscheinen, aber der Grund des Konsums, Art, Dauer und die Auswirkung der Medien auf Jugendliche schienen mir ungleich spannender. Deshalb geht es in dieser Arbeit mehr um das „Warum“ und die eventuellen Folgen, welche die Benutzung von Medien auf Jugendliche haben. In die Betrachtung mit einbezogen habe ich Fernsehen/ Video, Videospiele und das Kino. Computer, Handy, etc. habe ich bewusst nicht berücksichtigt, da ich denke, allein diese Medien erfordern sehr gründliche Nachforschung und sind in ihrer Art von Fernsehen etc. zu unterscheiden. Nach einiger Lektüre stellt sich heraus, dass das Werk von Heinz Moser „Einführung in die Medienpädagogik - Aufwachsen im Medienzeitalter“ so umfassend war, dass es andere von mir gelesene Bücher voll ersetzte. Ich halte es für ein Buch, dass eine gute Einführung in das Thema gewährleistet. Deshalb habe ich seine Ausführungen an vielen Stellen berücksichtigt.

Noch vor ca. 20 Jahren gab es in Deutschland zwei bis drei Fernsehprogramme und die Auswahl war somit rar. Im Jahre 1970 betrug der Fernsehkonsum noch weniger als 2 Stunden am Tag, wobei dieser in den letzten Jahrzehnten rasant auf teilweise über 3 Stunden täglich mit einer hiesigen Auswahl an Sendern angestiegen ist. Heute besitzen zudem 98% der Deutschen mindestens einen Fernseher, im Jahr 2000 hatten sogar fast die Hälfte aller Haushalte zwei oder mehr Fernsehgeräte (vgl. Spitzer 2008, S. 1). Die Kernfrage der vorliegenden Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit den Auswirkungen des Fernsehens auf das Individuum, vor allem aber auf Kinder und Jugendliche. Es wird auch die Frage aufgeworfen, ob das Fernsehen Bildung vermitteln kann, oder welche Risiken unmittelbar mit diesem Bildschirmmedium verknüpft sind. Es wurden nicht nur Zusammenhänge zwischen verschiedenen „Zivilisationskrankheiten“ wie Fettleibigkeit, Herzinfarkt, Diabetes, Schlaganfall sowie weiteren Störungen und dem Fernsehkonsum gefunden. Es ist erschreckend feststellen zu müssen, wenn schon Kinder an Diabetes Typ II, auch „Alterszucker“ genannt, erkranken (vgl. Spitzer 2008, S. 40f). Es konnten auch Unterschiede beim Bildungsniveau festgestellt werden. Dazu jedoch später mehr. Eltern denken oft, sie würden ihren Kindern etwas Gutes tun, wenn sie diese vor den Fernseher setzen. Es kommen schließlich auch Sendungen, extra für Kinder, die „Wissen“ vermitteln. So liegt es aber im Auge des Betrachters, ob man die „Entstehung“ von Kaugummi als „echtes“ Wissen oder gar Bildung ansieht (Bsp. Löwenzahn, ZDF). Diese oben genannten Fragen sollen im weiteren Verlauf dieser Arbeit beantwortet werden. Ich werden zunächst auf den Bildungsbegriff eingehen, um eventuelle Kritik am Fernsehen begründen oder besser darstellen zu können. Es werden einige Studien zum Konsum sowie weitere Daten und Fakten das Fernsehen betreffend, aufgezeigt. Dazu gehören beispielsweise auch Auswirkungen auf Körper und Geist, die empirisch belegt wurden, und sich somit nicht mehr nur auf Vermutungen stützen.
