Zu Beginn werden einige wichtige Begriffe zur Lebensweltorientierung erläutert, um danach die Theorie der Lebensweltorientierung beschreiben und erklären zu können. Hierbei werden der historische Kontext, die fünf Sachdimensionen und die Traditionslinien genauer vorgestellt. Dann erfolgt eine Rekonstruktion der Lebenswelt. Einige weitere Vertreter*innen der Theorie der Lebensweltorientierung neben Hans Thiersch werden kurz vorgestellt. An-schließend werde ich den achten Jugendbericht ansprechen und daraufhin werden die Struktur- und Handlungsmaxime erklärt. Um die Theorie greifbar zu machen, findet danach ein Praxistransfer auf mein Arbeitsfeld statt, woraufhin sowohl die Theorie als auch deren aktuelle Umsetzungsmöglichkeiten kritisch hinterfragt werden sollen. In unserer heutigen Welt gibt es mehr Freiheiten, aber auch mehr Fragen und Herausforderungen. Gesellschaftliche Vorgaben beeinflussen unser Verhalten und den Druck, uns anzupassen. Lebenswelt scheint geradezu selbstverständlich zu sein, da kaum noch genauer darauf ein-gegangen wird oder eine konkrete Abgrenzung zu anderen Begrifflichkeiten, wie "Alltag" oder "Sozialraum", stattfindet. Durch diesen beinahe alltäglichen Gebrauch sind die theoretischen Begründungen kaum noch zu erkennen. Der Begriff der Lebensweltorientierung spielt in der Sozialpädagogik, insbesondere der Kinder- und Familienhilfe, eine große Rolle. Spätestens seit dem Achten Jugendbericht (vgl. BUNDESMINISTER FÜR JUGEND, FAMILIE, FRAUEN UND GESUNDHEIT 1990) gilt die so genannte Lebensweltorientierung als ein zentrales Paradigma der Jugendhilfe. Damit begann ab "Anfang der 1990er Jahre (...) ein regelrechter Boom lebensweltorientierter Überlegungen" (KRAUS 2006, S. 117 f., Auslassungen durch d. Verf.). Vor allem der Pädagoge HANS THIERSCH, der auch an der Erstellung dieses Berichtes beteiligt war, hat den Begriff der Lebensweltorientierung geprägt. Ausgelöst wurde die Diskussion einer lebensweltorientierten Sozialen Arbeit durch den Wandel in der Gesellschaft.
