Book excerpt: Este trabalho foi conduzido em um solo regossolo da Serie Sertaozinho localizado no municipio de Piracicaba, com o objetivo de determinar a curva de crescimento e a marcha de absorcao dos macronutrientes durante um ciclo da cultura do abacaxi. Mudas do tipo filhote da variedade Perola de Pernambuco, foram plantadas em dois talhoes de 8 x 12 m cada um. Um dos talhoes foi adubado e o outro nao recebeu adubacao durante todo o transcorrer do trabalho. O plantio foi realizado em 8 de junho de 1970, e as amostragens de plantas, compreendendo parte aerea e raiz, comecaram 4 1/2 meses depois, quando as plantas ja haviam estabelecidas. O periodo decorrido entre uma amostragem e outra foi de 30 dias, sendo a primeira realizada em 26 de outubro de 1970 e a ultima em 26de outubro de 1971, perfazendo um total de doze amostras por talhao. Em cada amostragem foram colhidas cinco plantas por talhao, cada planta constituindo uma repeticao. Por ocasiao de cada amostragem de plantas, foi coletada uma amostra composta de solo da camada de 0 a 20 cm para caracterizacao quimica. As plantas logo apos a colheita foram separadas em raiz, talo, folha e orgaos reprodutivos. As amostras das plantas foram preparadas e analisadas pelos metodos descritos por SARRUGE e HAAG (1974), sendo o peso de massa seca determinado a 80 graus C. Os dados das analises quimicas de plantas foram analisados estatisticamente para se determinar a extracao maxima de nutrientes e a epoca em que a demanda desses nutrientes se processou com maior intensidade.
