Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: That’s Why We Don’t Eat Animals uses colorful artwork and lively text to introduce vegetarianism and veganism to early readers (ages six to ten). Written and illustrated by Ruby Roth, the book features an endearing animal cast of pigs, turkeys, cows, quail, turtles, and dolphins. These creatures are shown in both their natural state—rooting around, bonding, nuzzling, cuddling, grooming one another, and charming each other with their family instincts and rituals—and in the terrible conditions of the factory farm. The book also describes the negative effects eating meat has on the environment. A separate section entitled “What Else Can We Do?” suggests ways children can learn more about the vegetarian and vegan lifestyles, such as:“Celebrate Thanksgiving with a vegan feast” or “Buy clothes, shoes, belts, and bags that are not made from leather or other animal skins or fur.” This compassionate, informative book offers both an entertaining read and a resource to inspire parents and children to talk about a timely, increasingly important subject. Book excerpt: A Complete Guide To A Cruelty Free Lifestyle Eating vegan can come with a lot of little lifestyle changes, but some of them are very important while others may come down to a matter of preference. Preference should have nothing to do with making sure that you get every vitamin and mineral you should have on a daily basis. Unfortunately, a few too many vegans may easily neglect this aspect of veganism, and later on in life or throughout the course of their diets they begin to encounter some health issues that they could have easily prevented with a little bit of preparation. A vegan lifestyle is not without its risks. Some people might approach it with the attitude that cutting animals out of their diets and calling it a day is good enough. However, there are some unfortunate differences that can result when we make a change like cutting out animal proteins from our diets. One particularly important thing to consider is a source of B vitamins. B vitamins are important. Without enough of them, we can begin to feel sluggish and depressed, lack in energy, find it difficult to concentrate and focus on things that are important to us, or even cause ourselves nervous system damage or anemia. B12 in particular is difficult for vegans to obtain because there are not a lot of vegan approved sources of this vitamin. If you are choosing to go vegan, this is a very important vitamin to consider. Most people also worry about your protein when you are living a vegan diet, but most people don’t come up and ask you where you are getting your iron and your B12 vitamins. Maybe they should change the question! That way, it will be at the forefront of your mind every day to make sure you are getting good sources of these vital nutrients. It can be very beneficial to live a vegan lifestyle. If you find it to be a difficult transition, remembering that you are supporting the concept of a better way of life with the choices you make should provide a boon. Remember that we hold the future in our hands . With It is extremely worthwhile to go vegan, but make sure you are doing it in a way that is beneficial to you in all aspects, and don’t deprive your body of some of the most important things it needs to stay healthy

Broadening the scope of her popular first book That’s Why We Don’t Eat Animals, Roth illustrates how our daily choices ripple out locally and globally, conveying what we can do to protect animals, the environment, and people across the world. Roth explores the many opportunities we have to make ethical decisions: refusing products tested on or made from animals; avoiding sea parks, circuses, animal races, and zoos; choosing to buy organic food; and more. Roth’s message is direct but sensitive, bringing into sharp focus what it means to “put our love into action.” Featuring empowering back-of-the-book resources on action children can take themselves, this is the next step for adults and kids alike to create a more sustainable and compassionate world.

Book excerpt: It seems that more and more every day we are hearing something about the vegan lifestyle. Most of usprobably know somebody who is a vegetarian or a vegan, or who simply seem curious about the idea ofgoing meat-free. What exactly is the appeal?People go vegan for a number of reasons, most of which are very personal to them. Of course you mayfind those who are very emotionally connected to their cause and seek to inform and educate others oncruelty-free procedures so that their message can be heard. Advocates of a vegan lifestyle can get a badrap, probably because it seems like a very extreme adjustment and some of the ways animals are treatedcan be truly heartbreaking. Some vegans may take it upon themselves to try and force others to care orunderstand in ways that can actually really turn the modern masses off of the message. That's because our diets are something personal to us. We all have the right to choose the way we eat, and it is a privilege that in this day and age we have the resources available to us to actually cut meatout of our lives safely. Ethical practices for raising certain animals in the agricultural industry havecome about because of the advocacy of groups that are passionate about animal welfare, and for thoseof us who are interested in veganism but not quite ready to make it an active lifestyle, that's okay. Youcan still make informed choices about where you get your food from, and what it takes to get frompoint A to what you find on your plate
