Book excerpt: Este trabalho teve com objetivo iniciar o desenvolvimento de uma tecnologia que permita, no futuro, a comercialização de bananas em mercados distantes da produção, por meio da utilização pós-colheita do l-MCP, em temperaturas de 15°C e 22°C, em duas cultivares resistentes à Sigatoka Negra. As bananas foram cultivadas no distrito de "Irrigação do Baixo Jaguaribe", situado no estado do Ceará. Foram realizados quatro experimentos. No primeiro experimento foram avaliados, através testes sensoriais (aceitação global, aceitação de atributos e aceitação visual) quanto a aceitação pelos consumidores (donas de casa e jovens), oito cultivares de bananas (Musa ssp), sendo quatro cultivares comerciais susceptíveis à Sigatoka Negra ('Prata Comum', 'Prata Anã', 'Pacovan' e 'Grand Naine') e quatro cultivares resistentes à doença ('Pacovan Ken', 'Preciosa', 'Thap Maeo' e 'Caipira'). Após os teste sensoriais foram selecionadas duas cultivares ('Pacovan Ken' e 'Preciosa') mais aceita pelos provadores. Em seguida estas foram avaliadas quanto o seu estádio de maturação fazendo uma escala de cor de acordo com a maturação, apresentando resultados positivos, pois ambas apresentaram uma boa uniformidade no amadurecimento. Selecionadas sensorialmente e analisada sua maturação os frutos das duas cultivares foram submetidos a duas concentrações de l-MCP (Oe 6ÜTjL. L-1p), or 12 horas, e foram analisados durante o amadurecimento sob condições ambiente (22:1:2°Ce) refrigerada (15::i::2°C,) a cada seis dias. Observou-se, que durante o amadurecimento, os frutos das duas cultivares, 'Pacovan Ken' e 'Preciosa', não respondeu ao tratamento de l-MCP e nem mostrou diferença entre as temperaturas utilizadas, não apresentando efeito diferenciado quanto às características avaliadas.
