Book Synopsis Variable Density Fluid Turbulence by : P. Chassaing
Download or read book Variable Density Fluid Turbulence written by P. Chassaing and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first part aims at providing the physical and theoretical framework of the analysis of density variations in fully turbulent flows. Its scope is deliberately educational. In the second part, basic data on dynamical and scalar properties of variable density turbulent flows are presented and discussed, based on experimental data and/or results from direct numerical simulations. This part is rather concerned with a research audience. The last part is more directly devoted to an engineering audience and deals with prediction methods for turbulent flows of variable density fluid. Both first and second order, single point modeling are discussed, with special emphasis on the capability to include specific variable density / compressibility effects.

Book Synopsis Turbulence Models and Their Application by : Tuncer Cebeci
Download or read book Turbulence Models and Their Application written by Tuncer Cebeci and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-12-04 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After a brief review of the more popular turbulence models, the author presents and discusses accurate and efficient numerical methods for solving the boundary-layer equations with turbulence models based on algebraic formulas (mixing length, eddy viscosity) or partial-differential transport equations. A computer program employing the Cebeci-Smith model and the k-e model for obtaining the solution of two-dimensional incompressible turbulent flows without separation is discussed in detail and is presented in the accompanying CD.

Book Synopsis Measured and Calculated Mean-flow Properties of a Two-dimensional, Hypersonic, Turbulent Wake by : Richard Dirk Wagner
Download or read book Measured and Calculated Mean-flow Properties of a Two-dimensional, Hypersonic, Turbulent Wake written by Richard Dirk Wagner and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The hypersonic turbulent wake produced by a wedge was studied experimentally and its properties were compared with predictions obtained from a numerical computation procedure. In the computation procedure several models for the eddy viscosity formulation of the turbulent transport were examined. Conventional-defect models and a modified mixing-length model were found to yield good predictions of the experimental data. The classical mixing-length model gave unrealistic results. The experimental data displayed similarity when velocity and temperature defects were scaled by the maximum defects and the transverse coordinate was scaled by the velocity-defect half-width.
