Book excerpt: The research work performed during the report period has been devoted to the study of the problem of flame spreading over the surface of plastic fuels in nitrogen-oxygen mixtures. Some research work has been also performed on the problem of combustion of liquid propellants and fuels in droplet form near the critical pressure. (Author).
Book Synopsis Heterogeneous Combustion by : Hans G. Wolfhard
Download or read book Heterogeneous Combustion written by Hans G. Wolfhard and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-12-03 with total page 782 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress in Astronautics and Aeronautics—Volume 15: Heterogeneous Combustion focuses on the processes, reactions, methodologies, and techniques involved in heterogeneous combustion. The selection first offers information on the techniques for the study of combustion of beryllium and aluminum particles, study of quenched aluminum particle combustion, and spectroscopic investigation of metal combustion. Discussions focus on the combustion of metal particles in a hot oxidizing atmosphere, experimental apparatus and procedure, selected examples of residue observations, ignition of beryllium, and photographic study of particle combustion. The text then takes a look at the analytical developments, experimental observations in oxygen atmospheres, and experimental observations in carbon dioxide atmospheres of vapor-phase diffusion flames in the combustion of magnesium and aluminum. The publication ponders on the combustion of elemental boron with fluorine, combustion of pyrolytic boron nitride, characteristics of diborane flames, oxidation of diethyldiborane, and reaction of pentaborane and hydrazine and structure of the adduct. The selection is a dependable reference for readers interested in heterogeneous combustion.

Book Synopsis Analysis of Combustion Oscillations in Heterogeneous Systems by : Moshe Ben-Reuven
Download or read book Analysis of Combustion Oscillations in Heterogeneous Systems written by Moshe Ben-Reuven and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This analysis is aimed at the near-wall processes in an injected, axisymmetric, viscous flow. It is a part of an overall study of solid propellant rocket instability, in which cold flow simulation is evaluated as a tool to elucidate possible instability-driving mechanisms. One such prominent mechanism seems to be visco-acoustic coupling, as indicated by earlier detailed order of magnitude analysis. The major component of the overall study involves numerical simulation of the full set of coreflow equations of motion (nonsteady, axisymmetric) by a modified MacCormack integration technique. To clarify some of the physical interactions inherent in the various regimes of the flowfield, two (separate) singular perturbation analyses have been carried out. The head-end boundary regime, and the injected sidewall layer, both involve appreciable viscous dissipation, and hence are characterized by predominantly parabolic differential systems. The inverse square root of the injection Reynolds number serves as a small-perturbation quantity.

Book Synopsis Heterogeneous Combustion by : George I. Stoev
Download or read book Heterogeneous Combustion written by George I. Stoev and published by Nova Science Pub Incorporated. This book was released on 2010-10-31 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heterogeneous combustion or burning is the sequence of exothermic chemical reactions between a fuel and an oxidant accompanied by the production of heat and conversion of chemical species. The release of heat can result in the production of light in the form of either glowing or a flame. This book presents topical research data in this field of study including transient modelling in heterogeneous combustion; combustion-based formation of dioxins and dioxin-like compounds; the surface chemical reactivity of combustion particles; a mathematical model of combustion wave processes in a heterogeneous medium with chemical reactions in the gas phase; residential coal combustion; and the thermogravimetric analysis conditions of biomass combustion.

Book Synopsis The Effect of Heterogeneity on In-Situ Combustion by :
Download or read book The Effect of Heterogeneity on In-Situ Combustion written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report extend the approach to heterogeneous systems, by considering the simpler case of in-situ combustion in layered porous media (and particularly to a two-layer model). Analytical models were developed to delineate the combined elects of fluid flow, reaction and heat transfer on the dynamics of combustion fronts in layered porous media, using as parameters the thermal coupling between the layers, the heat transfer to the surroundings and the permeability contrast.
