Download or read book A New Day Dawning written by ,F.D.White and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2017-04-18 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every day is a new day. How you live it is your decision. Don't waste it. Our lives are like a flickering flame. We never know when it will go out. When tomorrow comes, this day is gone. In its place are memories we left behind. I pray that your memories will be filled with love. Not every day begins with a beautiful sunrise. Sometimes, it's stormy and raining, but it is all for a purpose. Love is like a flower. God has put that seed in your heart to grow. Without the rain, the flower won't be as strong and beautiful as it could be. Remember, storms come and go, but love stays forever. Love is not love unless it is given away. Live your life to the fullest with each new day. Remember that yesterday is gone and tomorrow is out of sight. Live for today and let your love grow strong.
Book Synopsis Memory, Place and Identity by : Danielle Drozdzewski
Download or read book Memory, Place and Identity written by Danielle Drozdzewski and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-05-20 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book bridges theoretical gaps that exist between the meta-concepts of memory, place and identity by positioning its lens on the emplaced practices of commemoration and the remembrance of war and conflict. This book examines how diverse publics relate to their wartime histories through engagements with everyday collective memories, in differing places. Specifically addressing questions of place-making, displacement and identity, contributions shed new light on the processes of commemoration of war in everyday urban façades and within generations of families and national communities. Contributions seek to clarify how we connect with memories and places of war and conflict. The spatial and narrative manifestations of attempts to contextualise wartime memories of loss, trauma, conflict, victory and suffering are refracted through the roles played by emotion and identity construction in the shaping of post-war remembrances. This book offers a multidisciplinary perspective, with insights from history, memory studies, social psychology, cultural and urban geography, to contextualise memories of war and their ‘use’ by national governments, perpetrators, victims and in family histories.

Download or read book African Journey written by Tony Gaston and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2019-10-15 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fresh out of university in 1968, Tony Gaston set out to explore for birds in the Ahaggar Mountains of the central Sahara. Without a map or compass, he continued south to Niger and westwards to Liberia and Sierra Leone, traveling on trucks and buses and on foot through countries just emerging from colonialism. He carried little more than a sleeping bag, a teapot, and a pair of binoculars to pursue his passion for birdwatching, and relied on his wits and the kindness of strangers to help him along. He encountered many extraordinary people on the way, including Peace Corps volunteers and missionaries, policemen and prostitutes, barkeepers and beggars, whose stories mix with his own and give shape to his adventures. On the fiftieth anniversary of his trip, Tony casts a quizzical gaze on the past and its characters, forming a reminiscence of youth in the gentler era of the 1960s. Drawing from his memory and written records, this tale explores the nature of recollection in later life and the fluid association between wealth and well-being.

Book Synopsis A Laying on of Hands by : Falconetti
Download or read book A Laying on of Hands written by Falconetti and published by Strategic Book Publishing. This book was released on 2009-03 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the early hours of a cold winter's morning in 1538 a churchman is murdered in Hereford cathedral. An innocent farmer now lies in prison awaiting execution. He decides to write his story down in the hope that some day justice might be done. Nearly 500 years later Falconetti, a young management consultant living in Barcelona, drops an old picture and stumbles across the letter. With the aid of his good-humoured friend Arturo and many hours on the Internet he gradually manages to piece together the whole story but the more he digs the more sinister the facts become involving well known figures of the time - Sir Richard Rich and Sir Thomas Cromwell among others - and eventually leading to the intriguing possibility that Henry VIII might have had another son apart from the sickly Edward and the bastard Duke of Richmond. The political manoeuvring and religious disputes of that cruel time form the dramatic backdrop against which a simple man's personal tragedy is played out in the beautiful countryside Herefordshire and northern Catalonia and as Falconetti uncovers this poignant story he also discovers many inner truths which will change him forever. Born in Herefordshire in 1954, the author developed a love of languages at an early age and studied French and Spanish. He loved history but wasn't very good at it. Having failed to gain employment as a qualified conference interpreter he entered the world of advertising where he travelled the world due to his linguistic skills. He lived in Spain for 18 years (Madrid and Barcelona) before moving to South America in 1996. Since then he has lived in S o Paulo, Brazil for 8 years and 1 year in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since 2005 the author has lived in Mexico City. He has a wife and two daughters who all live and work or study in England. His dream is to retire to the Mediterranean.

These poems and reflections act as a source of encouraging words that help the reader navigate the path to joy which Lewis strategically mapped out on every page of The Lion.
