Eliot S Drama, Showing How Religious And Symbolic Implications, Both Oriental And Occidental, Have A Direct Bearing On His Personal Life.Eliot Used Various Symbols In His Quest Because He Believed In The Idea Of The Objective Correlative, About Which He Speaks In His Essay Hamlet And His Problems. In Order To Express His Theme, Eliot Used Christian Symbols Like The Quest Of The Holy Grail And The Idea Of The Incarnation On The One Hand, And Non-Christian Elements Like The Teachings And Life Of The Buddha, Along With References To The Gita And The Upanishad On The Other. In His Quest For Form And Articulation Eliot Was Influenced By French Symbolist Poetry, The Metaphysical Poets, The Plays Of Shakespeare And His Contemporaries, The Poems Of John Davidson, Conrad S Fiction, Music-Hall Performances And Jazz Music To Name Only A Few.Eliot Wanted To Project Dramatization As The Ideal Form Of Poetic Articulation On Various Levels Of Significance Drama As A Diversified Multifarious Intensified Medium Of Audio-Visual-Intellectual Expression. His Search Seems To Have Led Him To A Kind Of Consummation As An Experimenter, In His Plays, In Communication Through Diverse Verse Forms, Themes, Characters And Situations, Exposing A Multiplicity Of Experiences Both Physical And Spiritual. In All His Plays There Is A Distinct Development Towards More Precise Articulation Of The Innermost Feelings And Emotions Of Modern Urban Man. But, More Important, The Book Traces Eliot S Personal Quest For Understanding The Meaning Of Existence His Own Life And Its Meaning Of Which His Poetry And Plays Are A Sort Of Autobiography.

It is a factual fantasy of the life and times of Big Red, told in his own words when it was discovered by a three-year-old boy that this sixty-five-foot majestic barn could telepathically converse with him. Yes, walls can talk, and Big Red tells his life story from the time he was constructed in 1919 on a small dairy farm in Mormon Country, Utah, until it approached its one hundredth birthday. The Impossible Campaign, part II, contains a series of articles and stories based on the authors perspective, which depict the phenomenal circumstances surrounding a nonexperienced politician yet successful business mogul who lays waste to a field of career Republican presidential politicians, captured every news cycle for over eleven months, and consequently created a ground-swell movement by millions of his supporters to become victorious in his primary campaign. 2021 Our New World Horizon, part III, continues where part I left off and continues to the futuristic time of 2021 when Big Red became the inspirational conduit to help change the entire landscape by creating a new world horizon.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a new structural approach to the psychology of the person, inspired by Kenneth Colby’s computer-generated simulation, PARRY. The simulation was of a paranoid psychological state, represented in forms of the person's logic and syntax, as these would be evidenced in personal communication. Harwood Fisher uses a Structural View to highlight similarities in the logical form of the linguistic representations of Donald Trump, his avid followers (“Trumpers”), and the paranoid—referred to as “The Trio.” He demonstrates how the Structural View forms a series of logical and schematic patterns, similar to the way that content analysis can bring forth associations meanings, and concepts held in the text. Such comparisons, Fisher argues, can be used to shed light on contingencies for presenting, representing, and judging truth. Specifically, Fisher posits that the major syntactic and logical patterns that were used to produce the computer-generated “paranoid” responses in Colby’s project can be used to analyze Donald Trump’s rhetoric and his followers’ reactions to it. Ultimately, Fisher offers a new kind of structural approach for the philosophy of psychology. This novel work will appeal to students and scholars of social and cognitive psychology, psychology of personality, psychiatric classification, psycholinguistics, rhetoric, and computer science.

Book excerpt: John Plaster’s riveting account of his covert activities as a member of a special operations team during the Vietnam War is “a true insider’s account, this eye-opening report will leave readers feeling as if they’ve been given a hot scoop on a highly classified project” (Publishers Weekly). Code-named the Studies and Observations Group, SOG was the most secret elite US military unit to serve in the Vietnam War—so secret its very existence was denied by the government. Composed entirely of volunteers from such ace fighting units as the Army Green Berets, Air Force Air Commandos, and Navy SEALs, SOG took on the most dangerous covert assignments, in the deadliest and most forbidding theaters of operation. In SOG, Major John L. Plaster, a three-tour SOG veteran, shares the gripping exploits of these true American warriors in a minute-by-minute, heartbeat-by-heartbeat account of the group’s stunning operations behind enemy lines—penetrating heavily defended North Vietnamese military facilities, holding off mass enemy attacks, launching daring missions to rescue downed US pilots. Some of the most extraordinary true stories of honor and heroism in the history of the US military, from sabotage to espionage to hand-to-hand combat, Plaster’s account is “a detailed history of this little-known aspect of the Vietnam War…a worthy act of historical rescue from an unjustified, willed oblivion” (The New York Times).

Leffler bridges the gap between revisionist and traditionalist studies by integrating the diverse aspects of foreign policy and elucidates many new aspects of the foreign policymaking process in the postwar period. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is surprising that no one previous to John Prados attempted a biography of quintessential cold warrior William Colby, because his story is in many ways also the story of the CIA. From Italy to Vietnam, to the military coup in Indonesia, to Watergate, the prosecution of Richard Helms, investigations of CIA assassination plots, and the drugging and surveillance of unwitting Americans, Colby was there, on the ground or deeply involved at headquarters.—The Guardian William E. Colby was one of the most enigmatic figures of the Cold War and a central player in the operations of the Central Intelligence Agency. While publicly appearing as a calm bureaucrat, behind the scenes Colby helped orchestrate some of CIA's most controversial operations. His mysterious death even added to the aura. In the wake of new questions relating to CIA activities since 9/11—which John Prados discusses in his new preface—Colby's story provides crucial lessons for a nation that still struggles to reconcile intelligence methods with democratic principles. Prados tracks Colby's life and career from early years in the OSS to his tumultuous tenure as Director of Central Intelligence in the 1970s. Reviled by many outside the CIA for his role in Vietnam-and inside it for his cooperation with probes of the agency—Colby was cast as a scapegoat by the Ford White House during the Church and Pike congressional investigations. In addition, Prados offers fresh insights and new perspectives on Colby's involvement in the notorious Phoenix program in Vietnam and in the bloody Indonesian coup of 1965 that overthrew President Sukarno and brought General Suharto to power, as well as on the CIA's role in the 1963 assassination of President Ngo Dinh Diem of South Vietnam and on the actions of high-level CIA officials during the final demise of South Vietnam in 1975. A masterful study of a master spy, William Colby and the CIA also offers a vital and timely history of the inner workings of "the Company" for which he worked. Originally published in a cloth edition under the title Lost Crusader and retitled for this first paperback edition, William Colby and the CIA explores dilemmas of intelligence that are of renewed importance today.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mrs. Stanton's Bible traces the impact of Elizabeth Cady Stanton's religious dissent on the suffrage movement at the turn of the century and presents the first book-length reading of her radical text, the Woman's Bible. Stanton is best remembered for organizing the Seneca Falls convention at which she first called for women's right to vote. Yet she spent the last two decades of her life working for another cause: women's liberation from religious oppression. Stanton came to believe that political enfranchisement was meaningless without the systematic dismantling of the church's stifling authority over women's lives. In 1895, she collaboratively authored this biblical exegesis, just as the women's movement was becoming more conservative. Stanton found herself arguing not only against male clergy members but also against devout female suffragists. Kathi Kern demonstrates that the Woman's Bible itself played a fundamental role in the movement's new conservatism because it sparked Stanton's censure and the elimination of her fellow radicals from the National American Woman Suffrage Association. Mrs. Stanton's Bible dramatically portrays this crucial chapter of women's history and facilitates the understanding of one of the movement's most controversial texts.
