This book was released on 2021-01-01 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electroplating is the process of depositing a metal coating onto the surface of an object through the use of an electrical current. Electroplating has evolved into a highly complex process requiring a high level of precision and expertise. Phosphating is the process of converting a steel surface to iron phosphate. This is mostly used as a pretreatment method in conjunction with another method of corrosion protection. Powder coating is a finishing process in which a coating is applied electrostatically to a surface as a free-floating, dry powder before heat is used to finalize the coating. The powder can be made of any number of products: polyester, polyurethane, polyester-epoxy, straight epoxy, and acrylics. Metal finishing is the final step in the manufacturing process used to provide aesthetics and environmental protection. The electroplating market mostly is driven by the electronics and electrical industry and followed by the automotive industry. The demand for electroplating is rising rapidly from the end user industries which propel the growth of the market. The increasing demand for durable metals and growing use of adaptable manufacturing processes for a wide range of applications in the automotive, aerospace & defense, and electrical & electronics industries are likely to boost the demand for electroplating. With the growing demand for high-performance automobile components having excellent resistance to corrosion to enhance the appearance of exterior automobile parts, such as emblems, door handles, hood ornaments, and wheel rims, is driving the demand for electroplating and likely to continue owing to the increasing automobiles production in Asia-Pacific and other emerging economies in the Middle East & Africa. The zinc-nickel electroplating is one of the popular methods of electroplating in the automotive industry. The book cover various aspects related to different Electroplating, Phosphating, Powder Coating and Metal Finishing with their manufacturing process and also provides contact details of machinery suppliers with equipment photographs and plant layout. A total guide to manufacturing and entrepreneurial success in one of today’s complete process of electroplating to metal finishing in industry. This book is one-stop guide to one of the fastest growing electroplating, phosphating, powder coating and metal finishing industry, where opportunities abound for manufacturers, retailers, and entrepreneurs. The book serves up a feast of how-to information, from concept to purchasing equipment.

Book Synopsis Powder Consolidation Using Cold Spray by : Atieh Moridi
Download or read book Powder Consolidation Using Cold Spray written by Atieh Moridi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-11-10 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book first presents different approaches to modeling of the cold spray process with the aim of extending current understanding of its fundamental principles and then describes emerging applications of cold spray. In the coverage of modeling, careful attention is devoted to the assessment of critical and erosion velocities. In order to reveal the phenomenological characteristics of interface bonding, severe, localized plastic deformation and material jet formation are studied. Detailed consideration is also given to the effect of macroscopic defects such as interparticle boundaries and subsequent splat boundary cracking on the mechanical behavior of cold spray coatings. The discussion of applications focuses in particular on the repair of damaged parts and additive manufacturing in various disciplines from aerospace to biomedical engineering. Key aspects include a systematic study of defect shape and the ability of cold spray to fill the defect, examination of the fatigue behavior of coatings for structural applications, and a novel working window at subcritical conditions to obtain porous structures. This book is exceptional in scope, and its review of finite element modelling at different length scales sheds light on future design and process improvement in emerging applications such as structural repair, metal additive manufacturing and metal foam design.
Download or read book Powder Mixing written by B.H. Kaye and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1997-09-30 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The operation of a powder mixer requires a knowledge not only of the mixing mechanisms but of the physical properties of the powders being mixed. Powder Mixing is unique in that it explores the relevant physics of the powder systems including characterization procedures and rheology, and contains an extensive review of different methods that have been employed to study the structure of mixtures. The techniques for achieving structured mixtures such as microencapsulation, and recent developments in deterministic chaos theory and fractal geometry as applied to the study of powder mixing systems, are reviewed. Book Synopsis Environmental Barrier Coatings by : Kang N. Lee
Download or read book Environmental Barrier Coatings written by Kang N. Lee and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-12-29 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The global increase in air travel will require commercial vehicles to be more efficient than ever before. Advanced engine hot section materials are a key technology required to keep fuel consumption and emission to a minimum in next-generation gas turbines. Ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) are the most promising material to revolutionize gas turbine hot section materials technology because of their excellent high‐temperature properties. Rapid surface recession due to volatilization by water vapor is the Achilles heel of CMCs. Environmental barrier coatings (EBCs) is an enabling technology for CMCs, since it protects CMCs from water vapor. The first CMC component entered into service in 2016 in a commercial engine, and more CMC components are scheduled to follow within the next few years. One of the most difficult challenges to CMC components is EBC durability, because failure of EBC leads to a rapid reduction in CMC component life. Key contributors to EBC failure include recession, oxidation, degradation by calcium‐aluminum‐magnesium silicates (CMAS) deposits, thermal and thermo‐mechanical strains, particle erosion, and foreign object damage (FOD). Novel EBC chemistries, creative EBC designs, and robust processes are required to meet EBC durability challenges. Engine-relevant testing, characterization, and lifing methods need to be developed to improve EBC reliability. The aim of this Special Issue is to present recent advances in EBC technology to address these issues. In particular, topics of interest include but are not limited to the following: • Novel EBC chemistries and designs; • Processing including plasma spray, suspension plasma spray, solution precursor plasma spray, slurry process, PS-PVD, EB-PVD, and CVD; • Testing, characterization, and modeling; • Lifing.
