Book Synopsis Normalization of Multidimensional Data for Multi-Criteria Decision Making Problems by : Irik Z. Mukhametzyanov
Download or read book Normalization of Multidimensional Data for Multi-Criteria Decision Making Problems written by Irik Z. Mukhametzyanov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-07-25 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a systematic review of multidimensional normalization methods and addresses problems frequently encountered when using various methods and ways to eliminate them. The invariant properties of the linear normalization methods presented here can be used to eliminate simple problems and avoid obvious errors when choosing a normalization method. The book introduces valuable, novel techniques for the multistep normalization of multidimensional data. One of these methods involves inverting the normalized values of cost attributes into profit attributes based on the reverse sorting algorithm (ReS algorithm). Another approach presented is the IZ method, which addresses the issue of shift in normalized attribute values. Additionally, a new method for normalizing the decision matrix is proposed, called the MS method, which ensures the equalization of average values and variances of attributes. Featuring numerous illustrative examples throughout, the book helps readers to understand what difficulties can arise in multidimensional normalization, what to expect from such problems, and how to solve them. It is intended for academics and professionals in various areas of data science, computing in mathematics, and statistics, as well as decision-making and operations.

This book was released on 2023-10-11 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational intelligence-based optimization methods, also known as metaheuristic optimization algorithms, are a popular topic in mathematical programming. These methods have bridged the gap between various approaches and created a new school of thought to solve real-world optimization problems. In this book, we have selected some of the most effective and renowned algorithms in the literature. These algorithms are not only practical but also provide thought-provoking theoretical ideas to help readers understand how they solve optimization problems. Each chapter includes a brief review of the algorithm’s background and the fields it has been used in. Additionally, Python code is provided for all algorithms at the end of each chapter, making this book a valuable resource for beginner and intermediate programmers looking to understand these algorithms.
Book Synopsis Probabilistic Structural Mechanics Handbook by : C.R. Sundararajan
Download or read book Probabilistic Structural Mechanics Handbook written by C.R. Sundararajan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 756 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The need for a comprehensive book on probabilistic structural mechanics that brings together the many analytical and computational methods developed over the years and their applications in a wide spectrum of industries-from residential buildings to nuclear power plants, from bridges to pressure vessels, from steel structures to ceramic structures-became evident from the many discussions the editor had with practising engineers, researchers and professors. Because no single individual has the expertise to write a book with such a di.verse scope, a group of 39 authors from universities, research laboratories, and industries from six countries in three continents was invited to write 30 chapters covering the various aspects of probabilistic structural mechanics. The editor and the authors believe that this handbook will serve as a reference text to practicing engineers, teachers, students and researchers. It may also be used as a textbook for graduate-level courses in probabilistic structural mechanics. The editor wishes to thank the chapter authors for their contributions. This handbook would not have been a reality without their collaboration.

Book Synopsis Sustainable Use of Traditional Geomaterials in Construction Practice by :
Download or read book Sustainable Use of Traditional Geomaterials in Construction Practice written by and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2016-08-02 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geomaterials derived from the Earth’s crust and used in construction after appropriate processing are among the earliest raw materials exploited, processed and used by humans. Their numerous functional properties include accessibility, workability and serviceability, and these are explored within this volume. In modern society, sustainable use of raw materials, specifically those exploited in large volumes such as geomaterials for construction, raises questions of reducing extraction of primary resources and thus minimizing impacts on natural systems, and also employment of materials and technologies to lower emissions of deleterious substances into the atmosphere. This will be possible only if we fully understand the properties, processing and mode of use of traditional geomaterials. Although most of the papers within this volume were written by geologists, the contributions will also be of interest to those working in cultural heritage, monument conservation, civil engineering and architecture.
Book Synopsis Tools in Fluvial Geomorphology by : G. Mathias Kondolf
Download or read book Tools in Fluvial Geomorphology written by G. Mathias Kondolf and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-04-28 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fluvial Geomorphology studies the biophysical processes acting in rivers, and the sediment patterns and landforms resulting from them. It is a discipline of synthesis, with roots in geology, geography, and river engineering, and with strong interactions with allied fields such as ecology, engineering and landscape architecture. This book comprehensively reviews tools used in fluvial geomorphology, at a level suitable to guide the selection of research methods for a given question. Presenting an integrated approach to the interdisciplinary nature of the subject, it provides guidance for researchers and professionals on the tools available to answer questions on river restoration and management. Thoroughly updated since the first edition in 2003 by experts in their subfields, the book presents state-of-the-art tools that have revolutionized fluvial geomorphology in recent decades, such as physical and numerical modelling, remote sensing and GIS, new field techniques, advances in dating, tracking and sourcing, statistical approaches as well as more traditional methods such as the systems framework, stratigraphic analysis, form and flow characterisation and historical analysis. This book: Covers five main types of geomorphological questions and their associated tools: historical framework; spatial framework; chemical, physical and biological methods; analysis of processes and forms; and future understanding framework. Provides guidance on advantages and limitations of different tools for different applications, data sources, equipment and supplies needed, and case studies illustrating their application in an integrated perspective. It is an essential resource for researchers and professional geomorphologists, hydrologists, geologists, engineers, planners, and ecologists concerned with river management, conservation and restoration. It is a useful supplementary textbook for upper level undergraduate and graduate courses in Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and interdisciplinary courses in river management and restoration.
