Book Synopsis Simulated Moving Bed Chromatography for Chiral Separation by : Ki Bong Lee
Download or read book Simulated Moving Bed Chromatography for Chiral Separation written by Ki Bong Lee and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simulated moving bed (SMB) chromatography has received attention for chiral separations since early 1990s and is, today, considered as a cost-effective preparative-scale purification technology. In this book, development and verification of a design method for chiral SMB separation by both simulations and experiments are introduced. The verified design method can be further used for optimization and for understanding the effects of various parameters on SMB performance.

Book Synopsis Preparative Chromatography by : H. Schmidt-Traub
Download or read book Preparative Chromatography written by H. Schmidt-Traub and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-09-27 with total page 545 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Completely revised and substantially extended to reflect the developments in this fast-changing field. It retains the interdisciplinary approach that elegantly combines the chemistry and engineering involved to describe the conception and improvement of chromatographic processes. It also covers recent advances in preparative chromatographic processes for the separation of "smaller" molecules using standard laboratory equipment as well as the detailed conception of industrial chemical plants. The increase in biopharmaceutical substances is reflected by new and revised chapters on different modifications of continuous chromatography as well as ion-exchange chromatography and other separation principles widely used in biochromatography. Following an introductory section on the history of chromatography, the current state of research and the design of chromatographic processes, the book goes on to define the general terminology. There then follow sections on stationary phases, selection of chromatographic systems and process concepts. A completely new chapter deals with engineering and operation of chromatographic equipment. Final chapters on modeling and determination of model parameters as well as model based design, optimization and control of preparative chromatographic processes allow for optimal selection of chromatographic processes. Essential for chemists and chemical engineers in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food industries.

Book Synopsis Micro and Macro Mixing by : Henning Bockhorn
Download or read book Micro and Macro Mixing written by Henning Bockhorn and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-12-26 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The homogenization of single phase gases or liquids with chemical reactive components by mixing belongs to one of the oldest basic operations applied in chemical engineering. The mixing process is used as an essential step in nearly all processes of the chemical industry as well as the pharmaceutical and food ind- tries. Recent experimentally and theoretically based results from research work lead to a fairly good prediction of the velocity fields in differend kinds of mixers, where as predictions of simultaneously proceeding homogeneous chemical re- tions, are still not reliable in a similar way. Therefore the design of equipment for mixing processes is still derived from measurements of the so called “mixing time” which is related to the applied methods of measurement and the special - sign of the test equipment itself. The cooperation of 17 research groups was stimulated by improved modern methods for experimental research and visualization, for simulations and nume- cal calculations of mixing and chemical reactions in micro and macro scale of time and local coordinates. The research work was financed for a six years period within the recently finished Priority Program of the German Research Foundation (DFG) named “Analysis, modeling and numerical prediction of flow-mixig with and without chemical reactions (SPP 1141)”. The objective of the investigations was to improve the prediction of efficiencies and selectivities of chemical re- tions on macroscopic scale.
