Book excerpt: From The Heart, is a Christian Song Lyric Book dedicated to praising and worshipping God and his Son our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. If you have a melody in your heart and enjoy singing, this is the book for you. My hope for you is that this book of Song Lyrics will uplift, inspire, refresh, encourage, and comfort any who immerse themselves in its pages. In Gods Word, the Bible in Psalms, scripture says, to make a joyful noise. Here is one example of my attempt to make a joyful noise. Mighty to Deliver: Verse: Gracious and merciful is Jehovah our God, mighty in power to deliver, His loving kindness it does surround, hiding us in the shadow of His wings. Hiding us in the shadow of His wings. verse: Holy and righteous is Jehovah our God, mighty in power to deliver, Abba Father, creator of all, the one and only true living God. The one and only true and living God. chorus: Yes, He is mighty to deliver: making ways where there are no ways, Yes He is mighty to deliver, and I will praise Him all of my days. And I will praise Him all of my days. verse: Gracious and wonderful is Jehovah our God, mighty in power to deliver, He is speaking with a still small voice, slow to anger in kindness and in truth. Slow to anger in kindness and in truth. chorus: Bridge: He is perfect in all His ways, God of the heavens, holding us in the palm of His hand, the God of the universe. God of the universe, God of the universe. God of the universe.
Book Synopsis The Lyrics of Civility by : Kenneth Bielen
Download or read book The Lyrics of Civility written by Kenneth Bielen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-01-20 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first comprehensive scholarly study of religious images in popular music. Examining bestsellers from 1906 to 1971, the work explores the role religious images have in the secularization of American culture. Popular music lyrics that express an adherence to a sacred order are couched in inoffensive, content-less language. These lyrics of civility reflect and shape the increasing secularization of American culture in the twentieth century. The analysis focuses primarily on the way these lyrics reduce the meaning of the terms and theology of the Biblical faith. The aesthetic of civility carries over into theology, the narratives, and the accompanying instrumental arrangements of songs that adhere to the Biblical sacred order. On the other hand, lyrics that reject the Biblical tradition use content-filled, offensive language. The result is that displaced adherents withdraw from the Biblical tradition and turn to alternative cultural religions, or idols of attraction, including popular music, that offer meaning to fill a void in the individual. The secularization of American society, therefore, is not a withdrawal from the idea of religion itself. The analysis focuses on the two dominant themes in songs that include religious images: prayer and heaven. The author explores the songs of the two world wars, the hit parade era, the rhythm and blues and doo-wop of the 1950s, the new folk singer movement, soul music and rock music of the 1960s, and the revival rock of the early 1970s. The work demonstrates the capacity of one form of popular culture to separate adherents from a subculture through diluting the meaning of the language of the subculture's elemental thought. (Ph.D. dissertation, Bowling Green State University, 1994; revised with new preface, bibliography, and index)

Book Synopsis CHRISTIAN COMMUNICATIONS And HUMAN RESOURCES by : Dipo Toby Alakija
Download or read book CHRISTIAN COMMUNICATIONS And HUMAN RESOURCES written by Dipo Toby Alakija and published by Calvary Rock Resource. This book was released on 2016-04-12 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world is not in need of those who will fix errors of humanity but in dire need of matured Christians who would use their gifts to communicate the word of God and lead their families, the Church, communities and their countries in the way of righteousness. Very few of them, however, seem to have what it takes to take their positions as leaders and ministers in their spheres despite their God-given potentials. Thus this Course Book - a compilation of five resource materials on Christian Oral Communications, Christian Drama Communications, Christian Musical Communications, Christian Human Resources and Children Evangelism - makes serious attempts to introduce everybody into various creative ministries that are required in the Body of Christ and in the world. It teaches in a simple manner the management of human resources and the ways Christians can use their gifts to reach out to souls through speaking, writing, drama, media, musical and children ministries. The resource materials equip and help individuals to identify their callings, providing Biblical principles and guidelines on how to be effective and productive in the service of the Lord in spite of the hostile environments.
